Disappointed with sizing of Disney kids clothes

Am I the only one?

We were at WDW in September and I had seen a Toy Story hoodie that I wanted for DS2. We were about to leave the park so my DH ran back to where I had seen it to pick it up for me. I told him to get a 3T so it would fit as long as possible. Guess what? It barely fits now! Basically, he's worn it once and it's done. He normally wears a 24 mo or 2T - who would've thought to go at least two sizes up so that he could wear it from now to spring?

I order things for my kids from Disney Store online and sometimes an XSS fits, sometimes it's too small, sometimes it's huge. I have come to realize that returns are likely.

Am I the only one that has a problem with this? I guess I just would have expected Disney to be a little more consistent in their sizing, especially when they are so kid-oriented. At least I know how to try EVERYTHING on rather than assume that one size up will work. If anyone else has a similar problem, at least I won't feel so alone!:upsidedow

Yes. I find Disney Brand very frustrating for my boys. I generally don't like clothes that have 2 sizes like 5/6 7/8 anyway but Disney is the worst! I also find that their toddler clothing is all over the place.

I'd further add that IMHO, giving the parks clothing concession over to Hanes was a huge mistake. The quality is, ah, non-existent, sizes are all over the place, the stuff barely holds up through one washing -- the list goes on and on. The end result for our family is that we've stopped buying clothing at WDW and we come up with money in our pockets because of it.

I find the same applies to the adult clothing. I find it undersized and usually shrinks one size after the first wash. Very disappointing.

We bouht both ds's shirts outside of POTC summer of '08-1 small and 1 medium. The small barely fit and older son looks like he is wearing a mumu.

I have the same problem..I bought DD a small (5-6) Ariel bathing suit which fits fine.I bought the SAME size in the princess bathing suit and the thing is HUGE! Same thing with the t shirts.I have learned that alot goes back as a return

I am glad I read this thread!! We are going next week and now I will know to be a bit more careful when buying clothes for my DS. Thanks for the heads up!!!

My parents bought my son a size 2 shirt two years ago-- it fits him now that he's wearing size 4-5. However the size 4/5 shirt they bought for my daughter was very tight (she was only wearing a 3 at the time) and she only wore it once or twice. :confused3

I always have to really look at the stuff I buy from the Disney store at home or try them on the kids before we rip the tags off.

Yes, and the adult sizing at the disneystore online is terrible too. I have found the bathing suits run huge! Which makes me feel good initially (Wow, a size " " is swimming on me!:rotfl:) but then I have to send it back.

I had the same problem with an ESPN shirt that I purchased while at Disney. Have you contacted Disney and let them know the date of your purchase and the problem? When I did, they sent me a new one in a larger size and asked me to give the old one to charity. I was very detailed in my letter and provided all of my receipt information. It is worth a shot if your son really likes the sweatshirt. I know try all clothes on my kids if possible. :wizard:

The tee-shirts at Rainforest Cafe run very small (and then shrink) also.

I had the same problem. On our last day I ran into the hotel gift shop and grabbed a "1st Trip" t-shirt for DS. I purchased him one size up thinking he would get wear out of it all summer. When we got home and he went to wear it, I realized it barely fit him - too small! He only wore it once and now I have it set aside. I'm just going to snip the arms off and make it a rectangle shaped pillow. I figured it would be a nice souvenir.

Size does matter unless it has a Disney label on it. We try everything on before we will purchase it. Too many times things did not match their label.:headache:

I bought DD (age 7) and adult woman's shirt (size small) at WDW and it's not all that big. I bought myself the same shirt in an XL. I normally wear a small or medium.

I so agree with all these statements. I found that the Target, which I think was within a 30 minute drive, had Disney shirts of better sizes. There I got a 3x shirt for myself, which fits me lose like I like them. Where at the World of Disney I went ahead and bought a 5x. I have the same problem with my DS's clothes and even with some tennis shoes that I bought him online through the Disney Store. Drives me crazy.

Yay!! I posted this in the "misery loves company" line of thinking, but I'm so glad this might help someone not make my mistake!!! Enjoy your trip! ;)

I buy my two girls clothes from DisneyShopping.com and have never had a problem. I have boughy summer T-shirts on clearance one summer for the next summer and they fit fine. I have bought swimsuits, rashgards, shoes, PJs, PJ Pals, bathrobes, etc. and never had to return an item for being the wrong size.

This is good to know. I'm a big clothes junkie on trips like this. I'll be way more cautious about buying DD a bunch of stuff now or really checking to see if it'll fit her or us...

I tend to stick to beach towels. They are usually very well made. I have some that are 15+ years old with plenty of wear left on them. We have a pool and use them and wash them every day so they've been through a lot.

My in-laws bought DD an adorable size 18 month onesie during our trip last Fall. DD was 8.5 months old at the time. They saved it for Christmas (2 months later) and it was too small. DD was average height & weight for her age so we were shocked that it didn't fit. We ended up asking friends who went to WDW in January to pick up a 24 month onesie which still fit DD last month. The sizing is very random.
