Disappointed With San Angel Inn

I can understand it regarding adults, but honestly if a 10, 12, 13 year old picky/light eater wants a kids meal and it's paid out of pocket, I think DIsney should alllow it and probably will.

I've never had this problem, my son has always eaten what I've eaten!

Thankfully, none of my kids are picky, but I have one light eater. I'm not sure that I would stay at a restaurant if they wouldn't let him choose a kids meal. (He's still 9, but getting real close to 10 :goodvibes). I can understand it at 12 a little more though.

That sounds like a bummer. We have ADRs here for our next trip. How was the food?

In hindsight, could you have ordered one adult sized kids meal and split between the two? There's no rule against sharing plates, it would have been less expensive and a lot less wasted food. Something for others to consider if they run into the same situation you did.

In foresight - we attempted to do this. However DS11 insisted that he was an adult and was going to eat a full adult portion. In the end he ate 3/4 of it and DS10 ate 1/2 of his.

Thus we skipped dessert after. Which was too bad because the desserts are good there.

OP, sorry to hear you no longer enjoy a long time favorite, I hate it when that happens.:sad1: We haven't been fans of SAI for a long while, I thought the food quality dropped off years ago, and the service as well lately.

My son was a very picky eater, and was still ordering chicken strips or pizza off the kids menu when he was 15! Any restaurant that didn't have something he liked on the adult menu allowed him to order off the kids menu, no problem. (We've never used the DP, always paid out of pocket.) I hope WDW is not changing this policy (and whether it was an official policy or not, every restaurant allowed it, making it de facto policy) as it was a huge relief for us that we could always find something for him to eat - I imagine there are other parents in the same boat!

BTW - I've never thought restaurants were "trying to help parents" by having a kids menu, lol. They are helping themselves by enticing families to eat out. Have you seen what a kids meal entails? Very small portions and lesser quality preparation - I should certainly hope the price was less!
