Disappointed with Housekeeping BWV

I just got home from a 9 night stay in studio4058 at BWV. While we had an absolutely wonderful time, I was very discouraged by housekeeping. I would appreciate it if others could clue me in to whether these are problems at all DVC resorts, problems at BWV, or just plain bad luck.
We checked in Sat 8/30 at 3:00 (an hour early) and the front desk found a room for us.
When we got to the room, the first thing I checked was the kitchenette, because I wasn't sure what was supplied. The only items in our cabinet were 4 glasses & 2 coffee mugs. I promptly called housekeeping & they brought up a bag of paper plates, cups, bowls, & plastic silverware.
Upon further inspection, we noticed that there was a full (OVERFLOWING) can of garbage under the bathroom sink. So I call housekeeping again. They promised to come take it. We left for 4 hours & they never came. I called back & they came to take the trash.
Our sheets smelled like mildew. We did nothing about this, because I had already bothered them twice & I figured it would be taken care of during our full-cleaning day. (which it was)

They came for our regular cleaning day.

On Trash & Towel Day, they forgot us. Once 5:00 hit, I called housekeeping to see if I had the date wrong. I didn't. They simply forgot us.
While this didnt' ruin our vacation by any means, it was quite annoying. One of the reasons we bought DVC is so we could have Deluxe accomodations. Me having to check up on housekeeping does not prove to be quality or deluxe.

Which of the supplies can we get replenished without having to pay an extra charge? We ran out of toilet paper- a roll and a half for two people for 9 nights seems to be cutting it a bit close. Would have called about this as well, but we made it til the last day (phew!). And the paper dishes. Do they give you the same amount no matter how long your stay is? We found ourselves washing paper plates, because we didnt think we would need to bring our own in addition to the regular supply. 12 plates is not enough for 2 for 9 nights.

Sorry for the incredibly long post. I want to clear these things up. I may write a formal letter of complaint, so these problems can be remedied for others.

Thanks for any resonses!

Allison

Hi, Alliekat79. There is a currently a couple of threads in this forum that discuss housekeeping (or lack of it).
As much as I hate to admit it, it does seem somewhat hit or miss. :(
I truly hope that DVC is taking note of the housekeeing threads here on the DIS...

I was in a one bedroom #4022 in August and I had to call for toilet paper and paper towels. Our garbage disposal smelled like rotten food. I had to call maintenance 1/2 hour after we got to the room because the toilet almost overflowed and the stripping on the balcony door was half off.

I finally saw our maid the day before we checked out and she couldn't have been nicer asking if there was anything we needed. I guess better late than never

This is my understanding:

Toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing soap and dishwasher detergent (latter is for 1 bedrooms and larger only) will be replenished without charge whenever you run out. Should not have to wait for T&T service or a full cleaning.

Paperware and plasticware are like the coffee packets and laundry detergent (latter for 1 bedrooms and larger only) - they only get replenished on T&T day or with a full service cleaning. If you need more than what is provided, you'll need to bring your own.

Sorry you ran into those problems. I encourage you to write the letter and if anything similar (more than one problem or room in poor condition at check in) happens in the future, please call and ask for "Housekeeping Manager" or "Head Housekeeper". I would give housekeeping the benefit of the doubt only one time. I met the BW Head Housekeeper at the last annual meeting, but have since forgotten her name. She seemed competent, very nice and very concerned about the quality of service her department provides. I'm sure she'd be quite upset to find out the state of your room at check in and also the poor service you received from her group.

Best wishes -

P.S. FWIW, we've stayed at the BWV several times in all sizes of rooms except the GV and have not encountered missing items, poor housekeeping or anything like you have described. Hoping your recent experience was just a fluke.

Allison, I am sorry you had these problems. Please do not feel you shouldn't do something when you are bothered/concerned about something like mildew smelling sheets. I agree with another poster that you should call housekeeping & ask to speak to a supervisor. CMs want to know what members like or do not like at any given time. Please do not hesitate to call a supervisor.
