Disappointed with Cinderella Royal Castle

I don't believe WDW has anywhere near 300 TS Restaurants where there are servers. Where do you get that number from?

I didn't say there were 300 TS restaurants at WD. I said 300 restaurants on property. And I was wrong.....the total number according to Disney is: 399 Restaurants.
How many of them are QS? 185
with food trucks and fast causal adding another 5 or 10 (forgot the exact number andd since nobody is paying me- what do I care?:D). That would leave a bit over 200 restaurants that are TS by Disney's calculations and how many of them are signature was already discussed up post.

I couldn't agree more. I don't think any amount of money could make me want to work in a Service job at WDW in today's entitled world. Custodial, maybe I would consider.
I worked in the Hospitality industry almost my entire adult life and enjoyed it except for when it was annoying, lmao. Wild horses couldn't get me to work in a custodial service position although I admire those who do and can credibly.
For my sight, the world has always been entitled in one way or another
.
Whether I could work at WDW is a totally different story which I never had the pleasure or misfortune of thinking about. I do know that if I did... I'd want to get paid a real world salary;).

It has been almost a year and my husband still complains about the miniature steak they served him at CRT. It was the same size as the one my son had eaten in his kids meal at the skippers canteen the day before. :hyper:
I agree. The steak was had at sci fi was way better the night before, and 3x the size. Probably the most disappointing meal ever at WDW. The princess interaction wasn't even great.

Haven't been myself, but I have seen enough bad reviews of the places over the years that I wouldn't go.

My in-laws took the kids there many years ago before it was a character meal at dinner, and they weren't happy with it.

I'd do it again. It was a special experience to sit there and have breakfast with my Mom overlooking the Magic Kingdom. We had a great waitress, the characters were very good and overall I thought I got exactly what I paid for and anticipated. It is not my favourite character meal (Trattoria al Forno takes that honour) but there are no regrets and I am so happy I got to share that experience with my Mom.

:earseek:Wow!! Sign me up!!:rotfl:

1) You, and a lot f other people.
2) Many SERVERS make in excess of $80k.
3) That is why the full-time waiting list for many SERVER vacancies is typically over 2-years.
4) Folks think ALL Disney employees don't make a lot of money, but there are some classifications that pay quite well.
. . . EXAMPLE: Housekeepers (room maids) make more than Front Desk and Concierge employees
. . . EXAMPLE: Bellmen make a set rate per room to deliver DME luggage, even when the guest is not present

NOTE: I do not tip housekeepers when we stay at Disney, because they make a pretty good wage. Plus, they get bonuses for cleaning rooms ahead of schedule and even get to leave work early and get paid for a whole shift. In most cases, they even get a per-room bonus. Maids at WDW get far better wages than at other hotels in the area.

I don't buy your statements. You can write "EXAMPLE" in all caps as many times as you like. That doesn't make them facts.

Housekeepers deserve the level of pay they get. Or more.

Specifically, Disney covers the tip for DME-transported luggage. Guests not availing themselves of this DME service - i.e. area residents staying onsite - should not use this as an excuse not to tip.

I would think as someone who works at WDW Rusty knows what is what.

I agree I have found Rusty’s facts to actually be facts over the years. He knows what he is talking about. I never before had considered what servers make at Disney. I found this to be very interesting. My daughter is now contemplating a career at DW to work her way up to server instead of college lol

When I worked at CRT, MANY of the servers had been there forEVER (like 20+ years)....when we got a new server that had only been at WDW for less than 5 years, we were FLABBERGASTED.....

I went back about 4 years ago (and the breakfast food was a sad shadow of the deliciousness that it used to be) I recognized probably 95% of the servers, and that was 7 years after I left....

Waitering can be a burnout position, physically and mentally. There is a reason you don't see many service people older than 50 and it's not just because they all got rich in the 30 years before.

i agree with you, @Shanti

Rusty claims to work at WDW, often speaks of making fun of guests behind their backs, speaks to posters here condescendingly. I don't believe most of what he claims to know, including that he works at WDW.

I find this all very interesting and I do believe it could very well be true for the most part. Imagine though years ago when tips were in cash and not placed mostly on cards as they are now. I bet they really racked up then with regards to "cash"!

As far as some of the posts Rusty Scupper has made in this and other threads, I agree with some of what he says in terms of how WDW operates; some seems to be..... hyperbole when compared to other hotels' operations.
It's sort of like the world turned upside down.

I'm sure Disney has employed innovations in some hotel operations but to say that bell staff makes more than than front desk workers is a tad disingenuous. Might start out that way but doesn't end there when you factor in the ability to advance and receive more benefits.
I rarely noted "rich" housekeepers/maids but they certainly had a solid footing in the middle class once they were there a few years.

Yes the proliferation of plastic made a BIG difference in the economics of people in this field. In NYC, the hourly rate was increased from something like 2.15 @ hour to 5.00, LOL! No one even attempted to live off their no tips included weekly pay check but having the IRS (and in NYC, NYS and NYC Dept. of Finance) breathing down your neck for truth in total wages was made much easier by the proliferation of credit cards.
I still tip everyone but waitstaff in cash; force of habit I guess.

I never really did any waitress type work, but I have always wondered, when wait staff are tipped in cash, there is no way it can be traced, correct? I mean it would just have to be on the "honor" system wouldn't it?
