So, I was very eager to try Yak and Yeti for the first time..high hopes as the built the place. That said, the reviews haven't been glimmering and, quite frankly, the prices are a bit steep (we dine at signature restaurants nightly, but for the food seems too expensive). We opted for the take out version on the side of the building as some of the choices were interested in at Yak and Yeti were available as a minimal price there.

I'm sad to report that the food just wasn't up to par. It was equivalent to mall chinese food...makes me very sad. And, we still spent $30 for two entrees, one drink, and egg rolls. I think I'll stick with my beloved Flame Tree unless there is improvement here........

What do you expect from the company (Landry's) who also owns and operates the sub-par Rainforest Cafe restaurants. I was hoping for a good Table Service restaurant in AK......maybe someday!!!

Shouldn't that be McLandry's?:rolleyes1 And yet some people (not many) have raved about this place. Disney realizes (sadly) that if they offer "it" a good many people will defend it to no end, no matter what and that's really disappointing, IMO.

I agree.......My question is why Disney has tied itself so tightly with Landry's and their consistently poor food products; Rainforest Cafe (2 locations), Yak & Yeti, and next T-Rex??? This company seems to be more about cheesy themes and gimmicky marketing. Landry's needs to be held to a certain standard of food quality since they have become a major table service dining presence at WDW.

Couldn't agree more - dined there saturday

That is sad to hear. I hadn't heard before that they were run by the Rainforest People (Gods I hate that place). Can you let us know exactly what two entrees you ordered and what you didn't like about them? It would help greatly with future food choices.

We had the honey chicken--basically same chicken nuggets the kids had with honey sauce and mushy white rice crammed in the bottom of the box. We also had the sweet and sour pork--awful--no flavor, and tiny, hard, tough pieces of pork--same mushy white rice....

My DW and I found the food to be no more than a typical Chinese restaurant with little of the imaginative differences that we have read about in some of the reviews. I had the Honey Chicken. It was basically sweet and sour chicken on white rice. Granted, it was only one lunch so we may try it again. We did like the atmosphere, but would prefer to get a table at the windows next time. :)

OH, What a shame! I have a ADR for Yak in May. I may have to reconsider this. I had so wanted to eat here. This is a special trip for us!:goodvibes
