Disappointed - Renewal on AP

I originally posted this on DVC thread but it was suggested that may Cheshire (or anyone else) would know the answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Last year I had upgraded my AP to a PAP (like alot of us did). I called DVC today to renew my pass and asked the cast member if I was able to do a renewal price on an AP since I was not renewing the PAP (too expensive without the discount). Since it was a different type of pass she told me that I had to pay full price for the AP not the renewal price.

Anyone else run into this?

That is the opposite of what Cheshire has posted here repeatedly. You can downgrade your pass and still get the renewal.

G. What are the rules for Renewal Annual Passes (and what About Renewal Vouchers)?

To renew any sort of Annual Pass it must be done within 30 days of either side of the expiration date. Note that upgrading or downgrading of any annual product may be done at the special renewal rate.

I would just call the AP number, not DVC, to do this.
