Just Returned From Our Trip To Disney On Sunday Evening. We Stayed At The French Quarter Thursday - Sunday. We Go To Disney 3 Times A Year And This Was Our First Time At The French Quarter. We Love Disney And Pretty Much Have Loved All The Resorts We Have Stayed In. We Did Not Feel That French Quarter Was Worth The Money We Payed.

Pros:
1. Our Kids Loved The Pool Area.
2. We Were Close To The Dining Area

Cons:
1. This Place Was Filthy! It Was Busy This Weekend But The Place Was Dirty. The Food Court Was Always Messy And Housekeeping Always Kept There Big Buckets In The Walkways. (all Day)

2. Bed Bugs - We All Woke Up Every Morning With Bug Bites. My Sister-in-law And Her Family Stayed There As Well. They Had Bites Too.

3. Transportation - We Waited Forever For Buses And Boats. We Were The Only Ones To Board The Mgm Bus And We Must Of Waited 35 Minutes For It. We Also Waited On The Dtd Boat For Over 30 Minutes. Boats Would Come But They Would Say They Were Going To Riverside Only. When We Were In Dtd We Waited 25 Minutes For A Bus To Come And Take Us Back To The Resort.

Here Is A List Of Places We Have Stayed:
Wilderness Lodge
Riverside
Carribean Beach
Pop Century
Poly

Please Do Not Think I Am Picky, I Just Was Not Happy With This Resort.

I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy the resort. We just got back on wednesday, we stayed a week at FQ and LOVED it.

We never waited long for a bus or a boat. Our room was spotless and mousekeeping was very good about cleaning our room around our toddler's nap schedule, all we had to do was call.

We saw the cleaning carts outside the rooms too during mousekeeping hours, but didn't think anything of it. I'm not sure where else they would park them, and they have over a thousand rooms to clean each day.

The only other Disney resort we stayed at was the Grand Floridian a couple years ago and we will absolutely stay at FQ when we go in two years.

There was a woman working in the food court each day we were there cleaning tables etc.. I found the drink station to be kept very clean as well as the tables and condiment area.

I'm not arguing with your experience, I just don't want others to think that yours is the only experience. We were just there for a week and it was fantastic.

You know, people on this board RAVE about French Quarter and everyone has different opinions. I think its about personal preferences. I personally prefer Riverside & Coronado Springs!

I've stayed at French Quarter twice, and I just didn't get the 'Disney' feeling from it. Its a beautifully themed resort, I just didn't get the appeal. People say that it is small, but when you are placed in building 7 in the WAY back most people would agree that is a pretty long walk!!! However, I stayed there in September 2006 for a week and February 2007 for a short trip and I didn't have the issues of it being dirty, it was very clean to me. The busses did run slow, IMO. Some days we were waiting up to 45 minutes for a bus to a park.

I'm sorry you were disappointed with the resort. And bed bugs :scared1: That is horrible!!!

All I can say is... if I had bug bites on Morning Number 1, I would have NOT been in the same room for Morning Number 2. :sad2:

I am sorry that you did not enjoy POFQ. It is our favorite moderate. We have stayed there twice now. We have never had any of the problems that you mentioned. I would never hesitate to stay there.
On the other hand, I read all the time people raving about Pop Century and we hated it. We won't be staying there again.
This just reminds us that we all have different opinions and thank goodness Disney has enough variety to please almost all of us.

Wow it sounds like you had a bad time. I hope you reported that you might have had bed bugs.:scared:

We just left there Saturday. It was our first time there and probably won't be the last. We really enjoyed the resort. Our room was always clean-never had bed-bugs- I was in building #3.

The only thing I did notice and mentioned to my DH was there were fruit flies over by the soda machines in the food court. The food court itself was clean.

The only bus issues I had were from Epcot at night. 6 busses one night before we actually got on. 5 the next and it was 2 hours before closing

We all have our preferrences. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay there. Of the other resorts you have been to- which one did you like best? I would stick with that one :goodvibes

I have stayed at FQ four different trips. Most recently Nov 06. I really like this resort, our rooms have always been nice, especially the two that had a view of the river.;) Our last trip to WDW we stayed at OKW and even went to FQ for breakfast one morning. I thought the food court was clean and well staffed. I also like POR, CBR, and WL. I didn't care for CS, but so many on the board really like this resort.

:boat: Just an added note to your comment about the boat transportation from DD. We didn't want to wait for a boat so we opted to take the bus, too many stops, 1 at West side, then another 4 at POR. I am pretty sure we should have waited for the boat even if it took 35 minutes to pick us up.

Cons:
2. Bed Bugs - We All Woke Up Every Morning With Bug Bites. My Sister-in-law And Her Family Stayed There As Well. They Had Bites Too.

What building did you stay in? What did the hotel do when you told them about the bed bugs?

I'm going in August and I'm concerned about the bed bugs now.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. We've stayed at POFQ twice and never experienced any of these problems. Sounds like something that could happen at any of the resorts, though. But, first impressions are everything and if it happened to me, I probably would be hesitant about staying there again. Fortunately, I have never had a bad experience at any of the Disney resorts.

I'm wondering about the bed bugs too. Did you see bedbugs or evidence of bed bugs in your room? Did you call the front desk about the bedbugs?

When we went in September for one night we were not very pleased.

Very dirty and such.

P.S. We stayed in Building 7

Sorry about your experiences. :confused3 We've enjoyed all our stays at POFQ. But then the only one we didn't care for, was CSR.

The only place we've had a problem with room cleanliness was in Jan. 06 at CBR, however, it was handled the same day. Luckily, we've never experienced bed bugs, and if I ever do, I would immeadiately request another room-if not at the same resort, then another. There is no excuse for bed bugs and no guest should ever have to put up with them.

As far as transporation goes, our family always rents a vehicle. With all the trips we've taken to WDW, we've never used the buses. It's not the reason we rent a vehicle, it's just one of the added benefits. We rent becuae we do, occassionly leave Disney property. Having our own transportation gives us alot of freedom. :goodvibes

I'm glad your kids enjoyed the pool. :goodvibes Did you have any beignets? Love them! :cloud9:

Sorry to hear it was so disappointing. We are staying there for the first time in March. I am excited and still looking forward to it. No resort is perfect, you will always find someone who had something horrible happen at any resort. I hope your next trip and resort are better for you. I hope you brought up the bug issue to the Front Desk. Did they do anything?

Allyson

Maciemouse---it looks as if you have stayed in a variety of WDW hotels, so, hopefully , you know that's not typical. I hope you reported your dissatisfaction to the management while you were at Disney. Bedbugs can happen anywhere, but no one should have to endure bites for several days. Generally, if you speak with management about problems while you are still onsite, they can try to rectify the situation. Once you get home, it's tough for Disney to do anything. Sorry for your hardships.

Sorry you did not like the POFQ.

Hopefully, you're planning your next stay and next resort.

Well thats a bummer. I remember my first onsite stay was at Dixie Landings and I was disappointed. No particular reason, it was just a letdown and not as amazing as I had expected onsite to be =( Well since then, CBR and CSR have restored my faith in the onsite magic :goodvibes

I don't want to be totally negative about the resort. We did enjoy the pool. We stayed in building 2. I was just not impressed with it. That is my opinion and I am not by any means trying to stop anyone from staying there. I have never had this experience at Disney until now. I think that there was so many negatives that happened at the resort. When we arrived we asked for a Bell man to get our luggage. The person behind the bell service desk could not find one to help us. He said he would not be able to do it, so we took our own. When we checked in, I told them that it was my son's birthday. He turned 4 while we were on our trip. They said they would send balloons, which we never got. The bed rails we requested were not in the room either. My sister-in-law and I had ajoining rooms. I noticed the kids had little bites on there legs Saturday morning. My arms and legs were itching in the middle of the night. When we were leaving on Sunday, my sister in law mentioned that she and the girls had little bug bites. I told her we experienced the same thing. Also, right by our building were huge carts of dirty sheets. These carts were huge, not cleaning carts. They stayed there the whole weekend. It was just an eye sore to see. I love Disney and can't wait to return in September. I just did not love French Quarter. The gift shop and food court was so much smaller than the other resorts we stayed in. After all said, we still had a great time!

I don't get it. I love POFQ. Also, if it was that bad why did you not report it immediately? I would have. Did you actually see bed bugs? If you didn't, how do you know that you actually were bitten by them? I am not in any way doubting you. I am just wondering why you did not report it. If there truely were bed bugs, it needed to be reported or they can spread to others. If you didn't report it then, then you need to now.:) I am sorry you did not have a magical stay there.

what did the front desk say/do about the bed bugs? we'll be staying there in a few weeks.
