Disappointed in Pop/Value Level

Pop Century here we come! 60's bldg. so we can dash to the AOA pool! Can beat that Value. :cool1:

Disney only allows "pool hopping" for DVC members, and there are pools that are not allowed even then...including all AoA pools.

When I go to Disney with a family of four we spend on average 4000.00. That would be staying at the Pop for 9 days. That is my choice. But again I stress not cheap. Remember, we do Disney a favor by coming and spending lots of Money! I don't think of it as Disney doing me a big favor.

You are not "doing them a favor". You are buying something that they have for sale. You know what the cost is, and what they are offering you, before you buy. It may be "not cheap" but you know that ahead of time.

And if your family spends 9 days at WDW, very little of the $4000 you say you spend is on your resort, if you are staying at the Pop. During Christmas the Pop is $186 a night. That is the most expensive time of year. Even if you paid that rate for the whole stay your room would cost you only $1600.

I agree. I've never understood 'doing a business a favor' by utilizing them. It's a business. You're a consumer. Put your money where you'd like. It's a business arrangement, not a favor :headache:

I do my neighbor a favor when I mow his lawn. If we agreed to exchange money to do it then it becomes a business arrangement. It may be convenient for him, but it's no longer a favor.

But to know what you like and don't like you have to try things at least once which can lead to a bad experience

Sometimes, sure. But to go to a resort that doesn't have the amenities I require or that I'm looking for would be a sure fire way to have a bad experience. I have standards for hotels/resorts when I travel and I make sure to book accordingly. If I only stay at the Ritz I can't book a Days Inn and expect the same things.

If I go somewhere that doesn't have a gym, and during my stay I realized how nice it would be to go work out in one, then it would be something I'd know for next time. I can't say it'd give me a bad experience though. I just didn't know I wanted it and now I do.

I would think dirty rooms, unfriendly staff, and not having amenities listed would give me a bad experience.

To know, that the establishment I'm trying does not have the amenities that my family required, would lead to a bad experience. If I know, going into that hotel, motel, resort does not have the amenities that my family requires and have a bad experience, what does that say about me? Why did I ever take them there in the first place? If I am aware that it will not fulfill my families needs, simply by reading the amenities that are included, what right to I have to complain?

I can't wait to take my Family back to Pop! Is it the nicest hotel they've stayed in? Not remotely. Can they survive and have the time of their lives from inside it's doors? Well, that is entirely up to them. Even though they have stayed in much more upscale hotels during their life, they are not here for those things. They are here to experience Disney, and if any family is attempting to do that from inside a hotel room, they are doing it wrong.

Walt's Magic is in your head, not in your room. Forget about the little things and find the littler things. The more you can see Walt's World through the eyes of a child the more you will appreciate it.

I am kinda shocked by people being disappointed by POFQ. What were you expecting, exactly, that you didn't get? It's hardly just an average motel. What average motel has greeters who give the kids coins for the wishing fountain? Pool parties? Campfires? Live entertainment? Nice pool with a water slide? A hot tub? A playground? Boat transportation? Outdoor movies?ive never seen that at an average motel and since we do lots of road trips, we've stayed at plenty of average motels that we come across along the way.

They are complaining about POP not POFQ - but, I'm sure some people would complain about POFQ as well -- that's why there are 34 resorts on property -- something for everyone but not everyone for everyone.

I'm thinking it was some pseudo high rollers looking for more than they paid for. Their actual comparison to the Super 8 might have outed them. At any level.

If that is what you are used to, you'll expect a lot more from Disney.
If you have been to other levels of hotels outside of Disney you might have more of a gauge as to what to expect.

Or they were someone that had nothing better to do than hate on Disney that day.:3dglasses

Our last stay (My husband and myself) at POP was in 2011, we loved it! We alternate between POP and the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness -- which is a Moderate, at Deluxe prices! :scared1:
For only a few dollars more we could stay at WL, but we love the privacy, and space of the cabins.

I like POP I don't go to Disney to go to the gym!!! As for restaurants you can use any in the other resorts. Plus at some of the other resorts you can't get anything to eat or drink when you come back late at night. The food court in POP is opened till 12.

I don't go to Disney for the gym either, but working out is part of my daily routine. I'm not going to skip
my healthy habits just because I'm at Disney. I would never stay at a hotel that doesn't have a gym or some dining options other than fast food.

But you'd post in an online forum about it? Did you receive an invitation or are you just exercising your right to complain?

I pay 4000.00 for the whole trip. That is not the hotel cost. Yes I am doing Disney a big favor buy purchasing what they have to sell. I look at it that way. The only reason I stay at the Pop is because it allows me to go twice a year. I know exactly what I am getting. A small room with horrible beds. But the good news is I am in Disney! We can all voice our opinions on a topic. That is what makes a good discussion board.

So you continue to settle instead of speaking with your money? Weren't you the person that said if we continue to accept less, we will keep getting less?

Outside the world, I too prefer 3 or 4 star luxury hotels. I like pop though and aoa. Yea the room is little and not fancy and no balcony or very amenities BUT for not much money we pull up, park our car and have the most efficient transportation ever. Also we love the convenience of the food court. To me, it is well worth the money!:)

I am really kind of over this. Like I said earlier it's small and the beds are horrible. The hotel is not intended for long stays. I guess use it for the basics. If you can afford a moderate or deluxe go for it.
