Disappointed in CRT Dinner But Loved 1900 Park Fare

We just returned from a weeks visit and had a blast, loved all our dinner reservations, except were disappointed in the CRT dinner. I knew going in we would only see Cinderella downstairs but the Fairy Godmother and mice barely make an appearance and when my daughter asked the mouse to sign her book, she pointed to her watch meaning no time. The Fairy Godmother never visits the tables just does a little skit, and the food was no better than the other character meals. It was just the opposite at 1900 Park Fare. There were more characters than I expected. 3 mice instead of the two at CRT and Prince Charming was there as well as Cinderella, and they all came up to visit and had plenty of time to talk to my daughter and sign her book. The other character dinners were more like 1900 Park Fare with the characters really interacting with the kids. If I had it all to do over again I would definitely skip the CRT dinner, and save the two TS for the character dinners. Maybe next time I'll try the Luau.

This is exactly the info I was looking for on a different thread I started.

Thanks for the review! I have ADR's for 1900 Park Fare and decided to skip CRT based on some negative reviews. I feel good knowing that my dd will not be missing out on anything by not going to CRT!

Thanks for that review. I was starting to feel bad that I didn't take my daughters to CRT on our first visit to Disney last month. Now I don't feel so bad.

What time was your reservation? We skipped both CRT and Princess Norway dinner for Park Fare. When is a good time to go? :confused3

Thanks!

Tracy

Wow, I'm surprised. On our visit to Cinderella's Castle breakfast last year, each princess (cinderella, mary poppins, belle, aurora, snow white) all made appearances and took tons of time and pictures with our family. Not to mention, when we were leaving the breakfast we saw the fairy godmother downstairs in the foyer signing autographs and taking pics. I hope and pray that it's as wonderful this year. Snow white spent like 15 minutes talking to my neice sitting on the floor with her. It is such a great memory.

Our reservation was for 5:50, and we got there about 1/2 and hour or 20 minutes early and they had no trouble seating us early.

Breakfast and Lunch may be different. I knew when I made the reservation that Cinderella doesn't come to the dinner. There were definitely no princesses and the Fairy Godmother and mice showed up for our last 10 minutes then left saying they had somewhere they had to be.

Breakfast and lunch are princess character meals. Dinner is not. The appearance by the mice and the Fairy Godmother is supposed to be a magical moment, not a character meal- that's why they don't do autographs. In the beginning, the mice have only 7 minutes to stop by every table before the Fairy Godmother starts talking. I'm so sorry that you felt jipped. I'm not sure I like this new format either, and I perform in it. I'd prefer to give guests the chance to fully interact.

How did you see 3 mice at 1900? There are only 2 mice from Cinderella who make resturant appearances. Was Minnie filling in on the day you went?

Same here... CRT for breakfast and we hated it! Ok not hate but it wan't the highlight of the day like we expected. Food was ok, nothing great but the service stunk! Princesses barely said hello said they had to hurry and our server didn't come back. She had a table next to us of like 15 people (or more) and they got all her attention. I grabbed another waitress and asked for refills and she helped out with other items also. Our waitress came back in the end and said (in a rude voice) "is there a problem here?"... i was trying ot be nice but said "no nothign that your co-worker couldn't handle for you"

1900 Park Fair was great... food was wonderful... interaction was A++ and the only negative was the wait in line outside for Goofy stopped right before our time and we had to wait 10 minutes for him to come back!

We found we didnt like CRT after the changes last year.
We wont be going back.
We LOVED 1900 PARK FAYRE!!! it was fab. I think Disney are charging toooo much just for the privilaege to eat in the castle............. been there done it once, not again thanks............ now 1900 Park Fayre, we have ADRS for Oct !!!!

I'll echo the above. We didn't think CRT was worth the $ in December, but 1900 Park Fare was great. The characters spent a lot of time with the kids. Prince Charming even joked with my teen about her "Prince Kyle"--we mentioned that Kyle might be jealous of her having picture taken with another man. We had a blast.

Thanks for the review! :thumbsup2

We have decided to skip CRT this time - we're doing 1900 Park Fare Dinner and Princess Storybook Lunch at Norway in Epcot instead! :teeth:

DD really wanted to go back to the castle (we did breakfast there in 2004 before all the changes) but is quite happy to visit the princesses at their "other" castle in Norway! :rotfl:

I'm so glad to hear the good reviews for 1900 pak fare. We are going there in June Can't wait!!! :cool1:

Thank you for the review!

We've dined at CRT for dinner when it was just a regular TS dinner and always loved it. We were so sad to hear that they were changing it to a character thing for dinner, and I'm not willing to shell out that kind of cash (or 2 TS credits for that matter) for that kind of rig-a-ma-role. We also booked at 1900 PF for our Aug trip - we've never done it for dinner, so we're hoping to have a great Cindy fix that way (with Prince Charming as an added bonus)!

Thanks again and glad to hear you had a great trip!! :sunny:

I also loved 1900 Park Fare -

Since its a GF restaurant, you can also pre order a cake, or slippers for your special occasion from the bakery - even more magical for us!!

Outside by the valet parking they have a white carriage (not the Cinderella movie one) that dd loved sitting in, made great pictures!!

So glad to hear it!! Dd's wanted to see Cinderella again and I wasn't in the mood for the castle again. We ate dinner in the Castle in '04 before it changed.
We did the Princess lunch there in Sept '05. We enjoyed it. The food was good, not to expensive and the Princesses were great, especially Cinderella. She took youngest Dd out of her high chair and talked to her for a few minutes. It was really sweet. I'm sorry to hear the dinner wasn't as nice and glad that I didn't book it either.
We booked 1900 also and I've read great things about it. I can't wait to get there and see how Dd's enjoy it. :goodvibes

Megand...

Wow! I am curious? Who was the 3rd mouse? My DD loves Suzy and Perla and would absolutely love it if she could see Jacques or Gus Gus! What did he/she look like? :woohoo:

Thanks for the great review of 1900 Park Fare!!! We're going there in June for DD's brithday dinner - I can't wait! :goodvibes

You know you may be right there may have only been two. I could have sworn there were three and my daughter got two signatures then wanted to wait for the third mouse, but looking at my pictures there are only two different costumes, greenish and purple, so it may have been my imagination. I've seen Cinderella, but didn't know how many mice there were. Either way, we loved 1900 Park Fare.
