Disappointed in BLT

Room 8432 - pretty good shape. Sink stopper fixture in the bathroom was broken, and I meant to report it when we left, but I forgot. Dresser/ entertainment furniture shows dust quickly, but it was dusted when we arrived. My grandaughter really enjoyed the resort. It was her first stay. We have enjoyed our 3 stays there too, and would not hesitate to spend a few days there on a lengthy trip, if we can book it a 7 months. We enjoy resort hopping, and often call at 7 months to move a few days to a different resort. But then again, we almost always drive, so we don't have to deal with bell services if we don't want to.

We were assigned a room during our BLT stay that had a bad smell. It smelled to us like someone had spilled milk in the rug and not cleaned it up. We called the desk and asked to be changed before even unpacking our bags. I really hope they cleaned it rather than just putting some other family in there. Didn't notice anything in the hallways, and the room they changed us to was fine. Furniture was a little banged up, but we loved everything else about the resort. Purchased points there shortly after returning home.

Junky!!! That my Dhubby and me always say when something does not go well!! So, sorry your villa was Junky.

We just joined DCL last year and had our first stay at our home resort BLT this past April. We loved it. We were in a 2 bedroom, it literally was the last room on the left on the 9th floor. It was perfect for us. The view was incredible, it felt as if we were on a ship when we looked out the large picture window and all you saw was water. The size of the window in the living room is incredible. Our master bedroom balcony looked out towards Space Mountain and I also had a view of the castle if I just looked a little more to the left. And we did not pay for the view.

From reading these boards religiously, I was aware to look for wear and tear problems. I noticed two, a pen mark on the booth seat and a faint spot on the sofa cushion on the reverse side. I only noticed it because we used the sofa bed.

We loved the location and my boys are 17, 13, and 11. We had use of not only BLT facilities but the Contemporary's. We love having the monorail right there, the boat to WL for dinner and of course being able to walk to MK. For us it was less then 10 minutes, no little kids. We also loved the theming, being less Disney. TOWL lounge gorgeous....

We also loved not having to walk far to the pool, since it is a high rise everything is right there, not spread out.

I would give it another chance in the future.:cool1:

OP sorry your stay wasn't what you expected. We just got back a couple weeks ago and there was no smell that I can recall....

I just returned from a stay at BLT in May. The location, TOTW lounge, views, connection to the CR is great! Otherwise, to me it really felt like a regular hotel.
I did enjoy my stay, and just booked another trip for next year. I feel very lucky to be able to stay there with DVC.
I didn't like how they say it is so secure by having to use a room key to enter, but yet anybody can walk in from the CR walkway.

You know, when we stayed at BLT in March, it varied as to whether you could access the walkway from the CR to BLT without your KTTW card. Sometimes the door opened without the key and sometimes not. There didn't seem to be any pattern to it and it wasn't at any partcular time of day it was locked.
We were staying there over our vow renewal and twice our vendors had trouble accessing the building. It wasn't an issue, as they rang us and we escorted them to our room, but I guess sometimes the security is better than others!!
We love BLT and were pleasently surprised that we had a two bedroom standard that was more or less perfect. I didn't notice any unusual smell either.

So sorry you had problems with your stay we visited in may a 1 br odd number room forget the room number but it was on the 14 th floor no smells and I didn't notice anything wrong in the room we would stay there again....probably our 3rd favorite resort after BWV and BCV

I spent a week at BLT just 2 weeks ago. We stayed in room 7229, a dedicated 2BR on the pool side of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and in good shape. There was a couple of scuff marks on the wall but that was it and no particular odor that I noticed. I loved it's location and the rooftop lounge. Overall it was a great trip and I look forward to going back.

Sorry you didn't enjoy BLT. My only suggestion, and this is the same for any DVC resort, is not to judge the resort based on one trip. We've had good and not-so-good experiences at nearly every DVC resort (yes we've stayed in all the on-site ones) and find something to like about all of them.

We stayed in BLT for the first time this past April and are eager to try it again next May. You might want to give it another chance at some point. Thanks for the report, and hopefully your next DVC stay will be a magical one. :)

Ditto! :thumbsup2

No smell in our 2 bedroom in May. I saw a couple of marks on furniture...nothing noteworthy. Our coffeemaker died..they brought up a new one.

I felt some of the furniture coverings were a bad idea and wouldn't wear well, like the light brown sofa and the sleeper chair.

I have friends who are also DVC members. We usually travel together, but this year we went different weeks in June. We went the first week and stayed at BCV and they went two weeks later and stayed at Kidani at AKV.

We decided while we were there to take the bus from AK to AKV and look around. DW and I really didn't care for the feel of the resort, I have seen photos of the rooms and they look great. We talked after the visit and both agreed it was not for us.

We didn't share our feelings with our friends. When they got there they texted me and said they never wanted to stay anywhere but there, they loved it.

My longwinded point is obviously, to each his own. Personally I don't particularly care for the looks of BLT or AKV, but I haven't stayed at either. I do like SSR, VWL, BCV and BWV and have stayed at all of these. I'm not sure about OKW yet, but I think I'd give it a try before BLT or AKV...

I agree. W haven't noticed a smell but am worried about how the rooms will age with the heavy vacation use. We will ow soon enough when we see the maintaince fees in 2012.

We were in 8120 (1BR - MK View) in May. We did not notice any strange odors. The room was clean and not visibly worn out. We worried a little after reading posts, but it was a great place to stay. I will agree that there is not a lot of "Disney" about it. Overall, we enjoyed it and would stay there again.

5) I felt the theme wasn't very Disney to me.

We thought it was the most "Disney" like. Can still hear that train a blowin. :wizard:

Maybe the smell was cookies and popcorn from main street.

Thanks Sammie, 8020 NYE's week 2010/11. There were a lot of leaves down but still seemed to be quite a few-and some with color as well.

I stayed two weeks ago in 4 different rooms, I have photos and room numbers, I will post when I can this beginning of this week. I even had a handicap room which was really nice! but bed was too low for me.

did you get an odd numbered number?

those are the only ones to me they need work.

would try BCV or BWV before going back to SSR.

I did have an odd numbered unit. I am trying SSR because there is no chance of getting BWV or BCV at 4 months out during Food and Wine.

I'm just puzzled by the odd numbered rooms. I haven't stayed at BLT yet but am planing on making reservations there tomorrow for our January trip. Do you have a theory why the odd numbered rooms are worse than the even?

I am also curious what the room number has to do with the condition of the rooms?:confused3

Ditto!!

Ok, Spiceycat...you've got us. Why on earth would odd numbered rooms be in worse shape than even numbered rooms?

Do states that start with vowels (Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio) have a lower standard of living than states that start with consonants (Connecticut, Vermont, Mississippi)?

I'm not sure I'm buying into SpiceyCat's theory, but I will offer some context. Not sure the state name comparison is fair, because there is a true difference between odd and even numbered rooms at BLT. Odd numbers face into the center of the building. Even numbered rooms face out. Remember, the building is circular. Rooms on the inside and outside therefore have different shapes. Odd and even numbered rooms are hence different. Conceptually, if the furniture for these two differently shaped rooms is slightly different, it could have been different orders/manufacturers.
