UM - I made your soup today for lunch. It's very good. :) I kept the recipe pretty much the same, but I didn't use mushrooms, and instead of Italian seasoning I used sage sausage, 1/2 tsp of oregano, and 1/4 tsp of rosemary. I think it would also make a dish vegetarian soup, if I didn't use sausage. I have a vegetarian friend, and it tasted like something she would like.

Oh good! I like it with the sage sausage too.

That soup is so filling. Oy! It's one of this weeks BIGGIE successes for me.

I won't toot my own horn till tomorrow though so I don't gain it all back over night from some stupid cosmic jinx.

I'm drinking a vanilla protein shake (Twin Labs) that you mix up with 12 oz. water...VERY cold. I still have to use a straw because of my TMJ. I go to the dentist tomorrow for x-rays. The shake has the consistency of snot and it must be drunk cold and fast or I'll gag. The FLAVOR isn't bad, but the texture is GROSSSS! The number BETTER be pretty tomorrow! (today it IS!)

It went smashing!! I passed with flying colors!!!!!!!!

For those of you who have been around the Peeps board a while, this story will rival the Trixie locking me out of my car story. ;)

Well, we had a family "girls weekend" this past weekend with my mom, sisters, SIL and all the girl granddaughters in TN. Well it lasted a little longer than anticipated. :rotfl: Let me start at the beginning.

I come in from my morning walk on Friday to meet DS coming down the stairs telling me that something is wrong with his eye. His eyelid is red and totally swollen. Ok, now I am Tminus 6 hours from leaving on my trip. :scared1: So, I tell him that we have to get him to the DR that AM because he was also going on a separate trip with my friends to the other side of TN. Well, I was able to get him in, but we had to go to preschool first because they needed help unloading since that big storm was a coming, and I am the only extra kid unloader on Fridays. So we go to the church, help unload the kids, then scoot on to the DR before the bottom falls out.

We get to the DR and DS has a sty in his eye. Nothing big, but is given drops to keep his eye from getting infected since he is going out of town with grownups who aren't his parents, but are the next best thing. ;)

Well, DH calls and tells DS that he will pick him up from preschool and take him to lunch since the DR gave him a nice note that excused him from school on Friday. Well, when DH comes and picks him up, he looks at my tires. He calls me on my cell, while I'm taking the two year olds to go potty;) , and tells me that something is wrong with one of my tires, and I MUST have it seen about before leaving town.

Well, as soon as the last kid was loaded up, I was outta there. Praying all the way to the tire store that it would hold together til I got there. I tell the man that my tire needs to be looked at because it is low. He looks and there is a nice large screw in my tire. He told me that he could patch it, and it should only take about 25 minutes. Ok, that's not too bad. I'm only about 45 min. behind schedule.

I call DH and tell him to check DD out of school and go take her shopping for snacks for our trip. I knew it was close to the time I told her that I would be checking her out, and she would FREAK if I wasn't there. Plus, it would buy some time. :thumbsup2 I get my tire fixed get to the bank, get gas, and buy my goodies, and get home.

We get on the road, and we were only about 1 1/2 hours behind, not bad. I call my SIL to tell her because my mom would worry if I told her. :rolleyes1 So, we were on the road. It was actually a blessing in disguise because that extra time gave all the rain time to move on, and we waved at Celerystalker as we passed by :wave2: and had a nice trip.....UNTIL......

I get within a half mile of my destination, and a GOOSE flew into my windshield, and shattered it like a spider web! :scared1: :scared1: I was not going fast because I had actually slowed down to look at the name of the road where I needed to turn. I saw his friend first, and he cleared my SUV (aka boat on wheels), but his friend obviously didn't stay in formation because he met my windshield right smack in the middle.

So needless to say we were a bit shaken, but I kept driving because it was getting close to dark, and I wanted to be able to survey the damage at our destination. I knew there was nothing we could do about it Friday night because all the local shops were closed. I was here to visit with my family, and I wasn't going to let it ruin our weekend, but I was worried about what to do. Well, it was still sprinkling a little, and my sister was at WalMart, so I called her and told her to get me a tarp. When she got back, I covered my windshield with the tarp and secured it by shutting it into the front doors. That's the redneck way to tie a tarp down. :thumbsup2

So, I get up Saturday morning, and start calling all 4 places (:lmao:) listed in the local yellow pages. Guess what? No one answered. :sad2: So, I go to my car, and get out my local (AL) yellow pages that I keep in my car. I call places that say they are nationwide, and have 1-800 numbers. :thumbsup2 My husband had told me a ball park figure for the cost of a windshield that he had received on Friday night. I got someone to give me a decent price, and they could fix me MONDAY morning. She was meant to help me too because her name was Dory, as in Finding Nemo. :thumbsup2 But we were supposed to be out of our place on SUNDAY. Luckily, there had been a nice new looking hotel at the exit where I got off onto that horrible stretch of road. They could put me and DD up for the night. :thumbsup2

So, the nice windshield man came to the hotel bright and early Monday morning and fixed my windshield. We got on the road by lunchtime, waved to CEL again. :wave2: and got home in time for DD to practice her piano, and get to her softball game. WHEW what a weekend! :faint:

Now feel free to laugh at my misfortune because I sure have. I just realized that I probably got a new windshield for my BIG birthday. :cool2: :rotfl2: I really do feel blessed that it was just a broken windshield. It could have been so much worse. I could have lost control of the car and wrecked, or worse. I feel very lucky that it wasn't anything worse. I believe that God was watching over us.

But, on a serious note, I came home to find out that my neighbor's 17 yo son has been missing since Saturday. Please send some pixie dust, and prayers their way. I can't imagine what they are going through right now. Please pray that he comes back home safely. Update - He has been found!!! Praise God!!

ALLIE!!:rotfl2: :rotfl: No I am not laughing too hard because it happened to us several years ago.A turkey(yes we live in the country) flew up in front of us and hit our windshield.I am so glad you and DD are okay. Did you have a nice visit with the "girls"?

I pray that your neighbor's son returns home safely and soon.

Yes, we had a great time. My DD got to bond with some cousins that she hasn't seen in years.

Funny story, when I called the lady (Dory) about our windshield she told me that they had had a truck driver call earlier, and say that he hit a turkey, and it ended up in the front seat with him! :scared1: We figured she was just telling a story trying to make me feel better. Well, my mom and SIL met my SIL's mom for lunch in a nearby town on their way home. They told SIL's mom about my story, and she said she saw that guy on the news. The impact broke the turkey's neck, and he was on TV holding up the turkey. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: At least I didn't end up on the six o'clock news. :happytv:

Thanks for the prayers. :grouphug: They need it.

YAY!! Glad you are back.

I keep trying to type out a post and keep getting sidetracked by mean old work....

WOW!!!! We already have a plan to spend the day at the pool Friday...We have a character breakfast at Cape May at 10 am..then we are going to chill by the pool head to the MK for the Pirate and Princess Party at around 3 or 4pm

has anybody seen that "little beauties" show on VH1? it's on right now and i feel so sorry for those little girls. i just don't get it!

allie - i will read your post tonight......i'm on my way out the door to the gym right now.

UM - I just wanted to add that I had some more of your soup for dinner, (along with a Lean Cuisine meal,) and that cat likes it too! She was interested in what I was eating, so I let her lick the bowl. ;)

She's a little gourmet, except she's a better dieter then I am, since she says no to fatty meats, she was completely uninterested when I was cooking the sausage for the soup, and she also doesn't eat pepperoni or bacon, but any other meat she eats.

She will eat the most random things. If I had made the soup with mushrooms, she would have eaten them for me! :lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:  Allie your story was so funny!! I was reading it out loud to DH and laughing really hard at the same time. Im glad that it was just your windshield and no one got hurt. Did the goose live? Man what a weekend you had. Hope your DS eye is OK and gets better soon. I loved the Dory part! Hope your neighbor finds their DS soon and hope he OK. Keep us posted!

I have no idea what happened to the goose. We tried to look for "remains" when we went out on Saturday, but didn't see anything. I figure he flew a little farther, and then became a "buzzard snack". ;) DS eye is fine. The doc had him wash his eyelids with baby shampoo to keep him from getting it again. He said he got that recommendation from an ophthalmologist friend. So far, so good.

Aww, we don't get there until Saturday, and Sat night we will be at CSR.

I will PM you as it gets closer and give you my cell, maybe we can meet up at some point Sun - Tues.

YAY ! :) we knew you would!

awesome! congrats!!!

i don't watch that show so i will just pretend i "get it" and laugh along with you! :rotfl:

haha thats fine! it really is a very funny show :)

ALLIE---WOW!!! I am so glad no one got hurt during that big Goosing...I'm sorry, i could not resist.:rolleyes1

We had a fuel cost of $26,911.51 for 2007. That is up from $17,867.41 in 2006. Same trucks, pretty much the same routes. Now that annoys me.

Holy moly! :scared1:

That is SOOO awesome! :yay: Although, I would love to weigh in at 154 lbs... but I am 5'8" so that is pretty close to goal for me. I weighed in on Feb 5th at 192.2, and last Friday was 173.2. I am hoping to get into the 160s before my May 17-23 WDW trip.

Wow! You've done great on the weightloss! Now toss that 14 and go treat yourself to a 12!

i really liked the show and the realness of it. it did bother me though that the mom FREAKED out over a little dribble of ice cream. i mean, it was ridiculous. kids are gonna spill stuff. and especially if you have 8 of them....i'd think she'd be used to spills by now! :confused3

I can't believe she's my age. I think I saw she is anyway. I thought she was older, but if I had 8 kids, I'd be dead. Don't get me wrong, I think she looks great, I just assumed she was older than she is.

My DD loves Italian food so I made the resevation for her....then I tell her this morning on the way to school and she's like "But I wanted Chinese food!" She asked where else we would be eating, and I said Narcoossees.
She said," Ok, I mean what kind of food do they have there?"

"Steak and Lobster"

"I HATE steak! I don't even want to eat it when were at home!"

"Fine, trade with your brother, you can eat the hot dog from the kids menu."

My son was in the backseat, and he let out a genuine, heartfelt, shriek of "Oh my Gosh!" Like he was about to die from the thought of getting to order the grown up meal of steak and lobster. Honestly, you just had to be there. My daughter and I could only laugh at him, she said he sounded just like a girl. He is such an easygoing kid.

My daughter? Well, Ms. Picky said she would rather have the hot dog anyway.:snooty:

I'll take her place!

Hey all,

Fly-by, I'll quote later! :rotfl:
Pakey

How's the cross trainer?

That's a mighty expensive way to get a turkey dinner...

Any updates on the neighbor's son?

The Police found my neighbor's son hiding in a girl's van today! ::cop: My neighbor (that I walk the dogs with in the mornings) and I went over to ask if there was anything that we could do, and to let them know we were there for them, if we were needed. They told us that he was spotted on the bank camera getting money out of his account, and he was with a girl. They seemed to think that they could track him down that way. Well, it worked. Saw another neighbor this afternoon that told me that he is found. WHEW! Thanks for all the prayers and PD. :grouphug: Course we probably need to pray for him now, 'cause I think his parents want to kill him now. :rolleyes1 You know how worried you get when your kid wanders off in WalMart, and your really worried, then relieved when you find them, then you want to pinch their little head off for wandering off. ;)

allie - what an adventure you had!!!

I get within a half mile of my destination, and a GOOSE flew into my windshield, and shattered it like a spider web!

i read this as "shattered like a spider web" and i thought you meant the goose shattered! :scared: then i reread it and realized you were referring to your windshield. :rotfl2: although i'm sure that goose probably had something that was shattered, like his head!

good news....glad to hear it. although this is exactly why i'm reluctant to have kids. they turn into teenagers and do stuff like this and then i'd end up in jail from beating the crap outta them!

LONG week around here. DS has reflux and we have been trying to get it under control for a few weeks now without much luck. No fun for any of us. We also had a heck of a storm come through here last night that set off the storm/tornado sirens at 4 am, so we had to get everyone rounded up in the bathroom to wait it out. I am so tired and DH is still at work...so I have had my hands full all day with cranky kids...and I have been snacking. Hoping I didnt do too much damage:headache:
