okay......two fabulous finds for you guys. i was in the salad section at kroger just now grocery shopping (what else would i be doing at kroger???) and they had these pre-portioned salads that were half off because they expire on 4/10. so i bought one to have for lunch tomorrow. it's spring mix greens, granny smith apples, dried apricots, toasted pecans, and white cheddar cheese with a white balsamic vinegarette. looks yummy and i'm sure the calorie count isn't too horrible.

also, we went to zaxby's for dinner and i had their new zensation salad. it's grilled (or fried) chicken in romaine lettuce with carrots, wonton strips, this sesame-teriyaki tasting glaze and a scoop of asian slaw on top served with a citrusy vinegarette. VERY VERY good! i couldn't find the calorie count online because it's such a new salad, i think. the only bad part is it comes with a fried eggroll, but if you have someone with you who likes eggrolls you could always pawn it off on them!

Doing little things for yourself once in a while is fabulous! :lovestruc I refuse to feel guilty!

amen, sista! princess:

Still trying to pick a place for one more ADR in July.

What do you guys think about the Dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the GF?

My trip will be an all girls trip. DH has decided he cant do Disney 2 years in a row so it is going to be me, dd (16), DD girlfriend (16) and dd (12). I've never done a solo vacation before either- who's going to hold my stuff???? DH was the designated bag carrier/holder since he is a none rider.

I'm also considering, Kona or Ohana. Decided against the Big River Grille- We are not very adventrous in our tastes - my girls wont eat seafood at all- and I tend not to try things I cant pronounce.

we're trying 1900 park fare for dinner in september. it will be just me and my friend erica. we chose it because we wanted to do a character dinner, it has a decent menu and we figured we could get some cute pictures with prince charming. since it's all girls for you, i bet you guys could get some cute poses with him! i also love kona though - i got the filet there last time and i could pull it apart with my fork.....yum! just depends on which atmosphere and food type you'd prefer because they're both very different. i'm anti-ohana. i thought the meat was gross there, very dry. and the atmosphere was CHAOTIC! you couldn't have a decent conversation with anyone. just my opinion though. i know lots of people love it.

Okay so most of you know that I am doing my thesis on Disney. Well I defend it on Thursday. I just found out over the weekend that I have to bring food for the committee and public attending. Sooo, I set out for a mickey cookie cutter to make tea sandwhiches. 8 stores later and still no luck. So I made an edible bouquet. I gave it a test run tonight after I got all the fruit ready. It lloks so kewl!! I can't wait to see their faces when they come in for the presentation!

I figure if I have to do it, I am gonna do it big and memorable. Plus, Walt Disney wouldn't have wanted it any other way, as he used to say, "It's kinda fun to do the impossible."

Oh and I made candy glass slippers out of white chocolate, chocolate mickey shapes, I got the committee members Cars Pez, a Ratatouille gummy food cookbook, and Princess mints.

Totally Excited!!!!

OH MY HECK!!!! That is spectacular!!!! And it looks tasty too! :yay:

But, keep your mitts off the chocolates! (LOL!)

Love the bouquet!!

I just finished doing my taxes, and GREAT news... over $1800 in combined refunds!! :yay: I thought we were going to owe this year, but the tuition deduction came through (for the last time, sigh).

I decided that I needed to recommit to my diet. I went shopping yesterday and then made several days worth of meals. I put together a couple of pasta salads and a layered lettuce salad. I've got the tools I need and a renewed attitude. I am going to succede!
I am with you on the recommitting. I've brought my calories down to 1550 from 1700, which is good, because those were not high-quality calories to begin with. and I hit the gym tonight even though I was feeling crap-tastic.Sweating it out was so hard, but I do feel better now that I've had dinner and a hot shower.

Oh, I also feel a teensy bit motivated by the sight of my neighbor....her of the red bikini that she is already wearing in the FRONT yard, even though it just this week started to hit 80 degrees. Well, I guess it is a step up from the THONG bathing suit that she used to wear when we first moved here a few years ago. (repeat, in the FRONT yard) I guess after kiddie #2 she figures she'll cover up now. Lovely, lovely, neighbors.
My new scale weighs 4 lbs. heavier than my old scale. I just went ahead and accepted it after a while. It is closer to the gym scale which I think is pretty accurate. LOL on the bikini babe neighbor. When we went to Hawaii, DH and I saw 2 ladies in thongs. One had a perfect behind, small and round and firm. The other was skinny, with her toddler running around her, and her behind looked like a balloon w/three quarters of the air let out. Yikes.

Warning to all of you parents of small children!! Do not use the playtex orthodontic pacifiers! The entire nipple pulled off of the button last night while my son had it in his mouth. If I had not seen it happen or if he had been in bed for the night he would have choked to death. I called playtex and they are sending me a bag to put the pacifier in and send it back to them. I did some research and they have had 3 different orthodontic pacifiers recalled due to the same problem in 2000/2001. They had 21 reports of this same thing happening. Obviously, they still have not gotten it right. I shudder to think what could have happened. I was shaking so hard when I called that I could barely speak to customer service rep.
Yikes. I'm going to forward this to my nieces, who have small children and one of whom works in childcare.

has anyone heard from Monica or Sandy or Melinda? I worry about missing peeps!
I was going to send a search party over to Nebo's TR to pick up Melinda. Glad she's stopping by. Melinda, don't be afraid to hang here. We don't judge. We all have our ups and downs. We miss you.

Very cute! Do you have some leftover Easter grass to cover the foam? Good luck on presenting your thesis!

I know I'm new here and I feel silly butting in, but I'm going to do it anyway. :rotfl: I was looking on eBay the other day and they have Mickey cookie cutters. What you did with the fruit looks fantastic, though!! Just thought I'd let you know in case you still needed one. I think I saw one for $0.99.

I just got a new scale at home this week as well. I am worried it will say I weigh more this week too. The new one I just got is digital so I guess I will have more precise weigh in next time

I am going to see if I can find tissue paper like they use for real flowers. :) Then I should be good to go.

I am glad everyone likes it. It gives me more confidence to go in there and do what I have to do. :thumbsup2

The fruit bouquet is great and looks soooo delicious!!! :thumbsup2 I just  chocolate covered strawberries and would definitely eat those first! LOL

I have started making ADR's and so far have Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier, Kona and Boma. There's a part of me that wants to make as many as possible, but then again, I don't want to have every night booked either. Anybody have any other suggestions???

I am about to hit the treadmill, then get my rear in gear. I need to plan my food for the day and make a list of the things I need to accomplish today. Yesterday I did alot of computer work, job searching, applying, but not much of anything else. I do need to get the oil changed in my car today as we are driving to NJ on Friday.

Hope you all have a great day!!! :goodvibes

i'm totally jealous. we OWE $1800. :sad2: i had to borrow $1000 from my grandparents to pay it. we're trying to refinance and i was gonna get that $1000 from the house payment i could skip during the refinance, but it's taking longer than we thought because everyone and their mother apparently is refinancing right now. so we're skipping may instead of april. i can pay them back then. anyway, just very frustrating having to give the government MORE money!

butt in any time! that's how we get to know you. ;)

so i have a deposition today in athens and then afterwards i'm heading to target to get disney supplies!!!!! :woohoo: it's so funny how buying regular stuff like a 3-pack of gum is so much more exciting when you're taking it to disney world.

I as rewarded my hard work with getting my nails done!!!! :cool1: I also self-tanned this morning so now I feel soooo cute!
I was reading the best 50 diet tips in Woman's Day or one of those magazines, and one of them was to reward yourself with a non-food treat. So you deserved it after skipping your diet soda.

Also, I bought the ingrediants for the pumpkin soup last night, so I will be making it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I don't like the service at 1900 Park Fare, and that has kept me from ever going back.

I like Kona and Ohana a lot better. Ohana is a lot to eat, and not very diet-friendly, but I think the food is yummy. I haven't been there since the menu change though.

Kona is just a great meal in general.

I have started making ADR's and so far have Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier, Kona and Boma. There's a part of me that wants to make as many as possible, but then again, I don't want to have every night booked either. Anybody have any other suggestions???
I'd make whatever you want, and then just cancel them if you choose not to use them. If I recall correctly, you're going when I am, and that's during free dining, so those ADRs will be hard to get if you wait.

So yesterday was my second day of the 1,500 calories-a-day diet. I did all right, I had a light and fit yogurt smoothie for breakfast, and then a Lean Cuisine for lunch, but it seemed to go downhill from there.

I got called into work early, and by the time I had a chance to eat something, I had noticed baby back ribs on the self-serve hot buffet. Those are my downfall, since anything else on the buffet I can usually pass up, but I had to get a piece of the ribs, and some carrots. It dawned on me while I was eating that the food reminded me of the food at Chef Mickey's. Maybe that's why I "need" it some days?

I also had some coleslaw, (not creamy, it was a vinegary kind,) and some pasta salad, with cheese, tomatoes, and olives. (See, I get bad at work.)

Then on my last break, (which was four hours after I had that piece of ribs, and the carrots,) I had a Lean Cuisine meal.

So total, I know I had 610 calories between breakfast and the Lean Cuisine meals, so as long as the ribs and salads were under 1,000 I didn't really go over on my calories.

Oh, I also had a soda yesterday. I was going to get water, but forgot to grab a bottle, and then when I got up to the lounge, I wasn't going to do all the way back down, and get in line again, so I just got a can of diet coke out of the employees lounge.

Let's see if I can do better today. I'm at work now, but I pre-portioned some cereal, and some dried cranberries, as well as an 100-calorie snack bag of Chips Ahoy crisps, so that should hold me over for awhile. And I'm drinking water.

I would go ahead and make them for all your days, and then while you're there, if you decide you don't want to eat out that night, just call and cancel you ADR. It's usually way easier to do it this way then to not make a ressie, want one, but can't get one because everything is filled!

I forgot to tell you all, I finished mine, and am getting $1,000 back, so I will be going to Disney in September. :cool1:

And with that $600 rebate or whatever it is that everyone's getting, I can almost finish paying off my student loans.

Can I say something without offending anyone? Last night at work, me and one of the other ladies at work had a conversation at food stamps. We were getting annoyed at what some of the people were buying with them.

One lady had a $300 order of junk food, including $30 of chicken wings, (which is weird that she was able to get them at all, since prepared foods are supposed to be not allowed.) I understand a few treats, but I can't stand seeing people come in a buying hundreds of dollars worth of junk, and them getting it for "free" from the government, and our tax dollars having to pay for it.

Next example, (this didn't happen last night, but it was recent,) two ladies were in buying lobster tails, and paid for them with food stamps. That was the whole order, just lobster tails. I'd like lobster too, but I can't afford it.

I also really don't get when peopler come in and use the same card like a debit card, (then it's not food stamps, it is like a debit card, and they can buy anything with it,) and buy cigarettes with it.

Then I feel bad when it seems like people who actually need the support, and buy healthy stuff, but don't have a lot on their card.

I think the government should more closely moderate who they are giving the food stamps too, and how much they are giving. If they are using it for cigarettes and lobster, then I don't think they really need to be using them.

Also, it seems a lot more common for people to be on food stamps now then it was ten years ago. I used to get a few food stamp orders a week, if that, now I get several a day.

my first job in high school was as a cashier at food lion and i used to get annoyed at this too, even at 16. what astounded me was that people would buy the food with food stamps, then buy a bunch of CRAP with cash like beer and magazines and movies, etc. looks like they'd use the cash to buy the necessities and then get off food stamps?????? just my thought.

I know I'm not supposed to drink coffee but I just discovered the Sugar Free Iced Coffee at McDonalds! (it was that or the diet coke while shopping at Walmart!) It's really goooood. Now I feel naughty! (Mormons don't drink coffee, remember?). I as rewarded my hard work with getting my nails done!!!! :cool1: I also self-tanned this morning so now I feel soooo cute!

Doing little things for yourself once in a while is fabulous! :lovestruc I refuse to feel guilty!
Good for you! :thumbsup2 I got my tips n toes done yesterday as well..i DESPERATELY need to self tan..out of curiousity, what kind do you use? I have teh Neutragena kind and it doesn't seem to have that NASTY smell like some others i have tried.

I'm also considering, Kona or Ohana. Decided against the Big River Grille- We are not very adventrous in our tastes - my girls wont eat seafood at all- and I tend not to try things I cant pronounce.
I personally vote for Kona ...good menu for lots of different tastes IMHO.

That is so cool! I totally hear ya, i love buying little things for vacations! :)

Me too! I worked at a Shaws Supermarket for 3 years while going to college and i would get so annoyed by the people using the stamps for seemingly unneccesary thing. I am all for helping out those that need it, but i really feel like some people took advantage. :sad2:

On to other things..i did have a decently peepish day yesterday..drank a ton of H2O..no coffee yesterday! :scared1: ..i am trying to see if i can do today without any too..I did grab dinner out at the local irish pub BUT i did get baked scallops with squash..however i did have a few fries..ah well..i stil think i was right on target with my cals though! Today is Curves so that will make me feel good :)

Have a good one everyone..did anyone watch Idol last night, talk about lackluster ..yikes!

I think the people on food stamps should be doing everything they can to save money when possible, like buying items on sale, and combining it with coupons, which is a great way to get stuff for really cheap, and even free sometimes.

I use coupons a lot, and am able to get a lot of hygeine products for free, like toothpaste, dedorant, and band-aids. I usually get several everytime they're on sale, and go through them all around the next time they are on sale. Well, the band-aids take forever for me to use up, so I have a surplus of them at home.

I only spend about $20 - $30 a week at the store, except I did spend a lot at the store last night, on the ingrediants for the two recipes I want to make, the things for the pumpkin soup, and for blue cheese and fig tartlets I got a recipe for. And tonight I'm doing my "regular" grocery shopping, though the only thing on my list right now is Lean Cuisine.
