Remember when I mentioned that my mom had to go for a second mammogram to compare the results with the first? Well she made the appointment for this Friday morning if you all could just send some pixie dust and prayers her way. I know it is routine but I'm sure she's a little nervous and I know I am as well. I keep asking her if she wants me to go with her and she says no. But I'll ask again tomorrow.

Thanks Peeps! :flower3:

Aaron~

I love the A-Z thing. Maybe I'll do one of those about me over the weekend. (If I remember)

Shannonadding prayers and pixiedust: and a

OMG!!!! I play the trombone! Ok, I haven't played in a few years, but I did play from 6th grade all the way through college (11 years). Proud Alumni of the Notre Dame Band of the Fighting Irish!

So cool! :thumbsup2

Well that is cool!! :thumbsup2 Fighting Irish alum, and you found time to march too!! :cool1:

:rotfl2: LOL I quoted you Dene to remind me to tell Aaron I liked his list!! Only I couldnt figure it out and had to go back and check why I wanted to quote you!!

Aaron Great list - the class Ice Breaker yesterday was on a 3x5 card we put our name in the center, under it "why we became teachers" upper right Favorite TV or Movie... Upper Left - "what animal are you like" (then she called on us to ask us why!! :rotfl2: Quick thinking by me - I answered Dolphin because its dd fav!! :rotfl2: Instead I said I liked their family pod units, and their freedom and strength in the ocean - as well as how well they communicate!! :rotfl2: Bottom left - Hobby Bottom Right - "something unusual about yourself" I wish I wrote "running a Half Marathon" instead I wrote something stupid!! :rotfl2:

Perch Broiled and Buttered please!
Racing and Golf:confused3 I dont get racing either, golf if I play no problems, but to watch 3 hours of either of these sports... :confused3

Day 2 of the class... wish me luck...

Oh, I got an email from Future Dil - we're running the race at 6:30AM Sunday, so she invited me to sleep over her apartment (about ten minutes to race - from here about 45 min!) so I agreed, my DS said "I dont know whether to be happy or creeped out" :rotfl2:

on BB lots of stuff, nobody(not even me!) knows - but its a LIVE Eviction tonight!!

Sending some prayers and dust your way.

Shannon, sending pixie dust and good thoughts. And, I totally understand on the control freak thing!

Dawn, what a cutie! My kitty needs to lose weight too, she was doing well for a while but we have been bad about feeding her too much lately. Mr Kat has issues with spoiling her and feeding her too much cat food (and some table scraps). Yet another reason why kids aren't a good idea for us!

Man, what a freakin' day. I spent my whole day fire-fighting. I won't bore you with too much detail, but normally I spend my day quietly with my computer and chunk through my work... today I was on a call from 2PM-6:30PM and there was MUCH ugliness. None was directed at me, thank goodness, but I hate when people are mean to each other!

I am currently sipping a nice 140 calorie glass of dry white wine. I think I deserve it!
I think you deserve a nice glass of wine. I can't wait until I can have some again.

So here it goes, the A-Z of Me. (Feel free to copy this idea sometime if you ever get bored and need to waste a good 1/2 hour of your time.)

T - Trombone. The instrument I played in high school. I found my old one about 6 months ago, and I proved to my wife that I can still play a few songs from memory.

This was neat. I played the trombine throughout school as well. My first one is in my parents attic.

OT---I have a dell laptop and yesterday is started acting up, but only when it was logged in under me. My son is so into VMK and it would always freeze up our other computer when he would try to exit out. So yesterday he was playing on the laptop and I figured he had done it again. Well DH looked at it and under his log in name everything works fine, but under mine the mouse touch pad does not want to work. I can move the cursor around, but have to use the bottom left hand button to select anything. It is just very annoying. I guess I will call Dell later today and see if they will tell me anything.

I hope that everyone has a Blessed day and good luck to staying in points, calories, getting in water, crunches, and all other workouts.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Woke up late today. I didn't sleep well last night....kids milling around late and woke me up and then there I lay until 3:30. :sad2:

Aaron
....I loved the list! Queen & Zepplin are great and I hate rap music too but my DD loves it! And your pictures too! So nice to have a visual. I've gotta get over and Simpsonize myself. :)

Shannon.... Good test results prayers on the way! I know plenty of people who've had to repeat their mammograms and they were all just fine.

Punkin.
...Cute fat doggie tummy! Our dog used to be plump when she was younger but is now old and just a bag of bones. :sad1:

Kat
....I forgot to comment yesterday...I figured you showered! But your secret is you get more than an hour for lunch. That's awesome that your boss is so flexible.

Dene....Cool that Mr. Date #2 thinks you're hot! But...you're right....better alone than with Mr. Wrong. When is your reunion again?

Moo.....Yuck! on the speeding ticket. 25mph is hard. I got a ticket for rolling through the stop sign at the end of our street. It's a Y intersection and used to be a yield sign when we moved in. I think I should be grandfathered in for the yield. That ticket was like $135 I think.

Lynda....Good luck on the wedding photos. Glad you got a new scale! :thumbsup2

Everyone else.... :wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
:flower3:

Sounds like a setting got changed. I'm not at my laptop so I'm doing this from memory.... Try going to START >> Select Control Panel >> Double click on Mouse. There should be a setting to turn the touch pad on and off. Hope that helps!!

Too funny! My best friend (and his now wife) also went to ND. I got to catch a few football games at Notre Dame stadium, including them losing to Northwestern during my first ever game at ND stadium. Very cool atmosphere. And I can also watch the movie Rudy and say "I saw that" during several scenes.

This was neat. I played the trombine throughout school as well. My first one is in my parents attic.
I actually have my great-grandfather's trombone in my basement. He played with the Ringling Brothers Circus, so of course my grandma was very proud of me when I decided to take it up.

Punkin - I forgot to quote you, but my little Cocker Spaniel had the same problem. But when my wife and I were living with our parents for those couple months, the pooch got a lot of long walks with my father-in-law since he is now retired. They would go for 2-3 5-mile walks a day. She slimmed up pretty quickly during that time. And it is good motivation for me to walk so I can keep that up with her.

I’m relatively new here --- so excuse me if you already said this in a previous posts but do you work out? How much do you were work out and what do you do when you work out? I found if you mix it up the weight comes off too!

Jodi

I do work out..not nearly as much as i should though..you hit that one dead on. ;) BUT the last 2 weeks i have done at least 3 days of 30 + cardio..mostly treadmill/WATP dvds..so its a good start. i do my crunches/toning stuff every other day. I am going to make an effort to work out at least 4-5 days a week and vary it. I also decided that 40 bucks a month i am not paying WW anymore ( to do ito on my own) i might pay to curves and that way i will belong to a "regular" gym and the local curves..which i really liked doing a few years ago :)

okay, peeps. can my doggie eli be an official peep too? he's overweight and i need to be a better mommy and get him back to a healthy weight. check out that belly......

so who watched "dance" tonight? right now i think my favorites are lauren and sabra. i love them both! i didn't think too much of lauren at first but she's really grown on me over the past few weeks.

That dog is a riot!! SO flippen cute!
I totally agree with your view of Lauren. I thought she was adorable with her solo and she has a very cool vibe. Man that Danny can dance, but i can't help but be bugged by his snottiness...although its gotten better lately.

I had to replace a scale that was going wonky on me a while back. I got the WW scale that measures some other things besides just lbs. I actually haven't read the manual enough yet to know how to use that feature. I like it. I liked display of my other scale better, but once it started giving me false information, I didn't want to go with the same model again. And it had some features I wasn't crazy about anyway. I do wish mine was completely flat. (The one I have is slightly sloped, being slightly higher in the middle.) I feel like I might get different results if I am off balance or something. But all in all, I am happy with my current scale. I think it was about $60 (???) at Linens n Things.

Thanks for the info!! I think i might have to venture to Bed Bath and Beyond tonight and see if they have that scale too..i have a nice coupon for that store :)

Good Morning Peeps! :goodvibes

VBS has been going well, and that is all the excercise I will need for the week! I am hopping, jumping, doing knee bends, lifting my arms...as much cardio as I could possibly need! :scared: I'm exhausted by the end of the night, but it is a good exhaustion! :thumbsup2 Weight Loss is going well, thanks to South Beach and VBS! Can't wait until WI tomorrow!!!

Aaron...Loved your A-Z! I love Queen as well! Great band!!! :cool1:

Melinda...I PM'd you with a question. Thanks for your anticipated response! :hippie:

Lynda...Good Luck & Have Fun with this wedding on Saturday! :bride: I know the pics will be beautiful!

Punkin...My black Lab looks like your dog! Same belly!!! I really need to start walking with her! We both can use the excercise! :yay:

Dene...You will easily hit onderland by Oct! You're old classmates will be jealous of how great you look!!!!

Hope all you Peeps area having a great day!!!:sunny:

Dawn- I have one of our dogs, a beagle/lab mix, on Nutro Large Breed Weight Management (yellow bag). I give her about 3/4 cup, twice a day. She's about 55 pds but was close to 70 when I met DH. I love Nutro!!!! :thumbsup2

Eventer, I would LOVE to see a pic of your dog!! Labs and Beagles are my two absolute favorites, I can only imagine how adorable a mix would be!!

Would you mind posting it?!

Labs are not my favorite!! :lmao: My other two dogs are shepard mixes which I prefer!! She is DH's dog and we have the evil stepmother/stepdaughter relationship. ;) As soon as she met me I took her McDonalds french fries away that DH would give her and put her on a diet!

I just double checked and I don't have ANY pics of my dogs!! Horrible isn't it!! I'm sorry!!

Labs are not my favorite!! :lmao: QUOTE]

I LOVE MY LAB!!! Chief is a black lab, on the runt side. We think he is part hunting mix or something because he is a shorty...but he is the sweetest boy!! i was never a dog person before him, just had my black cat molly ( which i still have and love to bits)..but he is really a great companion. BUT he has been known to eat very expensive chocolate ( OF ALL THINGS! :sad2: ) if you leave him in a room with it....sigh... dogs.

sorry all this dog talk made me miss the mutt! :rotfl:

A few weeks with the Peeps, and eli should be looking like this:
email5.jpg
. that picture was just waiting in my mail today, and I had to share it.

i hope so!!! i'm so excited that underdog is a beagle!

OMG Punkin' -- He is too cute!! I love the pudgy belly. :thumbsup2 My puppykins was a bit of a couch potato (just lkie her mommy ) before I got started on the road to a healthy me. I had noticed some pudge a few months ago and started to get a bit worried -- schnauzers are known to gain weight easily in middle age, but she is only 3!! So, now she goes on walks every evening and is slimming down nicely! She's always been "free fed," meaning I just leave dry food out for her all day. She actually goes through less than is recommended for her weight, so I knew that wasn't the problem. However, I realized one Saturday that she was getting (and insisting on) 3-5 treats a day plus little nibbles of stuff here and there :sad2:. That's a lot of extra food for a 15 lb dog!!! She's cut back to one treat when I leave in the morning plus some extra protein every once in a while (a bit of chicken or cheese) and a small spoonful of yogurt or cottage cheese on her food every other day (she LOVES her plain yogurt).

So where was I going with this??? :rolleyes1 Oh yeah (I digress, quite a bit actually) -- I don't know if you give him treats and other goodies, but I would change his eating habits in addition to the exercise... It's crazy how many extra cookies and stuff they get in a day (I never even realized that I was doing it). Also, it's certainly harder to keep track with more than one person giving the treats. To help them keep track, my mom and dad put two treats on the counter in the morning and break off pieces during the day for their dog, but when they are gone, they are gone -- no more for the rest of the day. This way both of them know how much she's already had (the darn dog was begging 3 and 4 treats from both of them, plus going down to my grandmother and getting a few!!).

BTW I would have him tested for diabetes in addition to the thyroid thing.

Good luck on the "doggy diet." It's rough when they want to eat and you have to cut them back.

Oh yeah -- just remembered -- a friend had a pleasantly plump pooch and her vet recommended cutting back on his regular food and then supplementing his diet with plain cooked veggies and pieces of fruit (some things are toxic to dogs -- like grapes) as well as lean proteins and rice. The vets reasoning was that the diet foods are full of fillers and generally processed junk. So rather than adding that kind of bulk, you should add bulk in the form of whole foods. Don't know what I think about cooking a better meal for my dog than myself, but I thought I'd pass on the info...

thanks for the advice. both my dogs eat once a day (about 1.5 cups of food) around 6:00 p.m. i used to be able to leave the food out for sherman, but since we've gotten eli i can't anymore because eli will eat anything that sherman leaves in his bowl. sherman has picked up on this, too, and eats it all in one sitting! the only time they get treats is when they get in their crates...it's how i trained them to do it. they both know when i'm getting ready to leave - i guess they just sense it - and eli will run to his crate and get in it so he gets a treat. he's such a pig! sherman sometimes has to be made to go in his. we're bad about giving them leftovers.....we need to cut it out but i feel so bad throwing away food when i know they'd enjoy it! and i didn't know grapes were toxic to dogs....i give my dogs grapes all the time! oops.

And it is good motivation for me to walk so I can keep that up with her.

i'm hoping the walks will help. right now we're starting with just a short walk and then we're going to add on as he gets more accustomed to it.

Dawn- I have one of our dogs, a beagle/lab mix, on Nutro Large Breed Weight Management (yellow bag). I give her about 3/4 cup, twice a day. She's about 55 pds but was close to 70 when I met DH. I love Nutro!!!! :thumbsup2

i've tried switching their dog food to another brand of diet food, but they always get diarrhea and i don't want to worry about that! i know if i'm patient it'll pass because it's just that their stomachs are getting used to it. anyway, i'm hoping these walks will work. if not, i'm gonna ask my vet for a recommendation on food.

your doggies are precious! i love them....i'd have 20 of them if i had the room!

look how little he was when we brought him home! this is him and sherman playing. sherman is our older beagle (the non-fat one!) and also eli's uncle.

and this is my favorite picture of eli ever! it looks like he's saying, "what? i didn't do anything!!!!" as the red string hangs from his mouth!

Dawn-I'm sure you do when you try new food but do you gradually mix it over? I usually start with 1:4 ratio and eventually have them switched in 5 days or so.

yeah, we've tried that. they just have sensitive stomachs i guess. i have noticed that they do okay with beneful weight loss food. although the weight loss part doesn't work for eli!
