DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 4

I want a guy that is hot (to me), lives a healthy lifestyle with exercise and diet (or at least tries), is educated/smart/witty/funny, is positive and doesn't need me to "complete" him, is active and young at heart, and his idea of "travel" is going somewhere that requires either an airplane or a couple of days in a car (and a passport is even better). Sometimes, I worry that I'm being too picky. But hey, I've survived the last 15 years alone so I know I am a person who can be okay by myself. I really think I'd rather be alone than with the wrong guy. I don't want to feel like I settled for less than what I really want in a man... wouldn't be fair to me OR the guy.

Good for YOU!!! Never settle for anything less than something that adds to your life..and that definitely includes men as well :) great attitude Dene!

Def. not taking that as criticism!!! I completely agree with you. i am cancelling today..i don't want to spend the $40 bucks a month on something i know i cna do alone...i appreciate your comments :)
Probably a good decision, especially if you don't feel like it is working for you. I pretty much did the same thing. I didn't attend the classes, but rather did the WW Online thing. I cancelled a few months ago because I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth. I still follow the plan religiously, but I just don't use their website. I created an Excel spreadsheet that I use to keep track of my weight. It has starting weight, current weight, total lost, goal weight, pounds to goal, and even a chart that shows my progress. (I guess a little bit of IT geek came out during that.) And my wife's mom has older books that give points ranges based on your weight, so we use that as a guide to know when to lower my daily points allowances. (And of course, I have the Peeps for accountability and support.) So long story short -- I still do WW, I just don't pay anybody for it.

Good for you! I know you can do it! :thumbsup2

You might consider checking out classes through your county parks & recreation department -- ours offers tons of different exercise classes and they are really inexpensive. Then you could try different things, and not have to commit to a monthly gym membership. Just a thought!

Whatever you do, everybody, let's make a commitment to take good care of ourselves today. Everybody drinking their water?

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

(and happy birthday Misty!!)

hey there all!

I do belong to a gym that i really like, so i will just try and go more and get those results i want!!

Hey everyone!! Thanks for making me feel so welcome here!! I am gonna fit right in because I love to chat too!!:goodvibes

I have been walking at least a mile everyday this week with dd6's dog, & the dog is worn out laying on the floor & I feel like I could walk another mile!!:rotfl2: Except for all of the stupid hills in this neighborhood!! Why can't they just make level, flat streets!!

Please hold me specifically accountable every day. Ask me if I rode the bike or walked on the treadmill! Anybody - everybody - somebody!? Please! And water!
I need to drink my water -

AnnNan- have you had your water & rode your bike today!!??:rolleyes1 Just wondering???:goodvibes

I am so excited about this group!!

I'm drinking my water! ;)

I rode my bike for 50 minutes last night. I'll be going for 55 tonight. (While doing more photography reading.) I actually did an estimate of my calories on "cheat day", and it wasn't bad. (Only about 500-600 over my max allowable - nothing I can't make up for this week.) Of course, I was trying to keep it under control. With the rehearsal and wedding coming up, I knew I'd have a couple of not so great days. I have also sneaked a couple of peeks at the scale early, and I think I am finally going to have a number I am happy to report, but I'm not counting on it until I see it on Friday! :)

How is everyone else doing?

Is this an orientation thing or are they really back at school for the school year now?:confused3 My kids don't go back until September 5, of course they didn't get out until June 20.

Hey Kat --

Thanks for the reply (although I think that some quotes got smushed together -- some of the info was from me, some from MA_pigletfan -- not that it matters really).

I appreciate the feedback and have been following your journey for a while -- you're doing great!! I've actually lost about 36 (may really be 37 or 38 now) lbs since April, so I'm doing very well. BUT I see a big slow down on the way and am looking for some ways to keep on track and see progress. I've been trying to convince myself that water is a "good thing," so perhaps thinking of it as "metabolism medicine" will work for me! I have recently upped the exercise quotient and will keep doing so -- it's good for me AND the dog!

Thanks again! :goodvibes

Oops, I got my multi-quote thingy confused I think!! Also I was getting bombarded with work crap as I was trying to type out that post. Sorry for the mixup!!

36 is GREAT! I am right at the same stage, and I expect the same slowdown... we can do this!

Def. not taking that as criticism!!! I completely agree with you. i am cancelling today..i don't want to spend the $40 bucks a month on something i know i cna do alone...i appreciate your comments :)

Thanks! Sorry I mixed your quote in with MJMouse!!

That's what I'd of said if Kat hadn't already said it so well... :thumbsup2

I got lucky in the personal training area... our Y had a certain number of sessions that came with the membership. Seeing my dedication, my trainer spent extra time with me on his own, and now he's one of my best friends.

I have been thinking of signing up for a session w/ a trainer...we get one freebie.

and (thankfully) there's no "story" that goes with this one. He was a very nice man. Unfortunately, I just wasn't feeling the sparks and our interests are just waaaay too different... so the search continues. (Of course, it boosted my ego to know that the sparks were at least flying for him towards me.)

Don't compromise... the lady I lived with in Spain always said, "Mejor sola que mal acompanada" (better off alone that in bad company), and I totally agree. I was lucky enough to find someone that works for me, but I know I would have been okay alone too... don't worry, if it is meant to be, yours will come along. And in the meantime, have fun exploring the possibilities!

50 mins..way to go! is this a recumbant bike?? I should do that at the gym and add some variety to my usual boring treadmilling!
ALSO..wasn't it you that bought a great scale not too long ago?? I am in the market for a good, accurate scale ( under 50 buckeroonies though)..do you have any suggestions?? thanks Lynda! :goodvibes

Caught up with all of you! YAY!!! I was here yesterday, but boy were you chatty last night and this morning!!!

I want in!! Can I? Can I? Can I?:cool1: Pretty Please? I just posted an intro thread! I have lost 4-5 lbs in almost 2 weeks using spark people. I need all the support i can get! I have 45 lbs more to go!! (I blame it on baby weight, but my baby is 6 YO!!:rotfl2: ) Too late to use her as an excuse?:goodvibes

:welcome: I know you'll like it here, get lots of tips and have lots of laughs!!! I,too, use my "baby weight" as an excuse, but now that my son is 20, I guess I can't blame him anymore!!! :confused3

Oh man, I am waaay behind here! I don't remember much, except for the yummy looking cookies! (Surprise, surprise, out of everything the cookies stand out! :rotfl2: )

Welcome to the newbies! Glad to have you here!

All right, after about 40 tries, I finally got to Simpsonize myself. So not only do you all finally get to see what I look like, you also get to see what I would look like if I lived in Springfield, USA.

Here's the handsome devil who's been trying to interject a little bit of testosterone into the Peeps --

Aaronhat.jpg

(Seriously, I am 30. No joke. I know it looks like I'm about 22, but my creaky knees and receding hairline tell a different story!)

And here I am Simpsonized --

SimpsonizeFace.jpg

(I don't know, but I think that might be an improvment!)

Thanks for the pic Aaron!!! Nice to "see" ya! I tried to go on the Simpson sight, but it wouldn't let me...said it was too full and try again later! Oh well!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISTY!!!

Have a great day!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISTY!!!

Working VBS is helping drop some weight this week, as I am not eating dinner at all! I am drinking my water and getting LOTS of exercise from leading the singing, since there are many motions that go along with the songs, so all of that is helping me drop some weight! I'll have nice numbers on Fri at this rate!!

Good for you! I'm trying really hard not to let myself settle. I'm so glad you are being so outgoing!

I wish I could say I have had a 2nd date with that special someone but no such luck as of yet. I'm so frustrated. He takes his school work very seriously which is great but he shuts people out in the process. Not so nice. I just don't know how to talk to him and explain that I understand his is busy and stressed, but I do like him and want a 2nd date and I'm letting him decided when and if that will happen - without sounding like scary obsession girl. Okay I admit I'm a control freak and I feel out of control in this "relationship" but I just want us both to be on the same page.

Happy Birthday Misty!!!
party: :jumping1: :rockband: :bday: :cake: :jumping1: party:

Ditto from me! Happy Birthday!

Tomorrow is my last day of therapy clients...so sad (and yet I'm really excited for the semester to end). I have had my little boy for 2 semesters and I've grown really attached to him. It will be strange knowing that someone else will be treating him next semester. And Friday is the last day of camp...for all my BSing and moaning about being assigned there, I have actually learned a lot, had fun, and will really miss those kiddos.

As another one who "follows" WW but isn't going to meetings right now, here's what I found. The time my weight loss slowed w/ WW is when I was doing a lot of "fiddling around." I skipped measuring, or filled measuring utensils to overflowing. I low-balled my estimates on restaurant/party food. I skipped counting things that were free (store samples, kids' leftovers etc). One of my leaders called it the curse of the BLTs-bites, licks, and tastes. So, attending meetings or not, be honest with yourself. I once heard the great philosopher, Andy Rooney, say, "Ignorance of the facts doesn't change the facts." I try to remember that when I'm tempted not to write something down that I have eaten.

OK, enough preaching. It's time to say, Happy Birthday Misty!

DID YOU RIDE YOUR BIKE AND/OR WALK ON THE TREADMILL AND DRINK YOUR WATER TODAY????

Any tips to get a "sluggish" metabolism moving???

my friend that's built like a goddess swears by eating lots of very small meals throughout the day. that works if you can fit it into your schedule. also, of course, drink lots of water. i've heard that working out first thing in the morning kickstarts your metabolism too. and there's always the legit fat burners out there - they raise your core temp and speed up metabolism - but they can be bad for you, too.

if you decide to do it on your own and you go with the calorie counting thing, go by your local bookstore and get this: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9781930448131&itm=1

it's helped me so much with my calorie counting. i also bought a food diary to make it easier to keep track of everything.

How is everyone else doing?

i'm fine. we've missed you, though!!!! :flower3:

I had to replace a scale that was going wonky on me a while back. I got the WW scale that measures some other things besides just lbs. I actually haven't read the manual enough yet to know how to use that feature. I like it. I liked display of my other scale better, but once it started giving me false information, I didn't want to go with the same model again. And it had some features I wasn't crazy about anyway. I do wish mine was completely flat. (The one I have is slightly sloped, being slightly higher in the middle.) I feel like I might get different results if I am off balance or something. But all in all, I am happy with my current scale. I think it was about $60 (???) at Linens n Things.

Hey CHERYL Didya hear that?? We're all pulling for you PEEP!!!

WWPD Indeed!! :cool1: Keep in mind, what would Peeps do!!

I am being chased by a biting fly, bloodsucking biting fly - aaargg!!

BB update no spoiler Last night on Showtime they played the drinking game quarters! The producers are trying to come up with stuff for the hamsters (bb houseguests) to do just for showtime!! They never show it on regular tv - well that's not true, we got to see the pixilated streaker!! LOL - I absolutely LOVED  How Mike stood up to Dick - how great was that, for his honor - I think Dick would've appreciated it more if Mike was doing it for Dick - can you see Amber doing that for dick??

Oh! Someone asked me about my bike! It is a recumbent bike. I feel like I get more ab action on them with the way I have to balance. I used to use one at the gym back when I was going there all the time. I want to get an elliptical machine too though.

i'm fine. we've missed you, though!!!! :flower3:

And I've missed my Peeps too! I wish I could say I'll be around much more once the wedding's over, but it's hard to say. I'll be working on processing photos, so I WILL be on the computer more. Hopefully, that'll mean more DIS (and therefore Peep :goodvibes ) time too!
