I'm a Texan at heart!! I have family (cousins) in the DFW area, and I've been to the Grapefine MallPICK ME!!!
When can you get here?
Describe skills necessary to be an outstanding teacher... (quality, each child can succeed, passion for education and students.... Learning for all teach work collaboratively... implement power standards, with excitement, and a variety of techniques, raises level of achievement thru the use of a variety of techniques, to help students become LifeLong learners... effective teacher is always learning...
Sooooo, you need a little help with your edu-crap... whoops, I mean edu-speak.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "Education is not the filling of the pail, but the lighting of a fire." An outstanding educator possesses the skills and abilities required to light that fire. Foremost among these are compassion, empathy, and the ability to reach the hearts of students... for without their hearts, their minds cannot be reached. Professional educators have a passion for education and students; they themselves are lifelong learners who try to raise the standards of achievement while instilling the love of learning within their students. To be able to accomplish these goals, the educator should be skilled in classroom management and organization; furthermore, the educator should be flexible and capable of creative problem solving. Routine and structure are important in a classroom; however, the ability to take advantage of a teachable moment might provide the spark that becomes a fire within the learners.
How would you address a wide range of skills and abilities in your classroom?
Didn't catch what age group this is for, but... (btw, I've heard of U by D, but not Glasser or Bernstein so I didn't know where to put them)
Every child is unique; students have diverse learning styles, interests, family dynamics, and background knowledge. As a professional educator, I would incorporate a variety of research-based teaching strategies into my lesson plans such as the use of manipulatives, movement, visual aides, music, CLOZE notes, cooperative learning, and flexible grouping to actively engage students. Furthermore, I would using questioning techniques and various formal and informal evaluations to monitor student progress and make data-driven decisions when modifying and adjusting for the individual learner.
ATTENTION DOG LOVERS!
I just got this link on email. So cute!
TYPE IN a command and see what happens... sit, roll over, down, stand, sing, dance, shake, fetch, play dead etc. and...it's also very cute if you type in a command that's not recognized.. .!!
Make sure you type in "Kiss" too, but do it last.
Cute!
PICK ME!!!
Thank you for taking your time to help me!! UbD does take that approach - love Ben Franklin quote - better than the give a fish/teach to fish one! I'm going to substitute "essential questions" the UbD term for "hooking and holding kids' as in, when they want to take you off course (or as you so aptly say "teachable unplanned moments" ) we use that but get kids to forge things into the "Essential Questions" or BIG IDEAS!!
so today I asked if I could use her as a reference as I begin to apply
and
please - this is so hard for me!! I have some mild insecurities...
It is so sweet, in the mornings, dd lays on the floor & Maggie comes up & lays her head right on her chest! Of course then she proceeds to "clean" Katelyn's teeth with her tongue
, so maybe it's not that sweet after all!!
Dance & I also live in Texas! We both live near the DFW area... I need to try to "do lunch" with her sometime before school starts.
