Is this an orientation thing or are they really back at school for the school year now?:confused3 My kids don't go back until September 5, of course they didn't get out until June 20.
no this is the real thing my kids are on year round school they got out the end of may and start the new yr today .

OK, enough preaching. It's time to say, Happy Birthday Misty!

okay i am loving all my spongebob stuff and cute pictures you guys are ALL awesome you rock thanks for all the birthday love.(maybe i should multi-qoute everyone wishing me happy birthday then we would have a whole page dedicated to spongieman.:rotfl:  )

As another one who "follows" WW but isn't going to meetings right now, here's what I found. The time my weight loss slowed w/ WW is when I was doing a lot of "fiddling around." I skipped measuring, or filled measuring utensils to overflowing. I low-balled my estimates on restaurant/party food. I skipped counting things that were free (store samples, kids' leftovers etc). One of my leaders called it the curse of the BLTs-bites, licks, and tastes. So, attending meetings or not, be honest with yourself. I once heard the great philosopher, Andy Rooney, say, "Ignorance of the facts doesn't change the facts." I try to remember that when I'm tempted not to write something down that I have eaten.

I love this cake--it is so cute---

WONDERS--- I need to know how hard something would be to make. FOr Joshua's 2nd birthday I thought about doing a sheet cake with a disney theme of all the stuff that he likes----Mickey Mouse, Jesse (Toy Story) Mikey (Monsters) LIghtening (Cars), Nemo and Dorie (Finding Nemo) and maybe the Wiggles car since they are Disney. Would this work on a sheet cake? Is this even doable or would I really price myself out of it. Just curious. I know that this is alot of characters, but he is not into one thing and the stuff he is into he just likes one or maybe two characters from it.

:dance3: :dance3: Happy Birthday Misty!!!:dance3: :dance3:

don't worry, if it is meant to be, yours will come along. And in the meantime, have fun exploring the possibilities!

Exploring possibilities! I love that! :lmao:

I just don't know how to talk to him and explain that I understand his is busy and stressed, but I do like him and want a 2nd date and I'm letting him decided when and if that will happen - without sounding like scary obsession girl.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am SOOOO there with you. I really don't know what to think about the call I got from "old flame"... and I'm always afraid my emails are going to be from scary obsession girl (of course, the fact that I have ever so briefly been scary obsession girl in the past heightens my fear:rolleyes1 ).

(maybe i should multi-qoute everyone wishing me happy birthday then we would have a whole page dedicated to spongieman.:rotfl:  )

And what's wrong with that?!?! :flower3:

Lynda I think I forgot to apologize about messing up your photography talent to Carrie  but you splained it - and I appreciate all that you've done - How'd you come out on the photography board Firework contest??

I'm not Shannon, but have you gone to a Michaels or JoAnn's craft store and checked out their cake decorating aisle??? WARNING - its addictive!!

Hmmm...Well, I'm really not a cake girl. I mean I can make a killer chocolate cake and all, but I really stick to cookies. Jen (DANCE) is great with the cakes...I'm sure she'll jump in and help you out.

But my opinion? I'm actually not sure if you want the characters actually decorated on the cake or if you mean the little plastic pieces. But I think 3-4 characters would be okay on a cake. I definitely don't have the skill for something like that but if you do (or know someone who does) I think it would be really cute!

Exactly! I know that I can come on strong (i.e. I am totally into you and you have me wrapped around your finger) so I'm trying to make a real effort not to be like that anymore. Unfortunately A. is the first guy I'm testing this "new me" on and I'm not really sure how its going. If another girlfriend tells me to just "avoid" him, I will scream. Avoidance is impossible unless I drop out of school which (duh) is not happening. And I'm not gonna be a jerk to him and not say hello. Games are dumb and I don't want to play them. All I want is for him to give me a definitive answer...yes I like you and want to go out again once I get squared away with school stuff or a no I don't like you or a no I'm just too busy to date right now. I'll take anything right now as long as its a definitive answer. I'm such a control freak...I hate it. I need to know.

Happy Birthday Misty!!

Weigh in last night was DEPRESSING, i lost my bling again..i am so ready to stop paying the 40$ a month to WW and go at it my own....i'm really upset that in 10 weeks i have only lost 3.8 lbs! SO pathetic. when i did WW at home ( granted it was 5 years ago) i lost 15 lbs by now..i am going to give it another week, and really step up the activity and if i don't see big time results i am just cancelling my membership and doing it on my own. grrrrrrr so aggravated

Oh don’t get discouraged!! I lost weight a lot quicker the first time around – but I think the first go ago I had more cardio going on. So I’m trying not to let me get to me.

I’m relatively new here --- so excuse me if you already said this in a previous posts but do you work out? How much do you were work out and what do you do when you work out? I found if you mix it up the weight comes off too!

I had to replace a scale that was going wonky on me a while back. I got the WW scale that measures some other things besides just lbs. I actually haven't read the manual enough yet to know how to use that feature. I like it. I liked display of my other scale better, but once it started giving me false information, I didn't want to go with the same model again. And it had some features I wasn't crazy about anyway. I do wish mine was completely flat. (The one I have is slightly sloped, being slightly higher in the middle.) I feel like I might get different results if I am off balance or something. But all in all, I am happy with my current scale. I think it was about $60 (???) at Linens n Things.
Cool – I have to get a new scale and saw the WW one on line – is that the glass one that you are talking about (I think it was made of glass)? I will have to pick one up next week when I get paid.

I knew it was DANCE--saw your cookies and that was all I could think about:love: . Thank you for your opinion :thumbsup2 I will have to go check out the craft stores and see what I can find. I think I want the characters and not the stick on stuff--just not sure. I have until mid September.

okay, peeps. can my doggie eli be an official peep too? he's overweight and i need to be a better mommy and get him back to a healthy weight. check out that belly......

Picture068.jpg

we're going to savannah in september and we're taking the doggies and i know if he doesn't lose some weight by then, he'll give out within 15 minutes! we have a fenced-in yard so i haven't been walking him.....just open the door and let them go do their business. plus they like to stay out there and play when it's nice out. but we've decided we need to start taking him on walks so it's more vigorous exercise for him. we took him and sherman (the older dog) out together today and he was out of breath after just walking from here to the cul-de-sac and back and that's only like 100 yards! we've got a lot of work to do!!!!

so who watched "dance" tonight? right now i think my favorites are lauren and sabra. i love them both! i didn't think too much of lauren at first but she's really grown on me over the past few weeks.

:goodvibes I know it's probably unhealthy for the little guy but I just want to kiss that belly of his! So cute! But seriously, have you tried the dog foods for weight loss? Almost every major brand has them and that might be a good start although I may talk to your vet about it just to see if he has any tips too. Does he play fetch or anything? Phoebe goes for very short walks around the neighborhood just to get out and do her business, but then we usually play in the backyard with her for 10-15 minutes every night too. She LOVES to fetch her ball. Of course, she does it inside too from the moment she wakes up in the morning. Then she sleeps all day while I'm at school and mom is at work, and then plays fetch some more. Anyway, I'm sure a little extra activity everyday along with a little less food (or lighter versions) will do the trick!

Remember when I mentioned that my mom had to go for a second mammogram to compare the results with the first? Well she made the appointment for this Friday morning if you all could just send some pixie dust and prayers her way. I know it is routine but I'm sure she's a little nervous and I know I am as well. I keep asking her if she wants me to go with her and she says no. But I'll ask again tomorrow.

Thanks Peeps! :flower3:

i know.....i love his pot-bellied pig tummy, too! i don't understand why he's so heavy. he eats the weight loss pedigree dog food and he actually gets more exercise than our older dog, but he's heavier. i guess he takes after his mommy and it just takes more for him to lose the weight! he's due for shots in september and i'm sure the vet will be questioning me about his weight. i may have his thyroid checked to see if the levels are okay - i've heard that can cause problems with dogs. he's in good health now, but that weight is going to be a burden for him when he gets older and i want to do something about it before it gets too bad.

good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust coming your way!!!! :wizard:

Shannon, sending pixie dust and good thoughts. And, I totally understand on the control freak thing!

Dawn, what a cutie! My kitty needs to lose weight too, she was doing well for a while but we have been bad about feeding her too much lately. Mr Kat has issues with spoiling her and feeding her too much cat food (and some table scraps). Yet another reason why kids aren't a good idea for us!

Man, what a freakin' day. I spent my whole day fire-fighting. I won't bore you with too much detail, but normally I spend my day quietly with my computer and chunk through my work... today I was on a call from 2PM-6:30PM and there was MUCH ugliness. None was directed at me, thank goodness, but I hate when people are mean to each other!

Did well on the diet today... under my 1200 calories, 96 oz of water, and did 30 min, 2 miles, on the elliptical and played 1 hour of ice hockey. There was a girl there tonight who is ranked 14th in the country, so the tempo was a LOT higher than usual. I am so out of my league sometimes there and feel somewhat like a traffic cone, but it is still lots of fun.

I am currently sipping a nice 140 calorie glass of dry white wine. I think I deserve it!

So I'm sitting here watching Ninja Warrior (and now The Daily Show as I am finishing this up), kinda bored. Then I thought, what can I post on the Disappearing Peeps board that would kill some time before I go to bed? I started thinking back to when I used to have a Blog (which I kept up for about 6 months, posting long winded posts every day until I got sick of trying to come up with things to write about), and I remembered an A-Z list that I would do once in a while when I had nothing better to write about. So I figured I would post the same thing on here; not only would it keep me occupied, it would allow the rest of you to get to know a little more about your favorite (and apparently only) male Peep. So here it goes, the A-Z of Me. (Feel free to copy this idea sometime if you ever get bored and need to waste a good 1/2 hour of your time.)

A - The first letter of my name.
B - Blues. My favorite style of music.
C - Cats. I am very allergic to them. I know my wife really loves me, because she agreed to give up her cats to be with me.
D - Dogs. I used to be deathly afraid of all dogs big and small. When I was about 5 years old, a little dog bit my hand. Well actually, the dog bit my glove and luckily my hand wasn't where the dog bit. But it was still very traumatizing. Then I got a dog of my own, and I realized that they aren't so bad after all.
E - Eclipse. My gum of choice lately.
F - Fruit. I love fruit. I could live on cantaloupe and watermelon. Yummy!
G - Glasses. I’ve had to wear glasses since I was about 19 or 20. Before I got into the computer biz, I had perfect eyesight. Yet another reason that computers are evil.
H - Hank Aaron. My favorite baseball player of all time.
I - Ireland. The country I would most like to visit. This is where my ancestors are from, so I’d like to look them up to see if I look like them.
J - Java (aka Coffee). I don't drink it, but the company I work for is one of the largest manufacturers of coffee filters in the world.
K - King. As in B.B. King, the first of my three all time favorite musicians.
L - Left-handed. I write, eat, and cook left-handed. But I have conformed and do just about everything else right handed.
M - Music. I love music. The only kind of music I refuse to listen to is rap and hip hop. I can tolerate just about anything else.
N - Nova. My first car was a 1973 Chevy Nova. I still have that car. I don’t think I could ever give it up.
O - Old spirit. I’ve been told that I have a very old spirit. I love old things. Old cars, old music, old movies, old TV shows. Nothing they make today can compare to the old stuff.
P - Perch. My favorite kind of fish to eat. It is really big where I live (especially for Friday Fish Fry’s), but it might not be all that popular in other parts of the country.
Q - Queen. The 2nd of my three favorite bands. I was devastated when Freddie Mercury died of AIDS.
R - Racing. Something I don’t like and do not really understand. What is the fascination with a bunch of cars driving around in a circle for 3 hours?
S - Simpsons, The. Probably my favorite TV show of all time.
T - Trombone. The instrument I played in high school. I found my old one about 6 months ago, and I proved to my wife that I can still play a few songs from memory.
U - Universe. I’m fascinated by the vastness of the universe.
V - Vice. I only have one vice; it isn't alcohol; it isn't drugs; it is sweets. I love cakes and candies and cookies.
W - Wisconsin. The only state I’ve ever lived in. (Unless you count the state of confusion.)
X - X-Ray. I wish I had X-Ray vision. How cool would that be?!? (Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea to do this A-Z list. Why do they put the more difficult letters at the end of the alphabet?)
Y - Y chromosome. The chromosome that makes me a man.
Z - Zeppelin. As in Led Zeppelin, the last of my 3 favorite bands.

I heard about the Simpsonizing on the radio. If you have a headshot of yourself handy, you can do it at http://www.simpsonizeme.com . But I had a ton of trouble with it. It took me a good 40 tries to finally get it to work. Fun concept, pain in the butt to use.
THANKS for the link!!!

i just wrote a long schpeel and it got erased..that is how my day is going so far. :sad2:
i got locked out of my work this morning, and had to finagle a way in which included a pocketknife and a motorcyle..don't ask ...
Weigh in last night was DEPRESSING, i lost my bling again..i am so ready to stop paying the 40$ a month to WW and go at it my own....i'm really upset that in 10 weeks i have only lost 3.8 lbs! Sorry for the rant...i just really feel like i will NEVER drop this weight.

on to nicer things:
Happy birthday Misty :)--hope its a great one!

and i loved the Simpsonized peeeps..very cute!
I found during this last round on WW that the points are now set higher than they used to be - I had to ratchet them down quite a bit and not use my flex points before I started losing. Once I started losing, I was able to use a few points.

Remember when I mentioned that my mom had to go for a second mammogram to compare the results with the first? Well she made the appointment for this Friday morning if you all could just send some pixie dust and prayers her way. I know it is routine but I'm sure she's a little nervous and I know I am as well. Happy, Happy Birthday, Misty! sounds like you got just what you wanted for your birthday!

Thanks, everyone, I had to work late tonight, and if I didn't have friends asking me I would not exercise, but as soon as I finish here I'm on the bike! I didn't do as well as I would like with my water, but I did okay. Thanks for helping me!

Praying for you and your mom, Shannon!

T - Trombone. The instrument I played in high school. I found my old one about 6 months ago, and I proved to my wife that I can still play a few songs from memory.

OMG!!!! I play the trombone! Ok, I haven't played in a few years, but I did play from 6th grade all the way through college (11 years). Proud Alumni of the Notre Dame Band of the Fighting Irish!

So cool! :thumbsup2

we're going to savannah in september and we're taking the doggies and i know if he doesn't lose some weight by then, he'll give out within 15 minutes! we have a fenced-in yard so i haven't been walking him.....just open the door and let them go do their business. plus they like to stay out there and play when it's nice out. but we've decided we need to start taking him on walks so it's more vigorous exercise for him. we took him and sherman (the older dog) out together today and he was out of breath after just walking from here to the cul-de-sac and back and that's only like 100 yards! we've got a lot of work to do!!!!

so who watched "dance" tonight? right now i think my favorites are lauren and sabra. i love them both! i didn't think too much of lauren at first but she's really grown on me over the past few weeks.

OMG Punkin' -- He is too cute!! I love the pudgy belly. :thumbsup2 My puppykins was a bit of a couch potato (just lkie her mommy ) before I got started on the road to a healthy me. I had noticed some pudge a few months ago and started to get a bit worried -- schnauzers are known to gain weight easily in middle age, but she is only 3!! So, now she goes on walks every evening and is slimming down nicely! She's always been "free fed," meaning I just leave dry food out for her all day. She actually goes through less than is recommended for her weight, so I knew that wasn't the problem. However, I realized one Saturday that she was getting (and insisting on) 3-5 treats a day plus little nibbles of stuff here and there :sad2:. That's a lot of extra food for a 15 lb dog!!! She's cut back to one treat when I leave in the morning plus some extra protein every once in a while (a bit of chicken or cheese) and a small spoonful of yogurt or cottage cheese on her food every other day (she LOVES her plain yogurt).

So where was I going with this??? :rolleyes1 Oh yeah (I digress, quite a bit actually) -- I don't know if you give him treats and other goodies, but I would change his eating habits in addition to the exercise... It's crazy how many extra cookies and stuff they get in a day (I never even realized that I was doing it). Also, it's certainly harder to keep track with more than one person giving the treats. To help them keep track, my mom and dad put two treats on the counter in the morning and break off pieces during the day for their dog, but when they are gone, they are gone -- no more for the rest of the day. This way both of them know how much she's already had (the darn dog was begging 3 and 4 treats from both of them, plus going down to my grandmother and getting a few!!).

BTW I would have him tested for diabetes in addition to the thyroid thing.

Good luck on the "doggy diet." It's rough when they want to eat and you have to cut them back.

Oh yeah -- just remembered -- a friend had a pleasantly plump pooch and her vet recommended cutting back on his regular food and then supplementing his diet with plain cooked veggies and pieces of fruit (some things are toxic to dogs -- like grapes) as well as lean proteins and rice. The vets reasoning was that the diet foods are full of fillers and generally processed junk. So rather than adding that kind of bulk, you should add bulk in the form of whole foods. Don't know what I think about cooking a better meal for my dog than myself, but I thought I'd pass on the info...
