I made some bad food choices yesterday, but probably the worst was having a diet coke at 6 p.m. I don't usually 'do" caffeine, and now I didn't get to sleep until 12:30 and woke up at 3:40. I'm praying for energy and patience to deal with my little kinder friends. I also had 2 small sugar-free margaritas. The calories weren't too bad, but the tequila let my guard down, and I ate more of the chocolate tiramisu than I should have. Leftovers are going to the staff room today (of the tiramisu, not the margaritas

)
Aww..we need pictures!!! We went to dinner last night for our anniversary (shamless plug, 6 yrs yesterday
Happy anniversary!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, PEEP MOMS!
I got a big decorated envelope from my son who is in kindergarten and in it was a fill in the blanks letter for me in his sweet little kindergarten hand writing. Here's is what it says with his additions in bold....
My Mom
My Mom is the best!
She has Blue eyes and brown black hair. She weighs 150 pounds and is 34 years old. I think my Mom looks pretty when she gos to the pool. My Mom's favorite thing to do is tickl me. I love her because she is pretty. Happy Mothers Day 2007
It's a keeper!

(...and I'm 34! Did you catch that part?)
I took dictation for the morning and afternoon kinders on their MD cards. One boy told me his mom was 7 y.o. I asked if he thought she was in first grade or second. Then he changed it to 20. Another boy told me his mom worked hard stealing stuff at the store. I asked him what he meant. He said when people want things at the store, they give her money. I wrote down "selling stuff at the store."
Still no presents here - I gave DS $80 to take DD shopping, to Hallmark, and to take her to lunch - spend the day with her I say... and they came home 4 hours later... "where did you eat lunch" "we didnt - we ran out of money"

OK kiddies, WHERE"S MY PRESENT???

Seriously, I have LOL at that, there is no way they spent that much money on me!! DS is still sleeping, I think I have to wait until after dinner to open presents...
My kids went out shopping for me at 9:30 Sat. night. I had the feeling I was going to get a pine tree air freshener for MD, thinking the only thing open was 7-11. They found a video store open, though, and bought me The Prestige. DH really came through, too. He got me a bunch of coconut lime stuff from Bath and Body Works (my favorite "flavor") and some little piggie earrings to wear when I take my class on a field trip to a farm this week.
Shannon - tell us, what music did you chose? So glad it worked out!!
I just worked in the yard for 1 1/2 hours - and you cant tell it -

DS trimmed/pruned the dead evergreen branches, so I had to prune it into bags
that would comply with the village!!
That sounds very ominous! Do you live in an M. Night Shyamalan town?
I am so ready to tell my MIL off - in no uncertain terms!! I am mad as hell, and I'm not going to take her hurting my dh anymore!! Can you believe she turns off her phone to him? My gawd who would cut their SON out of their lives??? to see how this hurts my dh is awful, he deserves love! Do you know he cleans the kitchen, does dishes every day - 25 years + he has done dishes - that is love in my eyes. He has read to the kids every night, every night.... he used to bathe them, then read... as they get independent, he just reads... and he puts so much thought into the books he chooses for those books ( 20 years ago we learned ds #1 was hard of hearing, and we needed a "language enriched environment... well I am spoiled... and it makes me so angry that my mil is so blind to the hurt she causes this amazing, loving, sensitive man!! (17 years ago I "went off" on ds Sign language/hearing impaired school the world needs more sensitive men - why is it women cant accept sensitive men??)
OK. . . I'm sure this is an angry vent, best left on the cutting room floor ( aka delete, delete...)

Sorry about your MIL. Give your sensitive guy an extra hug from me. DD and I are huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans, and one of our favorite quotes is from a character who's dealing with someone acting wacko: "What's your childhood trauma?" You just wonder how some people end up so damaged that they cut out the important people in their lives. DH has an ex-cousin-in-law who literally "banishes" (her word) people from her life. I wanted to say, "What are you? The flippin' evil queen from Snow White?"
Hello Peeps been MIA for awhile.
Hey, christine! Good to see you.

You look fabulous! Your eyes do look sparkly. Love the pictures of your family too. You all are lucky to have each other.
One of the things that woke me up early was an incident from yesterday. DBIL and I were standing out the front talking. He mentioned that neighbors 2 houses over have several non-running vehicles parked out front, and asked me if they were "white trash." I said yes, not because of their yard, but because of the way they treat their children/grandchildren. Everyday, they bellow at the kids things like, "Hey, stupid, shut the GD door," or "WTH did you do to my car?" The swearing and put-downs make me sick, and I even called CPS on them once, but they said if it wasn't physical abuse or neglect, there was nothing they could do. OK, to make a long story even longer, about an hour later, we were all out in the backyard, and I heard our gate opening. I thought it was just our DS, so I said, "Is that you Brendan?" He said, "Yes, and I'm here with the police. They are looking for a 'suspicious black man.'" It turns out this neighbor called the police and said we were out of town, and that he saw a "suspicious black man" go into our yard. The police were very nice, but BIL was upset. He said it's the 2nd time this week he was questioned for being black. At first, I thought the neighbor was just being dumb, not recognizing my BIL who's been part of the family for 9 years. Now, I'm wondering if our voices carried, and he called to get revenge. I'll have to let BIL know that the acoustics on our block really carry voices.
Everyone have a happy Monday, and for those who slid off the wagon yesterday, let's jog alongside for a little bit, then take a running jump back on!
