Back from the first day of walking...is it just me or does anyone else find themselves checking their watches every 5 min. to see how much longer?? It's not that I don't enjoy walking..it's just that with all the weding stress it makes it more of a pain. BUT I did it and that's what counts. I also went thru the garbage bin..no book. Lovely. I just had it last night on the dining room table

Anyway, congrats eeorye on all the weddings coming up!! I don't think I could wait 2 years either....we got engaged in June and 10 mon. was enough!! I would shoot myself with an extra 14 mon. of meddling future in-laws!! DF's sister actually told us that we shouldn't go back to Disney again (we went in Aug) unless we can afford to invite ALL the people in his family, including the distant relatives he hasn't even heard of, first. Then his father told us we invited too many friends. This is coming from people that haven't chipped in a dime to help us out so they have no say whatsoever..nada. :headache:

I won't be able to relax tonight until the wedding Bible is found. It has to be somewhere right under my nose. We have a small house too. Congrats to all the peeps losing weight this week!! I hope to be on that track next Friday as well!! :bride:

Yahoo, I'm FINALLY down 1 pound!

Sorry to post so late - busy day and I'm still out and about shopping, but decided to take a break.

Is your wedding at disney ?

Nope..the wedding is local. They just think two Disney trips in one year is too much. I like to call them "thrifty." ;)

OOOHHH, I totally understand. I threatened to elope if people didn't stop "helping" us! :) And I was very serious.

That's funny you should say that b/c a few weeks ago we figured out how much we would lose if we ended up eloping....we decided it was just too much. So we are hanging in there. We have a "sit-down" with the future in-laws tomorrow night to talk about the rehearsal dinner. Can't wait! ;)

When I was planning my wedding, my future in laws were wonderful. They weren't local, so they had to trust us on a lot of things but were really supportive of all our decisoins. They volunteered to help find outfits for my kids and then volunteered more time making certian food items for our pre-wedding dinner and reception. Of course we had a really small wedding, only about 30-40 people but it was nice and fairly relaxed. My family on the other hand was driving me crazy. My one grandma 'helped' a bit too much and almost got herself un-invited. She hid the keys to the community center that we rented for our dinner and then took so much time messing around with the fruit plate I asked her to make that my diabetic dad had a severe drop in blood sugar and we almost had a scene during the reception. Thankfully some one noticed he was starting to act funny and got him some food or it could've been really ugly. All in all though, I had a fantastic day and other than a few glitches, would do it over again.

No weigh in for me this week. I an taking the month off and will start back up on Apr 1st. (No that's not a joke!!!!!)

Dh and I actually eloped about 2 mos before our wedding. We told his mom and Grandma but that's it. We had our wedding so the family could be there but the legal aspects were taken care of. I fugured that no matter how badly the day went, no one could tell us we weren't married. (We went to the judge because the person I wanted to officiate the ceremony wasn't available and we couldn't find anyone else to do it as our home churches were so far away. We had a good friend stand in as our 'minister' for the wedding. It actually worked out better that way.)

eventer98 - you better get used to all that in-law mess because -- and you obviously already know this -- but those future in-laws will soon be just the plain old in-laws and they're a permanent fixture! it just comes with the package. i love my mother-in-law, but she's a loon! when we bought our house she was freaking out because she said she couldn't understand how we could afford it. and i mean FREAKING OUT. and our mortgage is only $100 more a month than our rent was! my DH was like, "mom, do you think we both make minimum wage or something???"

in her latest episode she called to invite us over to grill out. i asked her what we'd be having and she said, "we're having hamburgers and i'm going to grill some chicken too so you'll have something to eat." i have absolutely no idea what she's talking about. i've always eaten hamburgers, minus the 6 months i was a vegetarian in 1998, but that wouldn't matter because chicken is still animal meat!!! now i do admit that i don't like baked beans or potato salad, which is usually what she makes with hamburgers, but she's still having the same sides....just adding chicken to it. i don't get it?!!???? and her tone was like i was being a pain in the neck!

anyway, just a warning - they will probably not get better after you're married. but if your DH is a good guy like mine, he'll help you keep your sanity through the wedding and for many years to come!!!

Sounds like you had your share of stress as well!! We are having a 20 min. quickie ceremony with a judge right at the reception site. I don't think I could bear much more then that...not a person that likes to be the center of attention!! :scared1: I personally think the reason DF's family is so meddling is b/c my mom passed away 3 years ago and perhaps they think I need the guidance?? Either way it is wearing us down...we blame them for all the tension arguments the past few months. We just keep remember it is our day and in the end none of this will matter!! :goodvibes

funny wedding story: i was a slacker and didn't do my research as far as the timelines to get our marriage license. well, i call 3 weeks before our wedding to make arrangements to get it and find out there's a 6-week waiting period because they have to do a blood test. you can expedite it, but it costs like $75 more and at that point i had NO money to spare. so we decided to drive up to gatlinburg, tennessee one week before our wedding date and get our license up there. there's no waiting period and no blood test. you just find a magistrate and they marry you. we ended up getting married on the porch of an old general store in the mountains. the magistrate that married us took a picture of us right after the "ceremony" and there's a sign behind us that says, "come on in, y'all"! anyway, we didn't tell anyone but our parents and it was kind of cool that we were secretly married a week before our wedding. now we consider our wedding anniversary to be a week long instead of just a day! :rotfl:

That's a REAL nice story!! Something I wish we could have done. Unfortunately, we don't have that lovely blood test requirement up here in NY, which I think is a good thing? :thumbsup2 We did have to wait on DF's divorce decree from CT...he ordered in like 6 weeks ago but was never called and told the lady he talked to was new and lost his c.card info. So we just got it today..they must have rushed it b/c they said it normally takes 3 weeks. I was not pleasant a week ago when that nonense went down! :headache:

Thanks for listening to me complain and hog this thread all night..time for bed. Early horsie appt. in the AM.

punkin I love that story!!

Hey, I tried to get them to do a Disney wedding ;)

OOOHHH, I totally understand. I threatened to elope if people didn't stop "helping" us! :) And I was very serious.

DH and I tried to tell them to elope - but they want the wedding - and be careful, I'm the mother- in - law!! ;) ;) ;)

Seriously though, her mom is a piece of work, so much so this last summer she (the future dil) moved in with us - her parents divorced, and her mom is extremely controlling - she got remarried last summer...

well for the look see at the venue fdil wanted me there, as did my son, so of course she invites her mom, even like you they arent paying one iota towards the wedding (but tried to offer $250 towards her dress IF IF she got to pick it out!!) Well, apparently the next day mom called fdil to complain about me (and I know this because fdil invited me to lunch the next day!!) and fdil just laughed, she said "I love that you are there, because you stand up to my mom, you make my mom shut up AND you think like I do" (shwoo) and I am "passive agressive" See they are Catholic, we are Lutheran, but fdil doesnt want the BIG wedding, and wants to get married in the venue... which made her mom so angry... and when she thought to ask me I said "well as long as they ask God to be there..." and then I walked away because I almost said something very sarcastic!! Which of course insulted the mom!!! oops.. They are paying for their wedding, right now they've locked in a 4 course sit down dinner - with a full bar!! for $30 per person (and it includes everything, centerpiece, cake, food, wine, champagne, hordeourves, desserts, piano etc!!) I'm trying to give my son money - and I think I'll just open a secret savings account and present them with a check on the Wedding Day ...

I love that fdil is here now, she had her wisdom teeth pulled and so I made her come here to recuperate -

I know I got carried away, I'm just so excited!! Anything I do, I tell her, and then also make sure they know they can tell me to shut up, or back off - alot can happen in two years!!

picture time! these are the only two i have of our adventure up to gatlinburg to get hitched. the one where we're smooching is kinda discolored because i scanned it in while it was still in a picture frame. and DH doesn't look to happy in the other one! maybe it was the 4-hour drive through the mountains and running around gatlinburg like a couple of maniacs before we found the right guy that did him in!!!! :lmao: ahhhhh.....the memories. i can't believe it's already been five years!

You are an amazing mother in law!!! Mine is a few sandwiches short of a picnic, if you know what I mean! I've learned to laugh at her oddness because if I didn't I'd cry.......she has lived in my basement for the last 7 years!!! My dh has less tolerance for her than I do. She tried to medle in everything about our wedding. I'll stop now because I could write a novel about her whackyness! This is the women who gave me a "face massager/vibrator" for christmas last year!!!:scared1:

my mother-in-law always buys me underwear for christmas that are 3 sizes too big!!! i mean, i know i have the ghetto booty thing goin on, but come on! i won't say what size she got (seeing as this is a weight loss board and i don't want to get booted! :rotfl2: ), but let's just say you could fit about 2 of me into them. and this happens EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

by the way, does anyone know if anything special happens to my "DIS status" when i hit 500 posts? i'm getting awfully close and i'm just curious!

OK talk about :wizard: i am Down 3 lbs!:confused3 Have no idea how that happened. I like this thin mints and no exercise diet! But I'm guessing it won't last another week, so I'll be good this week and try to lose a bit more before WDW, so I have a bit of room to gain! This isn't a real loss, just takes off the 3 I'd gained the last couple of weeks!

Good job on the loss Harley...weird week, huh?

yep but I'll take a loss any way I can get it

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARIES!!!!! HAVE A FANTASMIC DAY!:wizard:

what she said!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I have it saved, so when ever I have a weak moment (and I'm sure I'll have plenty of those before AND after I reach my goal) I can read it and remind myself how great it is to feel strong and in control. Hopefully it'll snap me out of what ever rut I am in at that time. I don't ever wanna see 200 lb again!

Just curious, how tall are you?

I lost 1 lb

Happy Birthday Aries

I went to buy some capris today. I bought the same kind I bought last March, but last year they were a size 3X and this year I bought a size large.

I swear she didnt think we could handle feeding her boys. we laugh about it now, but it drove us crazy for a while!
