MELINDA

party: :jumping1: :rockband: :cake:

Danielle - Tell your DD that sounds exciting. Which amusement park and where do you live? How old is she?

I so agree! Happy B-day Melinda! Do something for you today just because!

True Story...I was once proposed to by Simon LeBon from Duran Duran fame. He never got back to me on the whole exact date of the wedding thing though. I always wondered because it may not have been,
"Dawn, your most beautiful creature on this earth, will you be my bride?"

Rather it may have been,

"Dawn, you are the worst stalker I have seen since birth, if you don't leave me alone, I will stab myself in the side."

Not quite sure because they sound the same from 100 yards getting chased by security.

Dawn, I was also over-the-top obsessed!!! My fave was John Taylor! I had a huge poster of him over my bed! I bought their greatest hits cd for me for Christmas. I love it! Teen Bop and Tiger Beat posters were like wallpaper. But I never did get to see a concert. On the edge of my seat waiting for the rest of this story! What was John Talyor wearing. Their favorite movie and inspiration for their name was Barbarella (dirty movie with Jane Fonda). I use to know every detail of their lives - sad.

Sorry I missed the Friday weigh-in!!! -Michelle[/B]

Hey, Michelle - we have missed you!

Well its official.

DS proposed to his girlfriend, and she accepted!!

The weather was horrible, but she drove down with a friend (the friend drove) it took well over 5 hours (usually 2 1/2 hours) the wind was whipping snow across roads...

DS had planned on a romantic walk, a poem and flowers... but the weather was too cold, she said they got a block from the apartment, and said, k that's enough!! :rotfl2: Love practical women!! Then he had her favorite flowers delivered, and he got down on one knee (while she was trying to decipher his writing!!) and he pulled out an engagement ring (she knew he couldnt afford one mind you, but my mom mailed her mother's wedding rings to him.. yes, just mailed!! :sad2: its about a half carot white gold or plat. ring) and he knew it wouldnt fit, but he was too anxious... and I wouldnt let him get it sized w/o her...

It fit!!

:dance3:
So I have 2 years before I have to fit in a (*gulp) mother of the groom dress!! I am so running that 1/2 marathon!!

AAWWW, that is so sweet! Congrats!

Happy Saturday everyone!
Just wanted to post a picture of my dog, Phoebe, and I from the walk we did this morning for the humane society. It was a ton of fun and we had a blast. Hope everyone is having a great day!

walk4animals.jpg
Great picture! You are both beautiful!

I need to go back to work on my stats class.

Thanks for all the safety wishes. :grouphug: It all went South of us. Has anyone heard from Sparkie? It was really bad down where she lives. South AL got hit really hard. The news thought it was all going to the North, and I think they got surprised. It is a shame.

I forgot to say :welcome: ! Glad to have you here!

Thank You

Hello Everyone!!! Can you believe it...all the GA girls on at once! Been a while! And welcome new GA girl Punkin!!!

Welcome to Angel too :wave2: You have to let me know how that 6 week diet goes...I watched the whole info-mercial and it looked really cool!!!

Happy belated Birthday Jen and glad your kitty came home!!! I was so sad  for you when I read it and then so happy :yay: when you posted he came home! Whew...what a gambit of emotions!!!

Eeyore - I love the Mean Mom poem...I am going to print it and give it to my DD13...don't know if she will appreciate it or not, but I loved it.

Shannon - lots of prayers and :grouphug: to you!

I know I am foreting people so :grouphug: to everyone just to cover you!!!

The 6WBM is going great. It kind of hard to adjust to but i'm doing it. It;s not easy giving up salt and sugar.

Ok, WHAT is the 6 week body makeover?

I was going to reply, but I noticed that Harleygirl responded. She actually explained it alot better than I would have.

we have a great time!! come and join us!

Michael Thurmonds program - remember the Extreme Makeovers? hes the trainer they used - I have this program and you answer lots of questions regarding your body and eating patterns etc...then you customize an eating plan and exercise plan for your body type...its like a very restricted phase I of SB ...for my body type....very few carbs on the rapid wt loss plan, left me feeling like I was very sick...

Some people actually get headaches, etc. when they start this program. I was told it was due to the lack of salt and sugar. A kind of withdrawal of sorts. It passes within the first week though.

DENE!!!

GOOD WEIGH IN MORNING, PEEPS!!! :sunny:

Peeps........I confess....I woke up very late today and there was so much yakkin goin' on last night....I had to skim. But just a few comments....

:welcome: ANGEL!!!

:welcome: MADSOFA!!!

I lost the weight I wanted to lose here but am hanging on for the motivation and accountability to keep it off. Please post often so we can get to know you. I'm the keeper of the birthday calendar so pm me your birthdays.

GEORGIA GIRLS........I've missed you and I'm VERY glad you are all OK.

ALABAMA & MISSISSIPPI GIRLS....Glad you guys are safe too!

SHANNON....I'm praying for your dad! And.......a couple pounds were bound to sneek back in....don't worry!

STACEY.....Hope your hip is better today. Praying for you too.

SANDY, EEYORE, FIDGE, PIXIE, MOO....... Just 'cause....

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!!! :flower3:

Thanks for the welcome. I am glad that I could join such a great group of people

Tiptoeing in.... Hi Peeps - remember me?:flower3:
Yes, I'll admit I've been avoiding the thread lately. I've just been so dicouraged and disgusted with myself, I couldn't bring myself to visit. The flu may have kicked my behind, but the antibiotics did a nice job of kicking the rest of me. I've been on Cipro for 10 days and it's made me insanely nauseous and my lower abdomen is distended to the point where I look pregnant. And I've put on another 4-5 pounds to boot.
I haven't been able to exercise at all; even the smallest efforts left me fighting to catch my breath.

BUT... today is the last day of Cipro :yay: and my lungs, while not 100%, are better  and I know I need to get back on track. I'll admit that I don't have a lot to lose, weight-wise, but it's still such a struggle for me. I still don't aim to be skinny-skinny, but I can't keep trying to fool myself into thinking I'm happy with my body as it is. I'm not. And it's going to change.

So, as of tomorrow, here's what's going to happen:
1. I start the South Beach diet. I've done it before and it was hellatious, but effective. I need fast results to stay motivated to keep it off.
2. Yoga at least every other day while in Phase 1 of SBD. I know from past experience that I cannot combine aerobic activity with Phase 1, and this gives my lungs a chance to recover.
3. Treadmill, Tae-Bo, or other aerobic activity at least 4 times a week during Phase 2 and beyond. No ifs, ands or buts.
4. Check in with my Peeps before checking my other subscriptions. No more falling far, far behind and no more avoiding the accountability.

W.I.S.H me luck peeps! I know I can do it - I need help wanting to do it! :rotfl:

Thanks for welcoming me and much luck to you. You CAN do it.

Well, This was my first week and I am happy to say that I lost 6 pounds:cool1: , and I have alot more energy.

I think I need to modify it somewhat though because I always feel stuffed. You have to eat so often on this program that I am suprised that you can lose so much weight.

:cheer2: Congrats to everyone that has lost weight this week and hang in there to everyone else.

We are all in this together:)

I have ALOT of catching up to do. I wasn't able to get online yesterday because a tree fell in my back yard and knocked all of the electrical wires and cable/telephone wires from the house. It also knocked the electrical box completely off the house. Needless to say, it was a mess. I had to call an electrician, then the electric company then the cable/telephone company. Everything is back to normal this morning, thank god. So, I have to few more pages to catch up on. You guys add these pages on quickly, WHEW. I have to go do some reading now:surfweb:

To Winkers and those who care even slightly -

I was at age 13 on totally obsessed with Duran Duran. I mean OBSESSED. I had the Duran Duran board game, 2 billion Teen Beat magazines and buttons, t-shirts, sunglasses, shoes (remember those oxford style lace up shoes??? Had them in gray, black and white) and shoelaces. Seriously over the moon for them. Are you Hungry Like A Wolf? James Bond - View to a Kill soundtrack!! Simon Lebon had a yacht that capsized in 1998 that was called Drum Of England. Nick Rhoades married a girl from Iowa named Julianne whose dad owned Yonkers. B-days got them all.

When I went out of town...I brought posters with to put on the walls. I needed (need) thereapy!

Okay...so in 1997 I had tickets to see them w/ David Bowie and Georgia Sattelite. The bus that transported all the gear for DD and GS ended up in a wreck...all the tour gear was ruined and they had to not attend the Minneapolis concert. So I has stayed in line for 3 days for zero reason. I had drank water and pop with complete strangers...sang Kumbia with stoners all in the hopes of showing my affection. And now...I would see a skinny transvestite from the 2nd row. Up close...enough to see the definition of every middle muscle... and again...not the muscle of my fiance...the muscle of a lipstick drag show queen. (Sorry to Bowie fans...just not my thing)

So after waiting another 10 months and toiling through Power Station and Arcadia (true Duran Duran geeks will understand...Get it on Bang a Gong...get it on...) I found out that Simon, John, Nick and Roger would be playing at an intimate venue known as First Avenue. Capacity only about 1500. My good friend in HS named Justin Fingerhut's dad owned it. (If you are unaware of the historical significance of this place...rent Purple Rain with Prince...met him several times too...very pretty) This said I was in...backstage...front row...DEAD CENTER...Can you hear the Angels sing...GOD BLESS AMERICA...LAND THAT I LOVE...:woohoo:

Okay...gotta go get a girl to the ER...Mama Bear Jo's daughter Hanna just called sobbing that she smashed her hand between 2 snowmobiles. Story will be continued.

But a small tease....Simon was wearing a white linen button down shirt...he had no chest hair and my face felt like it was home as I might have accidently knocked him against a couch...perhaps falling into his lap...wearing a 80's miniskirt that was possibly very short.

I hope Hanna is ok!! And that is a really good cliff hanger!!

Well its official.

DS proposed to his girlfriend, and she accepted!!
Congratulations, that proposal was better than mine DH just said "here's the ring" :lmao: So romantic, he has improved with age. :thumbsup2 We were young too, we have been together since we were 16 ahhhhh, we were together for 3 years then engaged for 3 years and this year we will have been married for 12 years!

How about vibratour????? Sorry it's all it could think of that sorta rhymed!:rotfl:
:rotfl: Ummmm actually I think that's spelt the same :rotfl:

Dawn your stories just get funnier, trouble is I never know which are real :rotfl2:

WHERE IS DAWN!

I came back for the rest of the Duran Duran story!

OMG! I hope Hanna is OK! And I CAN'T WAIT for the rest of this story! :rotfl: I was also a Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, and Teen Bop reader back in the day!

People, People, gather round...here is the rest of the story I will lay down.

(1st...Hanna is okay...just terribly sprained...muscle bruising...the worst was when they asked if she might be pregnant because they were going to X-Ray. I answered for her as she also said No. My son Treyner is dating her so that was slightly akward and very uncomfortable! Thank You God for good kids)

Okay...back to Simon....

So I know that it may seem hard to believe but this is all true. Honest. Seriously True. No kidding...I still have the emotional scars to prove it.

So I find out that Duran Duran will be at 1st Avenue. Justin (my buddy) gets me backstage with the understanding that I will observe only. No pawing, groping, throwing Victoria Secret products, clawing, pulling or erotically tempting. That was the rules. As set by Justin and his father. For some reason they understood my silence as an afirmation of understanding those said rules. I never agreed to them verbally. I rather, sat in mute observation...sure that those rules would sink into my rational conciousness and through osmosis I would obey. Did not work out that way though because...HELLOOOO...17 year old FREAK who is sure that Simon did not want Yasmine the French SuperModel. What kind of man wants a voluptuous, hip swinging fiend when he can have a...teen aged string bean who needs to put ductape around her chest to manufacture 1 breast. The ever popular UNI Hoo Hoo B**B :cheer2: Come on now...what says HOT like the swellings of 1st love.

Sooo... I lost my ever lovin freakin mind. No kidding...I was nuts. I saw Simon....I remember thinking....blink Dawn blink....and the next thing I know I am on him like maggots on a 2 day old corpse. (okay not a sexy visual but ya get the pic) There was a green couch behind him and I believe he thought I tripped forcing him on the couch by complete accident. There may be some truth to that recollection. I remember having 6" stiletto heels on that were deep red and that paired with a too short Mini skirt, black tank top, red hoop earings and bangle bracelet. (thought I looked hot) My momentum carried me faster than my feet and I probably did stumble.

Okay so me, Simon and couch. It honestly lasted 5 seconds (the couch scene you sickos) and he graciously helped me up..asked if I was okay and then squeezed my shoulders and said he would see me during the concert. That was how it happened but I am totally a scent person who remembers things by smell and taste.

He smelled like a testosterone laiden muscle. Ya know that sweet scent of a man who just started working out and has took a minute from his routine to place his arms around you and kiss the tip of your nose. The musky scent that means he is not afraid of work but takes care of his grooming. The smell of bergamont and a hint of clove. The smell of something you taste for the first time and want to roll it over and over in your mouth because once that bite is swallowed, you will never recapture that reaction to it for the 1st time ever again? That is how Simon Charles LeBon smelled. I wanted to die.

Next I am clocked in the arm by Justin who informs me that I am the biggest loser God graced this earth with. I put my hand up to Justin's mouth and said to him to just Hush. My moment with Simon was still quaking within me and his big trap was ruining it.

So FF to the concert...every roadie who did a sound check was greeted by my psychotic screams. I really was sure each of them was the band starting. People around me were past amused...past annoyed..past furious...they were plotting ways to get me under the nearest bus. I did not care. I had a moment and that moment still gives me tingles to this day.

The concert rocked. I don't remember a single thing besides the fact that I was glad for tight jeans, tighter t-shirts and both changes of clothes. Roger was so much smaller than I ever thought, Nick had better make-up skills than I ever had, John was petite framed but ripped in the arms and abbs, but my Simon....he was perfection. Thick, muscular thighs, blond touseled locks and his hands were visions of sculpted perfection.

I know he and I made eye contact several times....but alas we never spoke again. He was escorted to the bus after the show and my running skills could not get past the security and as they left...Simon forgot somehow my engagement ring.

(okay so that part is a lie....he didn't want us to be conventionally tied to one another. He said our love would be like leaves in the wind....constantly moving and yet momentarily dancing, intertwined for brief snippits in time.)

Okay so ya know he did not say that either but a girl has got to have something to hold onto at night besides her pillow. :cloud9:

I gotta go....I'll let ya know the foreign exchange students stories later if anyone wants...

Did you ever see the naughty movie they did that was all clips of videos they had including Girls on Film? I have a copy somewhere....X-rated music videos that today would be mainstream! :rotfl2: John was wearing a black t-shirt with a buttoned down oxford that was red over it. Black leather pants and black boots. (just slightly obsessing here)

That's a great story, definatley one to be passed thru the generations. Altho I'd hate to think of my Grandma in a mini skirt at stelletos! Thanks to you, I've been singing Duran Duran songs all day! "her name is rio and she dances on the sand.............." At least I think those are the words!

You're gracefull meeting reminds me of the only time I've met someone famous. I was in one of the smithsonians when Laura Bush and a bunch of people she was having a tour with walked into the room. My dsis-inlaw and I were the only ones there. She came over to talk to us and asked if we'd like a picture and the wonderfull statement I managed to say is "I just love you!". She probably wanted to call for security because I'm sure I had this stupid look on my face. My meeting even made front page of my local paper. That's how small of a town I live in.

Okay...so I just had to share a great pic of my son Treyner and Hanna - Mama Bear Jo's daughter....10 years from now we would love a beautiful Grand-child! :rotfl2:

She is the one who hurt her thumb earlier! Treyner is so cute for her...kissing her thumb...then when he finds out it isn't broken...races her to the car so he can drive and does not open the door for her...My son needs to put the 2 year old in the high chair sometimes and have his Mini adult come out!!!

We have now fixed the sledding dilema. We found some this afternoon, but this first sledding experience was on swimming rafts!

GREAT PICS!!! The girls look like they were having a blast!!! If my hind end would have been on one of the swimming rafts...I would have been drowning because it so would have popped! Our HS kids steal lunch trays to sled with...we also have matress races here. that's where people rig mattresses with runners and go down ski hills. Hanna's brother and friends went sledding at one of the local ski slopes "after hours" last night. Not legal...but so much fun...not that I would have done that as a young teen...ahemmm.

Your camera takes great pics...I need a new one!

That is a nice picture. I really like him a lot. He is a sweet boy/mankid. :rotfl2: .

Dawn - great picture!! :rotfl: the accident reminds me of ds and his gf - they were at my mom and dads lake house on a skooter, and they tumbled, and she was bleeding, ended up in the er with stitches, upset my mom so much that they sold that skooter!! :rotfl2: I'll look for a pic to post!!

to eeyore45 - yeah, i have an exercise ball. actually, my trainer friend (a/k/a wonder woman) does a class at my gym that focuses on the ball. it's called total tone and it rocks! :thumbsup2

if you have a ball, try these exercises (if you haven't already).

for legs:

put the ball behind you between yourself and a wall and right against the biggest part of your butt. now lean backwards against the ball and squat. be sure to not put your weight in your toes, but your heels instead. it's fun to do to the rhythm of music and to do slow squats, then speed it up until you can't go anymore. then take it down and hold it for 30 seconds. it's hard, but it's super good for you legs! oh, and be sure to clean your ball before you lean it against light-colored wall paint or it'll stain your wall!

for tummy:

this one's kind of tricky. put the ball under your belly and face the floor. now crawl forward until the ball is under your knees/lower part of your legs so that you're sort of balancing on your hands and facing the floor. now pull your knees toward your chest and then back out straight again and repeat til you can't anymore. it's great for your tummy!

OMG - those are GREAT Exercises,, absolutely hard to do the tummy one tho... must be working then!!

Congratulations! It's exciting when one of your kids gets married!:groom:

Well, I have 6 mos to fit in a Mother of the Bride dress! :scared1: (Geez that's coming up fast!) We both can do it!!!

*sigh, ok, I'll hang on - good to know I'm not alone!!

and everyone - THANKS for the Congrats!! I dont have any real life friends to share the news with, ds hasnt called my parents yet... so you're the first I've told!! :hippie:
