you're preaching to the choir!

I might be making it sound worse than it is. I mean I think she would do anything really, but I can just tell that she isn't jazzed about some of the ideas I'm brought up. Even though it is a vacation to celebrate me finally being done with my master's, I want her to be excited about the trip too. But she's not giving me many ideas and the ones she does give, I'm not too excited about.

Dawn, as a sort of side note, I was planning on doing the trip when school ends so it would be end of april to beginning of may. If I did Disney, maybe we could have a peep meet!

Hey y'all.

guess what?

I'm wearing size 16 pants.

I feel like at any second the fashion police are going to jump out and say "You faker! You're a 28! You're not a 16! Get those clothes off!"
Wooo Hooootie! You sexy skinny sista!
Spongie Update- they're in their hotel which she says is great, and going to breakfast before heading out to DisneyLand!!!!! YAY!!! I keep thinking her kids are going to be SO CRAZY HAPPY, but it's really Misty and her DH who will be beyond happy! I 'd bet money Misty will CRY at some point within the first 5 minutes! I will NOT call her 50 times today!

Her littlest son is Mayson who is 2, and he practically shakes with delight when he sees Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...it's the cutest thing!

Don't we all cry on the way in (and the way out, but for a different reason)? And gotta love a Disney lovin' little guy:thumbsup2

"its as easy as ABC... 123"

OK Sandy, I started out reading TigerBeat to find out about Donnie, Michael and Tony DiFranco. Whatever happened to him anyway? Then in high school, I had the big Peter Frampton poster in my room, where he had mascara on his chest hairs to make them show up, and of course a Roger Daltrey album cover to say good night to every night. I did see AC/DC and Cheap Trick in concert, but somebody spiked the orange juice and I don't remember it like I should (just remember the badly blistered sunburn on the :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc because I was wearing a bikini top and feeling no pain).

OK, am I going to show my age if I tell you that my first concert was Santana in 1968? Yikes, I'm an antique!!!!! I was a huge KISS fan in my early 20s and I think I saw them 9 times in 4-5 years. The groups I was in love with as a kid were the Beatles and the Monkees.
Loved and still love the Beatles, but I had a total crush on Peter Tork. What a cutie pie he was!

OK, now some actual diet talk. We went to Elephant Bar for lunch today, and I had the best wrap ever! It was smoked turkey and green apple. I'm thinking I could make it at home and shave off quite a few calories. I'm ready to put chopped green apple on everything now! Sadly Elephant Bar does not give out nutritional info, but I notice on calorie king that wraps generally are lower in calories than regular sandwiches. Oh, I'm gonna dream about that sandwich (and maybe Peter Tork) tonight!:cloud9:

dwheatl - i can't remember what part of Cal. you are from, but are you ok? Those fires are getting worse. My niece can't return to Pepperdine right now, due to the smoke closing down the interstate. :sad2:

GOOD MORNING!!!

I admit skimming today since I woke up late-ish

CONGRATULATIONS ON A LIL BOY, TARA!!!

Boys are so much fun!!!

WELCOME BACK, SANDY!!!

Now....where's Fidgitte!?

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

Tara---I caught your siggie last night but was unable to post. Congrats to a boy !!!!:woohoo: My nephew is named TY. Love the name.

I actually went to 3 New Kids on the Block concerts. :sad2: (You know I love you guys to be telling you that one! :rotfl: ) And since leaving college, I've seen Garth Brooks, Survivor, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, No Doubt, Journey, Ashlee Simpson, Blue Man Group, and Gwen Stefani, among others. I LOVE concerts! Mom must have ingrained it in me. I WAS relieved not to be the oldest ones there last night though. ;)

OK, I did too....3 New Kids concerts for me too. I loved them, I may still have their prehistoric cassettes around here someplace too :rolleyes1 I had such a crush on Joey McIntyre
HAHAH..i totally loved NKOTB back in the day as well. Being from the Boston area "their hometown" we always had these crazy NKOTB events whenever they were intown. I remember once my mom took me and one of my best friends to the local mall and stood in line for 3 hours just to meet their mothers!!!!!!! :rotfl: I think my mother still holds that over my head..it was pretty lame.but hey, i was 12!! :lmao:

I've taken up knitting again, and I've read at least 6 books!! (nothing exciting, or mind enriching - all happy endings tho!!)
I love knitting! I just started to knit myself, i am making a shawl out of some nice alpaca wool..so fun! :)

That sandwich sounds great! I wonder, did it have any Brie cheese in it? It sounds like a combo that would require some dairy ;)

Have a great day everyone..

I admit skimming today

Ditto. So, please don't think I mean it any less since I didn't quote like crazy but...Congratulations! to all of the people buying smaller sizes; Congrats! on the baby boy; I miss my NKOTB buttons, was in love with Joey and still have all of the pay-per-view concerts on VHS ( ) and my BF looked so much like one of the boys that he once convinced a girl in HS that he was related to the Knights!

Oh, and late last week, whomever posted about the Fiber One bars - THANK YOU! They are soooo yummy AND filling! A little on the expensive side for only 5 bars per box, but I'll try to grab them when they are on sale and that just forces me to ration them out.

Actually, I've been skimming since the weekend's posts. I don't normally have a chance to DIS on the weekends, so I'm always way behind on Monday. I think I need to change that. Especially with this thread. Perhaps it will keep me even more in check on the weekends.

Oooh, Peeps. I'm having a perfectly craptacular week. First off, the scale is traveling...in the wrong direction. Which sucks. Because I'm being eating well. And drinking more water. I have a feeling that I was spoiled by losing so much in my first week (5+ lbs.) and am still paying for past sins (read: 'the birthday weekend').

Second, I have a pretty important quiz in my 'Statistics for Behavioral Psychology' class tonight. And I know I'm prepared...I just don't feel prepared. :sad2: The thing is, if we do well enough on the quizzes, we don't have to sit the exam, and that's my goal!

Finally, work is just insane this week. And there's no slowing down in sight.

I'm trying to keep everything in perspective, maintain a positive attitude and just plow forward. BF's birthday is this weekend and I have Monday off. Then I have next Thursday off for the BF's shoulder surgery. So there is time off on the horizon. And I think this Saturday is the first one in about 3 months where I haven't had some sort of appointment (hair, nails, therapy, vet, etc.). :faint:

(And no, Cel, that vet appointment wasn't for me...for the kitties...lest we have any more animal-related confusion. :rotfl: )

I've started a daily spreadsheet for recording everything I eat. It sums my daily total at the bottom. I want to have a sharper idea of what I'm taking in each day, so that in a few week's time I can see what my patterns are (carbs...I already know it's carbs...but I'm still half in denial) and can really cut back. (WI DisneyFan's Excel extravaganza was inspiring!)

I'm also making myself finish 32oz. of water (one of my containers) before I have anything else.

So that's that. I'm hoping for good karma this week. And to be at least a samer this week and not a gainer. And I need to make a dent in that Thanksgiving goal.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

:flower3:

Dawn, as a sort of side note, I was planning on doing the trip when school ends so it would be end of april to beginning of may. If I did Disney, maybe we could have a peep meet!

cool! our dates are april 27th to may 3rd. winkers said they were thinking about going that week, too! if we do a peep meet, maybe breakfast? that way i can let DH sleep in and not have to worry about meeting my "imaginery friends from the internet." he's not a breakfast person anyway......and i need tonga toast again!

I think I just missed the post.

Morning.

Have a good one.

you were very pregnant at the time so you probably had "pregnant brain!" :rotfl:

Oooh, Peeps. I'm having a perfectly craptacular week.

 hope it gets better. remember.....dieting and exercise are like an investment. you don't see the results immediately, but you will! it takes about a week for me to see any results from anything i do as far as that goes. i did the spreadsheet too when i first started counting calories and it works really well! :thumbsup2

this is for harley, so if anyone sees her tell her i posted this for her! my dad went to dragon's tail this past weekend. it's a road near gatlinburg that has something like 318 turns in 11 miles. it's supposed to be something really cool for bikers to do. anyway, here's he and his girlfriend up in the mountains. boy, that leather adds about 20 pounds, huh? as my brother says, he's "hoggin out!"

tinking! Hi! I didn't know you posted here.
I swear I'm going to stop skimming!

Mainly cuz I'm scared if I don't get serious, my weight loss will stop. I just put the numbers in my spreadsheet (I'm a nerd) and I lost 5.6 pounds between the 5th and the 19th. Wow.

And I'm not even really trying.

and I'm not exercising! :sad2: i've got to get motivated.

but watch out tinking - with your BF's surgery - Tammy just had surgery and I had to ration myself when it came to food - I was in the house with her for 4 days straight and I kept thinking about food - so I'd make deals with myself ("No splenda cherry pie filling until 3 PM!")
I think it worked pretty well.
That and not having alcohol in the house.

Everyone else - we're going to try and go back to WDW in early May. Maybe this time I can actually make a peep meet instead of running into various people by accident.

Peeps...I need major pixie dust here. Bring out the reserves. Along with my externship next semester, I still have one class to take. So last night I looked to see when it was being offered (what night). Well all that is available is an online section for distance students. Uh-oh. I email my "advisor" and she tells me I have a problem and I can't take that class and may have to wait til the summer to take it...which means graduating a semester later! I can't do it. I'm ready now! She said there may be a mistake in the schedule because there should be another online class being offered that she will allow me to enroll in. She won't know until Thursday when she speaks to the head of the department if the class is supposed to even be offered or not. PLEASE PLEASE send pixie dust that the class is available and I can register for it. I have been crying for the past half hour thinking that I will be graduating late and now I have to go put make up on "crying face". Not fun. ugh, it's gonna be along day.

Thanks peeps!

Thanks for the hugs. The 'real' me knows that the numbers on the scale will turn around. The 'stressed as all get out' me is just looking for anything positive to cling to.

Awesome! Congratulations!

Thanks for the words of warning. I think I'll be ok. I'll be at the hospital and then home with him 11/1, the day of the surgery, then I have to work 11/2 and then I'll be home for the weekend. He's in amazing shape (Maybe I should call him Mr. Muscles? LOL) is much and is more disciplined than I am. He will likely keep us both in line.

This is his second surgery in about 2 months (the other for something different) and he's in PT for his hips, so at this point we're pretty acclimated to the 'medical' stress and I'm no longer 'eating the world' as a Pavlovian response to any new 'doctor' news.

Lots of pixie dust and prayers and karma for you. I'm back in school myself (second Bachelors to be followed by a Masters) and I know all too well the rigors of "trying" to graduate. Chin up, it'll work out. :flower3:

Morning peeps. You guys were busy posting this morning while I was still sleeping. It took me 20 minutes here at work :lmao: to get caught up on your happenings.

Tara-congrats on the baby boy. Got 3 of them myself plus my grandchild is a boy.

Shannon-pixie dust to you. I remember well how anxious I was to finish up my masters and get the heck out of academia.

Melinda--can you tell me a little more about these fiber bars????

Has anyone heard from Misty regarding the smoke? My assistant here at work just emailed me and said they came home from DL yesterday because the smoke was bothering her too much (and we are used to lots of smog here). Hopefully it's not affecting the spongie family vacation.

My morning did not start off well. My two darling little dogs went out to do their potty business and found the low spot in a flower bed and decided to get all muddy. They came dashing back in through the doggy door and I now have mud tracked all over the tiles throughout the house. I was running late to get to work (so what else is new) and had to leave it. So tonight I will have to vacuum and mop the entire house. And worse, DH is going to be home before me so he's going to see it and probably wonder why didn't clean it up this morning (he thinks I get up a lot earlier than I actually do).

But some good news, I just got word that the closing date on our second DVC addon is mid-November. I'm going to have so many points now that I don't know what I'm going to do with them. Maybe I'll have to fly down for a peep meet!!!!

Oh my goodness... I just saw a picture of myself from this weekend. If I didn't know what I was wearing, I wouldn't recognize me -- in a GOOD way!

It's been about 6 months since I've seen a picture of myself -- what a difference 50+ lbs makes! I'm so excited and I want to turn this into more motivation! This pic will be going on my fridge right next to "THE PICTURE" (i.e. the picture that shocked the heck out of me and was part of the reason I got started on this journey).

So, thanks to everyone here! Your motivation, kind words, and "spit-out-the-diet-pepsi" stories have been invaluable! I don't have either of the photos electrontically, but I'll try to use my "ghetto scanner" (I think that's what Dance calls it) and put them up later...

:) MJ

Mornin -

I have to organize the 5th graders Halloween Party - what have I gotten myself into??? Yikes :scared1: The majority of the class has been together since Kindg - and no one "signs up" they just "show up" PTO has now declared, no homemade treats, and no art projects!! 5th graders people!!

No one will come to meetings, so I did a "virtual" meeting - only 2 people responded (out of 6) neither read the post!! 1 responded "I bought plates, napkins etc" um ok, and "thanks for that donation, I was going to send a letter home to ask for donations" another wanted to make gingerbread haunted houses... but no homemade treats - so she volunteered to do games! :yay: another mom saw me at school and said she'd send treats - found out she's planning on making pudding dirt cups - she is a teacher's aide at the school - I'm staying out of telling her how to bring the snack...

I need a nap..

and I'm telling you its so hard to stay out of the Halloween candy - I'm now dreaming of twix, snickers, mars bars... :sad2: and I want Chinese food again... I keep saying 950 calories, 950 calories...

shannon - no offense to your mom or anything, but isn't this supposed to be a trip to celebrate YOUR accomplishment? just sayin....:rolleyes1

That is so funny....that is what I was just thinking. :goodvibes
GMTA - and Shannon, no worries, you arent making it sound worse, it sounds like you are just venting, nothing more - :wizard: on that class!! (and I'm *gasp) thinking Jan will be my last WDW trip for 3 - 4 more years.... :faint: dh needs to climb a mountain, and I really would love to see Ireland before I'm too old!

Wooo Hooootie! You sexy skinny sista!

you can say that again!!

Don't we all cry on the way in (and the way out, but for a different reason)? And gotta love a Disney lovin' little guy:thumbsup2

You forgot Bobby Sherman

I'm dreamin food..... omg - I just remembered, a talk show I listen to has a "Sx talk Thursday" that is informative at times, hilarious mostly - they were talking about "dreams" :rolleyes1 that night out of the blue I had a romantic date with Sean P Diddy Combs!! :confused3 :rotfl2:

HAHAH..i totally loved NKOTB back in the day as well. Being from the Boston area "their hometown" we always had these crazy NKOTB events whenever they were intown. Have a great day everyone..

Is it a hard pattern? I've only mastered scarves - ok, so I wouldnt exactly call it mastered... and I bought those needles with plastic for some kind of continuous knitting for blankets - and I have no idea how it works.. I'd like to start knitting prayer shawls tho... I have so much yarn...

I'll help Sandy. What's on your agenda for the Halloween party?

I opened on bag of Halloween candy. Haven't touched it in 24 hours........and counting!
