Dawn, loved your legal brief story. When I was in the Air Force, my job was to do legal research for court martial defense. I once spent about a week in the law library doing research on animal sodomy. This was 30 years ago and yet the stuff I read is burned into my brain as if it were yesterday. I read a lot of fiction but that stuff was true and totally unbelievable.

i'm a court reporter and hear some CRAZY stuff! makes me appreciate having a boring life! some if it's sad, some of it's funny, some of it's stupid and some of it's just plan weird. the craziest thing i've ever sat through was a 2-day deposition of a woman who had knowingly slept (and i'm not using the word "slept" as in sharing a bed, but as in had relations) with her biological father while on vacation. :scared1:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF OUR OLDEST...NOT OLDEST....JUST BEEN AROUND THE LONGEST....OH, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN....MOUSEHOUSELOVER!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NONI!!!

DITTO FROM ME!!!!! hope you have a great day! :flower3: :dance3: :flower3:

DH made crab cakes! He's been wanting to try it since we returned from WDW, and he found a recipe where each one is 112 calories. They're small, but filling...and GOOD! :thumbsup2 And he made peach mango salsa to go with them! YUM! Not sure what dinner will be yet, but it WILL be good for me!

sounds so yummy!!!! did he get that idea from crab cakes at kona? or narcoosee's? or somewhere else?

Those crabcakes sounds terrific..i would love the recipe ...:rolleyes1

me, too!!!

I cut some cute long bangs on Norah (DD3) and then she shmeared a tube of NeoSporin alllll through her hair. It's like Vaseline! So it's been shampooed with DAWN a total of 11 times and it's a little better. :sad2: Maybe she'll be french braided for a few days? Or a hat? Geeez, Neosporin is HARD to remove from hair. GRRRR!
I laid down a quilt on the kitchen counter and made a towel pillow and we played "salon" which is our favorite game. 11 times of working DAWN gently through her hair. It removes oil from ducks.

 neosporin in hair does NOT sound fun! once when i was little i wanted my hair to look like micheal jackson's and so i put baby oil in it. you can imagine how much fun my mother had with that one!

Happy Birthday NONI!! Hope you had a great day!!

I want to see a picture of the new hair too UM! Neosporin and all. My aunt who doe shair told me once to use Prell shampoo to strip some really bad color I had done myself. Maybe it would work on neosporin too?

Off to catch up. I have skimmed the last page or 2 but I have been meaning to go back and actually read for a few days now.:rolleyes1

noni - i just realized you share a birthday with john mayer!!!!!!! he turns 30 today. and yes, i'm a TOTAL DORK for knowing that! :rotfl:

Happy Birthday Noni!!!!

You have the official peeps OK to eat a nice slab of cake!!!!

:bday: party: :cake: (Cap'n Jack!) pirate:

HI all..

I'm limited computer wise this week... only have the randomly shutting down laptop as I'm on local travel each day. SO this will have to be short to avoid a shutdown mid sentence.

Aaron-- Please add me to the challenge. I want (make that will) lose 8 lbs by Thanksgiving!!

Thanks!! Have a great week all. I'll check in but probably won't post much.

Yes, yes, and yes! This was like the crab cake trip! I swear we had crab cakes at Kona, at Narcoosee's, at Brown Derby... The first crab cakes (Kona) will be in the next part of my TR. I think DH just decided it was something he wanted to master. And he did! :thumbsup2 He says the recipe's in the kitchen, so I'll post it later, after we come back from agility.

Happy Birthday Noni!

All I can say about today is that it is almost over. At least I didn't eat bad, and although I didn't make it to the gym, I did take a 30 min walk.

Ka-plunk ! ...that's just me climbing back on the peep wagon. Hi peeps...let me reintroduce myself...My name is Kim and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I was posting a lot last winter but have turned into a bit of a lurker .

I would love to join the Thanksgiving challenge...Aaron, put me down for 5 pounds..I am cheating a bit because Canadian thanksgiving was last week. :confused3 oh well...I celebrate all holidays!

I am home full time and fill my day taking care of my DD 7 (Lauren) and DS5 (Matthew). I am very involved with our school and volunteer quite a lot.

OK...guess what I started 2 weeks ago ???? BALLET, I swear, no joke ! I have not danced in 25 years but I just started and I LOVE it. It is such a great work out. All the "girls" in my class are between 17-24...I am a tad bit older at almost 38 ! Hey, you are only as old as you feel right ??? :confused3 Anyways...my leotard and skirt would look a whole lot better if I was a teeny tiny bit smaller.

So...I am pulling up a chair and I will jump right in !:surfweb:

Wendy: I was sooo excited to see your new trip report...I love your writing style...I secretly believe that you are really Janet Evanovich.

Melinda: I love your new siggy picture ! I am a "glow cube" kinda girl too.

Linda: The pictures in you TR are amazing...you are really talented. I am also going to Disneyland for the first time. We are going to Arizona in Feb/March and I am surprising the kids with a side trip to "the land".

Punkin: I feel like I already know you...you seem super perky ! Your job must be so interesting. I bet you have heard just about everything :rolleyes1 .

Well...so nice to meet you all and I can't wait to get to know everyone a little better.

Kim

i LOVED both narcoosee's and kona's crab cakes. they were both different, but both so good! i'd love any recipe he has and also that salsa you were talking about!

welcome back!!!! and i think it's SO COOL that you're taking ballet! i wish they offered something around my area. i took all forms of dance growing up and i really do miss it a lot. it's so good for you and actually great therapy if you ask me!

have you guys seen the transformers movie? DH bought it today and he's watching it while i'm sitting here on the couch trying to proofread and i can't stop watching it! i usually don't get into movies like that but this one is pretty good! and it's causing me to not get any work done. on top of that shermie had a seizure a few minutes ago and so that took about 15 minutes to deal with. i'm not getting any work done.....i'm on page 9......of 102! :rolleyes1

That is so cool that you're doing that! I took a ballet class several years ago with a bunch of 14 to 18 year olds, just for the fun of it. I loved it but the instructor moved away. I found muscles I didn't know I had during those classes! Welcome back!

I remember you! Welcome back! Glad to have ya! :)

i LOVED both narcoosee's and kona's crab cakes. they were both different, but both so good! i'd love any recipe he has and also that salsa you were talking about!

I liked the crab cakes at both of those places too. They were very different, but both VERY good! Here's the link to the recipe for the crab cakes. DH just made the mango peach salsa - no recipe. He grated up 1 mango, 1 peach, and cored, seeded, and minced 1 jalepeno pepper, and mixed it all together. YUM!

Ok...awhile back, some of us posted our top 3 (or top 10 ;) ) "naughty" foods. In the spirit of our Thanksgiving challenge, I'd like to know what your top 3 "good for you foods" are. Snacks, breakfasts, lunches, dinners...whatever it is that is helping you stay on the wagon!

Mine are:
1. Diet soda (I really want to stop drinking it altogether but I just love it!)
2. 100 calorie pack anything (mostly grasshopper cookies and sun chips)
3. Laughing Cow light cheese wedges (I put it on everything!)

(ok, those aren't very good but I'm having a hard time thinking of my "food staples"...which is why I posted this question. I'm in a food rut.)

So let's hear 'em peeps! :goodvibes

3. 100 calorie snack packs for snacks during work. i can't take fruit or anything else with me in the courtroom so these are a staple!
2. durkee's citrus grilling spice......so good on chicken, shrimp, fish and pork!
1. water, water and more water. i know some of us hate it, but it's the key!

 neosporin in hair does NOT sound fun! once when i was little i wanted my hair to look like micheal jackson's and so i put baby oil in it. you can imagine how much fun my mother had with that one!

I had baby oil in my hair when I was in high school (like it wasn't oily enough already). My mom had inexplicably stored the baby oil in a Clean Rinse bottle. At least it wasn't before a big dance or anything. And boy was my hair nice and soft after.
UMama, good luck with Miss Norah's hair. And pictures would be lovely.

That's funny. I saw the ad today, and I thought, "Wasn't it Punkin's husband who won the Optimus Prime doll?" Oh, sorry, action figure.:rotfl:

Apples in the fall, oranges at Christmas time, and cherries in the summer. I know there's sugar in fruit, but I believe it's the sugar God meant us to have, with plenty of fiber and no fat. Yummy!

Top 5 foods that keep me on the wagon:
5) FF Pringles
4) 200 calorie or less frozen meals
3) HUGE salad with lunch, helps make #4 seem like enough food!
2) 100 calorie packs of cupcakes and ice cream
1) 94% FF popcorn... whole bag of Orville brand is 180 cals and satisfies my munchie craving
