DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

Dance - The outfit is adorable. I need to go check out that thread on the families board. Sounds like the motivation I need.

Melinda - Snakes! Yikes! I do think when I was in college I did actually handle one. As part of my biology degree I had to take this animals class. One of the labs they bring in all these live animals. I don't really care to handle many types of animals especially snakes or rodents. Gives me the willies!

Made my pedometer goal three days in a row! :cool1: So today I am adding a water goal to each day! Baby steps . . .

Hope everyone has a great day.

That is so cute! I wish I could sew, but I've tried countless times and it always ends with me throwing things and crying. :rotfl2:

Hi everybody! I have two pieces of good news:

First, I have been fairly good about the soda addiction - only one this week so far! Whoopee!

Second (and this is WAY BETTER!), my email was read aloud and answered on yesterday's (10/9/07) DIS Unplugged Podcast! I'm Beth from North Muskegon, Michigan, and I apparently asked a fantastic question. I'm so geeked for the t-shirt (yep, my life is lame enough that a t-shirt thrills me to no end!). Plus, I was so happy with the answers they gave. I love the podcast!

BUT I also have a big problem requiring the collective wisdome of The Peeps: I've mentioned before that I am now watching my nephew (18 months) in addition to my own two kids, DD (3 1/2) and DS (8 months). He's here about 50 hours a week. Since he's been here, my DD (who's been potty-trained for 6 months) has started peeing AND pooping her pants, clearly on purpose - I mean, she knows it's coming and is within speedy distance of a potty but doesn't use it. Also, she's always had a mild problem with stuttering (which I had evaluated; they told me she was well within normal for her age; we're supposed to re-evaluate in January), but the stammering has gotten worse since my nephew's been over.

WHAT do I DO? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Do I ignore it, punish it, take her to the Dr.?

Oh, wait - is this the Child Development and Psychology thread? :) Seriously, I'd love your help and advice. You are all wonderful.

Plus, if I'm losing any weight it's because of all of you. Who knew I'd ever come to rely on so many people I've never met (yet?)?

GOOD MORNING!

Hi ,Melinda .:goodvibes I am here just doing more lurking than posting.:confused3 Not feeling much like a skinny minnie.:guilty: Also most of my Dis time has been spent on the trip reports board where I am still working on my report and have subbed to way too many others.:goodvibes Thanks for noticing my absense though.

Congrats on being good with the soda addiction.:thumbsup2

I have had experience with the potty regression and stuttering. My DS12 had both problems when he was younger. He had potty accidents every time something stressful happened.Lots of things triggered it like new sibling, school changes or even DH being out of town. His last one was the first day of kindergarten when he got off the bus and stood in the driveway and pooped in his pants.:guilty: It was totally stress related and all we could do is be firm about it and if it started becoming a habit we would go to square one with potty training.Like using rewards for not having accidents.

The stuttering lasted until he was four. The Dr. said his brain worked faster than his mouth. We kept a close eye on it with the Dr.s help and it slowly went away over the years.

I don't know if any of this will help you and sorry its so long.

Ignore the crazy hair....she has some wild hair and was having too much fun twirling around for me to fix it. We have a great pumpkin patch here with a petting zoo and hayrides. We are headed there tomorrow I think. The weather is supposed to be about 85, but if they are wrong I can always put a shirt under this. This was my first adventure making a button hole and making something that buttons too :goodvibes
SOOOO CUTE!!!! You "done" good!

Wait, you're still alive after no soda? :scared: Whenever I attempt that, I turn very very cranky.

I would totally TOTALLY ignore the potty thing. I've made the mistake before with my kids and now I wish I would have ignored the attention seeking behavior. See, other than having her help you clean her up, don't say anything negative. THIS is the advice from a former foster mama. In fact add a few steps, like, a full bath after a poopy. Make it a chore to have to stop and clean her up.

50 hours? Sounds like one of my daycare kids. She's totally just part of the family now!

Wendy and Amy - Thanks for the encouraging words and advice. My gut says "ignore it - it's a subconscious attention thing" but my mind screams "WHY are you stinking up your pants all of the time???" I think my gut should have the chance to rule, for once!

And the soda thing: In the last three days I've had one. I'm still not perfectly over it. BUT I hate diet soda, so it's either cut it down or accept an extra 250-300 calories every day! Judging from the state of my weigh-ins I can't really do that.

By the way, Dance, ROCKIN' outfit! I so envy the sewers on this board. Maybe someday I'll have the chance to sew...for my grandkids! :0

Thanks again everybody...

That is so cute! I wish I could sew, but I've tried countless times and it always ends with me throwing things and crying. :rotfl2:

:lmao: you sound like me....i am SO not crafty!

that's so cool! i would be soooo super excited about that!!! yes, i'm a dork.

sorry.....no words of wisdom with the potty thing. i don't have any kiddies. only dogs. now if you wanna know how to crate train a dog, i'm your girl!

melinda - love the new user pic of the glowtini!!!

dance - very cute outfit!

if it doesn't start raining here soon.....and i mean hardcore raining.....they're going to start rationing our water and giving us times when we can shower/do laundry/wash dishes, etc. and i'm not kidding. my hair on a humid day without a shower......:scared1:

Punkie? What was your avatar previously? Tinkerbelle?

You threw me off. In a good way, though.

Oh! We're invited to a POLYNESIAN friend's house for dinner tonight!
They eat...a LOT. Oh I'm worried! I'm doomed!

Abish19 I can totally relate. my (now 7 year old) started daycare at the age of 3. He picked up a stutter right away. We just totally ignored it, acted like he was speaking just how he always did, and eventually it ran it's course. Maybe a year start to finish. It was definitley stress related. It made me feel HORRIBLE! He only went to that daycare for a month, (kindercare) before we found one we were alot happier with, but the stutter stayed for awhile. :guilty: Good luck on the diet soda..I've found that the more water I drink (seems like gallons sometimes) that I am not thirsty at all, and don't need soda. We used to drink ALOT of diet soda. What I miss is sweet tea. You just can't do "diet" sweet tea :sad2: ...so not the same. Dance: That outfit is so cute! My little girl is 15 and won't let me play dress up anymore. Teenagers are so difficult. Definitly enjoy them while their young, before they know everything.

Me either D... I can sew on a lost button and maybe a rip in a seam, and that is about the extent of it.

And we have the same drought issues here too. We are already on water restrictions, and it just keeps getting worse.

Hope that your polynesian dinner went well UM!

This weekend is the state fair here... my coworkers want to go over tomorrow at lunch and graze, as the Thurs before the fair starts they let people in to eat with no admission costs. I want to be strong and go to the gym and eat my frozen meal, but I also want to do the fair. And I know if I go there will be no diet food there! Man, every time I get back on track, temptation hits my path...

You threw me off. In a good way, though.

yeah, it was tink. i went to the site melinda posted yesterday and found that neato walt/mickey one and changed it. thanks, melinda!

we're on a total water ban meaning no watering your yard or washing your car. the fine is something like $500. all the car washes in town are closed. it's kinda scary!

i hope all the peeps that had food temptations today were strong! if not....we'll forgive you! ;) i'm saving my cheat day this week for saturday. my sister and her boyfriend are coming over for dinner and ray's making stuffed shrimp with cous cous, bacon scallion potatoes and a salad. oh, and he's making spinach dip for an appetizer. i'm weak when it comes to his cooking!!! :scared:

ray and i just watched a show about an obesity clinic called brookhaven. my heart just breaks for those people. however i don't understand how you can be faced with death and be put on a ventilator, given all the tools you need to lose the weight, and still sneak in take-out food at night. it just boggles my mind. but i guess that's why it's called an addiction.

Punkin---I'll bring you a gallon or two of water if I can come have that dinner on Saturday. Sounds totally delicious and definitely 800% more interesting than anything I might be having. :flower3:

Moo checking in. I have been seriously off the wagon, especially since vacation, and we have been very busy with the new Corgi/Yorkie puppies this week (Sukie and Jasper). We have them on a one week trial and hopefully we can finalize their adoption on Saturday now that my hubby agrees we can keep both of them :yay: We had put in an adoption request pre-Disney and the original female we inquired about was already adopted but her sister was still available.

Dance, sorry I missed meeting you at WDW. I made it over to Ohana later than I would have liked so I missed the group photo. Your daughter's outfit is adorable! I am also sad to have missed meeting Lynda, but it was very nice to have met a few Peeps! I never got any photos of or with Melinda, despite running into her and her sweet kids several times, but here are a few photos that I took:

Hi all. I'm a day behind, but wanted to post before I go to bed.
Danielle.... :scared: Why'd it have to be rats? I hate rats! I'll bet they're not cute Remy and Emile rats either. Hopefully the exterminator did his job. How's your brother?
Now we're thinking it may be squirrels. I'm hoping. I'm sure they are about as dirty as rats, but at least they are cute. They are still trampling around inside the ceiling.
I talked to DB today, and he is recuperating at home. They did have to shock his heart to get it back into rhythm. Prayers that it stays that way, please. And thanks for all the prayers and love from everyone.

I Got My Meds!!! :cool1:

I had DH pick up the meds yesterday, since he was out early yesterday. Took one last night and one this morning to get them back in my system. Thank-you for pushing me yesterday and stating the obvious. It's amazing how fast your thyroid goes back when you aren't taking the meds. But, now I am!!
:thumbsup2 Glad to hear it.

Hey Peeps! I am back from my trip. :sad1: We got home Sunday evening. I'm back at work. Doesn't reality just suck sometimes? Anywho, we had a great time, met a LOT of DISers, and we are worn out.
Welcome back!

party: party::banana::jumping1: To Utahmama the best thread ever!!! yeah 20,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jumping1::banana::party: party:

Wooooo Hoootie! WTG, Aries.

Good night all. I'm fighting off a cold. I've had kids coughing and sneezing on me everyday this week, and now my throat and head hurt. I started taking zinc tonight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, drinking buckets of water, and going to bed now.

Have a thrilling Thursday!

Hi, Melinda & everyone! I'm here too - just busy. Keeping up with all of you but don't have much too add. Still exercising and eating ok - no pounds lost but another inch or so when we measured last week.

Nancy (AnnNan)

GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY! :sunny:

It's finally turned seasonably cold here in KY! It was 90 on Monday and then I turned off the a/c a couple of days ago. This morning it's chilly in the house and 47 outside. High today....61! Get out the long sleeves!

Punkin
....Thanks for noticing my siggie picture. I thought the kids had had enough time there...my turn. I love your avatar! Isn't that site fun?! Praying for rain in GA! :scared:

Nancy!
Thanks for checking in and setting a good example. Another inch! YAY! :cheer2:

Abish....I think majic is onto something....just drinks lots of water and the craving for that cold, bubbly drink will disappear! Congrats on the podcast! Now I've gotta go back and listen. What was the question (and answer)!

Majic....What is that in your avatar? It looks really cool!

Moo....Your poopies are adorable! Thanks for posting all the pictures! I like pictures better if I'm not in them! ;)

AMY....Thanks for checking in! I'm trying to get caught up on your trip report! I got behind with all my preparation/trip. I went over and scrolled the pictures yesterday. You got lots of good ones and you're actually in some of them this time! Hello to Harley!

PamRob....Yay on the pedometer! Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

HAVE A GOOD DAY, EVERYONE!

Look what I made:

Such a cute outfit (and an adorable daughter)! I so wish I could sew!! (Maybe then I could alter the beautiful navy suit that is too big, but I still love)...

sorry.....no words of wisdom with the potty thing. i don't have any kiddies. only dogs. now if you wanna know how to crate train a dog, i'm your girl!

Same here. No kids and I don't profess to understand them! Now puppies... puppies I can handle.

if it doesn't start raining here soon.....and i mean hardcore raining.....they're going to start rationing our water and giving us times when we can shower/do laundry/wash dishes, etc. and i'm not kidding. my hair on a humid day without a shower......:scared1:

It's been quite dry here too; not nearly as bad as you all have had it, but we have had a no watering the lawn edict all summer in the town. A few years ago we had a bad drought and all of the car washes switched over to a water recycling plan so that they could stay in business -- most stayed on it, makes me feel a bit better that I'm not wasting the water.

It did rain some the past two nights, but really only enough to green up the grass, not actually raise the water table.

I'll pray for some rain down south!

i hope all the peeps that had food temptations today were strong! if not....we'll forgive you! ;) i'm saving my cheat day this week for saturday. my sister and her boyfriend are coming over for dinner and ray's making stuffed shrimp with cous cous, bacon scallion potatoes and a salad. oh, and he's making spinach dip for an appetizer. i'm weak when it comes to his cooking!!! :scared:

You are one lucky woman -- a hubby that can cook!! That dinner sounds absolutely delish and completely irresistable!

I did manage to resist most temptation yesterday. We had a wedding shower for two of my coworkers that are getting married next weekend. One of the other coworkers tends to go a bit overboard on these things and got pit beef and turkey and wings and breads and chips and dips and .... you get the picture. I was such a good peep! I had a pit-turkey sandwich with a little bbq sauce, a small dollop of taco dip with two chips (god I love that stuff... had to have some), and a big ole pile of raw veggies. Didn't really have time for dessert, but I did manage to snag a strawberry with some ff white chocolate fluff dip. What I didn't have -- the cake, brownies, cookies, rice krispie treats, peanut butter cup bars, dirt dessert, or seconds!! I had a proud moment!!

Now this weekend will be another story. I'm headed to the beach with my family. Much munching and noshing will commence. I am going to try to stick to my vacation food plan as much as possible, but I know that La Haciendas Nachos are calling my name!!

They are so adorable!! I hope you get to keep them both!!! If they are Corgi/Yorkie mixes, would that make them Corkies or Yorgies??

Now we're thinking it may be squirrels. I'm hoping. I'm sure they are about as dirty as rats, but at least they are cute. They are still trampling around inside the ceiling.

:scared:

We had a squirrel infestation in my dorm in college. I'd be sitting at my desk working in the evening and something would run across the drop ceiling and shake the tiles so badly that we were afraid that they'd pop out of the frame. Then late at night I'd hear a deep chattering/growling over my bed (turns out that's were one (yes, I said one) of the nests (yes, that was plural was located). Now I grew up in the country and we had a drop ceiling in the basement. I had heard mice scurry across the ceiling. I knew what that sounded like. This was not a mouse.

Everyone on my floor had heard them and it was getting worse by the day. Maintenance kept telling us that there wasn't any "evidence" of mice and wouldn't believe that we had a problem (we were hysterical women you know), but finally agreed to put traps above each of the rooms. I heard one of the guys mutter -- "It's probably one *dang* little mouse -- ain't gonna shake no tiles"). Well they came back the next day and all 19 traps had "something" in them. Mostly they caught squirrels, but there were a few mice and "other things." I didn't want to know.

Now here's where the story takes another "logical" turn. Since they got something in every trap, our brilliant maintenance guys deduced that they must have gotten all of the rodents. I asked them what if there were :scared1: more than 19 creatures living up there -- you should have seen the looks on their faces: utter frustration with this danged logical female who wanted to make them do work. One guy did try to argue with me -- said we'd see evidence up there if there were more. I tactfully mentioned that since they hadn't "seen" evidence of the original 19, I wasn't buying that argument. They caught an undisclosed number of additional rodents. I didn't want to know.

The next fall they brought traps earlier and got a head start on the problem. Never did convince them that maybe it would be a good idea to figure out where they were getting in and stop them. :rotfl:

On another note: Was chatting with a coworker that I don't get to see very often at the shower yesterday. He works in another building across the compound. Apparently they got the suprise of their lives last week when a FOX fell through their ceiling into the office one afternoon. He was hunting the "large" mice -- don't want to use the real term -- that they have been trying to get rid of for months. UGGGHHHHH....

Anyhoo, off to do another good days work.

Have a good day ya'll!

That dinner sounds wonderful...GO RAY! :thumbsup2 Greg made a yummy dinner last night, a family recipe..and pretty healthy too..its a Greek soup ( not that he is greek) and its called Egg-Lemon with rice..soo flippen good..terrific comfort food. Men that cook make me happy

Have a great day everyone!

And I'm sad I missed you too! I wish I would have planned that better. :( Well, hopefully we'll have the chance again someday!
