DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

Hello everybody!

Kat, I'm not doing so well this weekend, either, with food OR exercise. I think tomorrow will be better on both fronts. Tink, SO glad you found a place for your WHOLE family! Keep us posted!

I have a big question. First I tried Googling it (is that even a word?), but after coming up with totally irrelevant responses I thought, "Go to the Dis!"

My DD is 3 years old (she'll be 3 1/2 in Nov.) but wears size 5 or 6 depending on the brand and garment. She's not unhealthy, has never been sick (1 or 2 colds, stomach flu once), and is in the 105% for height and 95% for weight. I'm just wondering: Should I be concerned that she's so big for her age? I was shopping the clearance sales for her for our Feb. WDW trip, trying to make sure I have spring/summer seasonal clothes (to make up in the difference in temp. and weather) that will fit her when we go, and I just hope SO MUCH that she slows down in growing! Not just because I don't want to buy more clothes (it's really depressing that I had to miss out on a lot of cutie patootie 3T, 4T clothes - I had to buy them, but by the next season she'd grown another size), but also that clothes look so much more MATURE than she really IS once you get into the 7, 8 size range. She must be having a spurt because she wore a 4T top and overalls to the hospital when my 7-month old DS was born.

Maybe I'm overly concerned because I recently saw a program about the World's Tallest Woman...she just kept growing b/c her pituitary gland didn't tell her body to stop. Let's hope it doesn't get that bad! PLEASE send along some reassurance.

Sometime I'll try to figure out how to post a picture so you can see my sweet kids. (Also, they're asleep, hence the "sweet" adjective!)

Abish, You really should ask the pediatrician, but here's something I've heard. Children who drink a lot of milk from cows that have been given extra hormones (or eat a lot of meat) have accelerated development. The brand of milk I buy has a label that says the cows from that dairy are not given hormones. You might also ask your family if you or your husband were tall early. That's all I can think of. Probably it's nothing, but it's good to be vigilant.

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING, PEEPS! :sunny:

Another gorgeous day is dawning here in the Bluegrass State! It was really quiet here yesterday so I guess everyone else had the same beautiful weather we did.

Abish....Like Danielle said, talk to your pediatrician about your daughter. But I wouldn't worry too much. My kids were always in the 90% for the ages and always wore a size or two bigger than their ages and they are just average size girls now that they are full grown. Sounds like she's just a big healthy girl.

FRAN! We miss you too!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!

Abish, I agree with Danielle - there has been a lot of attention given to obese children, but at her age and her height and weight seem to be just spurting - do find out about your dh's growth - some of it is heridity - so do ask your peditrician (maybe at the babies next check up? ask the nurse her opinion)

I also bought the more expensive hormone free milk for dd - ours was Oberweiss Dairy in glass bottles... now she barely drinks milk (at ten) but I give her tums (calcium)

Its what moms do worry - I'm thinking its just part of her early growth - dd is usually the tallest in the class - but then so was I!

Good Morning!

I really need to catch up, but don't have time now, so i just wanted to "pop" in and say HI!!!!

It's been beautiful :sunny: here in Buffalo, so I want to enjoy the day a little today. I'll be gardening after church. That is my plan!:thumbsup2

Made a HUGE crockpot of chili for after church and will be feeding DD, SIL, GS and hopefully DS and 2 or 3 of his friends from school. They sang at a local church last night and today and he needs to stop home for a few things. It' always good to see him!

I'm off to get ready for church! HAPP DAY!!! :goodvibes

Sandy :wave2:

You got lost online?

I would say "We can't let you outta the house" but apparently, we can't trust you IN the house either!

have you tried horizon organic milk? that's what we use and i think it actually tastes better than any other milk i've tried. if i have kids (especially girls), i'm going to go as organic as i possibly can.....no getting AF at 9 years old for me!!! thanks. ;)

it's actually not hot out today!!! so weird. i went outside and there was a nice breeze blowing. :cloud9: i hope it stays this way through next week since we'll be in savannah a/k/a the hottest place in georgia next weekend! it'll probably go back to 100 degrees by that time!

I've cleaned out my pantry today. I mean BUSINESS. Threw out all the bad stuff (NONE of my family needs to eat junk).

I'm drinking water, and NOT complaining in the least. I'm thrilled to have such good ice water.

I want to add this very weird observation about myself. I am at the weight (with a 2) that I ache!!!!! I KNOW if I lose just 5 pounds, my feet will NOT hurt when I wake up. I know that in 15-20 pounds my endless lower back pain will greatly be reduced- I have mild scoliosis which even effects my hips and knees. My hip pain has been so bad that I grit my teeth, or hold my breath ( a little). I live on over the counter pain relievers. I KNOW for that reason alone, I need to get some more weight off. When I think of all the reasons I want to lose weight, they're usually stuff like looking good for the peep meet (even THAT didn't work!). Wanting to LOOK good is usually the main reason. Hmmm, really, more importantly, feeling good should be my focus. This is a journey!

Good for you! I'm so proud! :goodvibes You are right that none of the family needs those unhealthy choices lurking in your kitchen. I think one of the best things I have done is clean out all the bad stuff and fill the kitchen with healthy choices. :thumbsup2 Way to go on the water too! And realizing that this will make you FEEL better is a great thing too. One of the big motivators for me is how this change will change my health and ability to do things. Of course, looking good is nice too. ;) Just wanted to tell you good for you!

Another gorgeous day is dawning here in the Bluegrass State! It was really quiet here yesterday so I guess everyone else had the same beautiful weather we did. [/B]

Actually, I worked on wedding pictures all day! My friend came over to hang out and watch while I worked on her pictures. We watched some What Not To Wear. Then we watched The Holiday and Catch and Release. Both were SO GOOD! I can't believe I hadn't seen them yet, what with us having the ultimate DVD collection. (DH and I own over 600 DVDs. We have friends and family using us as a free video rental service. ) I got a lot of work done on the pictures, but still have a long way to go. I have to get done before we leave for Disney because both my friend and my mom want me to help them do Shutterfly photo books that they have free coupons for, and they expire at the end of September! Anywho, I am hoping to get out today and enjoy the lovely weather. We are going to the mall, a movie and dinner with both of our moms. We'll have to take the convertible! :)

I've been busy with work and stuff, I've stayed fairly current with all the happenings around here though.

I had a really good laugh the other night. DH took me to dinner at a Brazillian grill. (Yummy) It is located in an L shaped shopping center that has a Bravos (Italian rest) the Brazillian place and a pub in the short leg and just around the bend in the long side is a Jenny Craig! I don't know what's worse, the fact that the moment the dieters pull into the lot they are bombarded with foods that are not diet compatable or that you see a weight loss center when you walk out feeling like you are going to explode from over eating. I actually did really good, I stopped eating when I felt just a little full so I wasn't stuffed and sick all night.

DH bought me a fire bowl today!! I've wanted one for a while and he decided that he wanted to get some of the yard work and landscaping done since it is so nice outside. He let me get some tulip bulbs too. :goodvibes We're grilling out later so we'll be spending plenty of time in the yard today.

That was my thought as well with the organic milk - oberweiss dairy is organic, hormone free certified!! :thumbsup2 (before dd as I was working with Kind. on a field trip I noticed a few girls that needed a bra! :scared1: )

Lynda I tried to reply to your updated trip report - but I got kicked off the internet for some reason!!

Melinda HEY, I resemble that remark!!

I totally love those yummy Lean Cuisine and Kashi meals. I like to add a small and guiltless salad to the Lean Cuisine meals but I'm stuffed from the Kashi meals just by themselves. Interesting, huh?

That's a tad bit scary! :scared1: Although, my kids will just have to eat what I do. No organic for me..I can't afford it!!

Hi all. I just went to see my mom at the convalescent hospital and "spring" her for a couple of hours. I was going to take her to church, but the dr.'s permission didn't come through on time, so we went to a service right there at the hospital. At first it was really depressing, as so many of the residents are out of it, but then I thought, gosh, some of them will be at the real feast soon, with their heavenly bodies (no worries about calories). It was a very comforting thought to me, as I sometimes get very afraid of old age when I am at the hospital.
Afterwards I took mom to Applebee's, and I had the lime grilled tilapia (320 calories on the WW menu) and then we drove into Saratoga, a really pretty and ritzy area. We talked about how money doesn't buy happiness, and we both feel fortunate to have more than enough to meet our basic needs. Seeing my mom's positive attitude despite her troubles was very uplifting as well. The only thing was I came home hungry. I just had a yogurt and some light ginger cookies.
Hope everyone's having a beautiful and skinny weekend.
