Here are the dates I'm considering:

Fri Dec7 - Sun Dec 9

Fri Dec 14 - Sun Dec 16

If you have any opinions on any of these days, let me know! Thanks Peeps! I'm off to jump in the shower. Our washing machine broke last night so mom and I are on a hunt for a new one.

:cutie:[/QUOTE]

If it makes a difference in your plans Pop Warner is there 12/2-12/8. But it may not effect you depending on where you stay.

we're back from savannah!!! we had a good time......relaxing. which is what i needed. oh, and we're both sick. nice, huh? go on vacation perfectly healthy.....come home sick with snotty nose and dry throat and watery eyes. fun way to start the week! :headache: when i get a chance, i'm gonna do a mini TR from the weekend over on my september TR if anyone's interested. the paula deen food pics will be there. i'll let you guys know when i post them!

 to everyone who needs them. i know i saw some family issues, business concerns, etc. eeyore - i know i saw something about dramamine. is your DD old enough to take it? i get the non-drowsy kind and it doesn't make me groggy AT ALL.

Naked high school musical?? popcorn::

:lmao: my thoughts exactly!

IBB...Don't watch it, never have, never will. Seems so contrived to me. :sad2:

BB and justin timberlake are my guilty pleasures. as in i know they're bad for me.....but i just can't help it! better than twinkies!!!

Next time celebrate with strippers (how appropriate for the workplace!)

sounds like a plan to me! :rotfl:

Hey Peeps,

I've come to an epiphany. I want to be a peep again.

WELCOME BACK!!! not that you ever left, but you know what i mean. and i wish i could work out in the mornings. it gives you such a boost and you're set for the day!

Is it even possible to lose weight?

yes, it is!!! you've just gotta get your mind in the right place...it is possible! you sound like you're on the right track with the walking. do you count your calories or anything? that and water is what worked for me!

THEN just now, I ate a BAG OF CHEETOS!!!!! :scared:

okay.....i don't have any words of wisdom for your weak cheeto moment other than this.... HOWEVER, i do have a hysterical cheeto story. about a week before my wedding i had a dream that i had put my mother in charge of getting the food for the reception. well, she FORGOT about it, so i gave her some money right before the wedding and she went to the local gas station and bought a bunch of cheetos. at the reception my beautiful white wedding dress was covered in bright orange cheeto fingerprints!!!! HOW HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

So got some good and bad news........

Good news is I still be going to Peep Meet

Bad News is I'm not so sure about the shirts...

no worries.....you're a sweetie for wanting to do it in the first place!

about the lime green shirts - is just regular green okay? i don't have any lime green and i CANNOT spend any more money for this trip seeing as i have SO MUCH stuff coming up through the end of the year. money's gonna be tight!

I told you all about my nephew who is going to be on Mad TV, right? Here's a link to a commercial he made for a tooth whitener that sells in the UK. http://www.safeandwhite.com/page/commercial/
He's the one with the glowing teeth:teeth:

your nephew reminds me of jim carey! i can see he's a great comedic actor.....can't wait to see him on the show!

Okay, so sorry to post so huge but I must share: Me and Rob found an apartment where we can have the dog! And we love it and they love us and we signed our lease yesterday!!!!!!

And I have a question for you folks-- I know that a bunch of you have gone to WDW in May... Wonders, Punkin, Lynda... but any been there Memorial Day weekend? I am tentatively saying I want to go Thurs-Mon of Memorial Day weekend since humidity wouldn't be as bad as summer and I wouldn't waste my entire balloon check on WDW like I did last year... looking at Port Orlean French Quarter... stoked about the Flower and Garden Festival... maybe booking a Wishes Cruise if I can find some DISers who would also like to split it... possibly going for Deluxe Dining to make up for some of the DDP loses this year... Anyways as you can see I am just starting the trip planning process but wanted opinions on crowds since it is a holiday weekend. ?? ??

:yay: i'm so happy you found a place! what a relief!

about memorial day, we went in early may so i can't help you from firsthand experience. but my sister and her boyfriend went memorial day weekend this year and the only thing she complained about was MK on that monday (memorial day). of course she's not a DISer and she didn't follow my recommendations to a T, so that's her fault!

Good morning everyone!:goodvibes Anyone remember me-I haven't been around much and am feeling it.

hi, amy! :)

Sorry if you've seen this already. I'm posting this on all my regular threads:

  Guess what!!!!!!!

I just applied to be on an official MOM's Panel for Disney!!!!!!

It involves a FREE trip for 4 (ooops).

Here's the link if you'd want to also try out:

http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.com/about.aspx

But now i'm nervous cuz we are a family of 6! Eh, I wrote 3- 100 word essays that rocked so I hope I at least get considered!
That sounds really cool!:thumbsup2 I may have to do it too.

we're back from savannah!!! we had a good time......relaxing. which is what i needed. oh, and we're both sick. nice, huh? go on vacation perfectly healthy.....come home sick with snotty nose and dry throat and watery eyes. fun way to start the week! :headache: when i get a chance, i'm gonna do a mini TR from the weekend over on my september TR if anyone's interested. the paula deen food pics will be there. i'll let you guys know when i post them!

hi, amy! :)
I hope you both get to feeling better soon!

Dawn-I don't have lime green either so you won't be the only one. I'm not able to spend another dime either..esp. on a shirt I will wear once. So hope no one minds another non-matching shirt in the pic!

This is LONG and slightly off-topic, but semi-on-topic b/c I have to deal with it when I go for a walk.

Okay... so I need some advice (and maybe a reality check) from the moms and suburb dwellers out there. I'll preface this with some insight into the first 24 years of my life -- I lived on 24 acres in the middle of no where. Our closest neighbors were 2 corn fields away and were my grandparents and aunt/uncle/cousin. Other than the fact that my aunt is a bit nosy and the nearby summer camp/working ranch couldn't seem to keep track of it's livestock, we didn't have neighbor problems.

So fast forward a few years and I live on a cul-de-sac, in a townhouse, with neighbors -- 36 of them to be exact (this translates to approximately 72 vehicles on a .15 mile road -- not including visitors). Most people are quiet, working adults who keep to themselves or at least keep to their own yards/porches -- I really like those neighbors. There are also a few families with children who watch after their children and expect their children to be responsible and respectful -- for safety reasons they also do not allow their children to ride bikes on the road during prime time for people returning from work and are outside actively watching said children when they are riding bikes, scooters, etc -- I really like these neighbors too (and their kids are great).

Then there are the four families who allow their children to use the street as a playground and provide little to no supervision. These children range in age from four (I'm guessing here and he may be younger) to 11ish. None seem to have the ability to look before crossing the street nor are they at all aware of moving vehicles.

I am terrified that I or someone else will accidentally injure one of these children backing out of our garages or driveways.

They ride their bikes into everyone's driveway (driveways are on a incline -- start at the top and you can get some real speed right down into the road -- actually looks like a lot of fun to me and would be great if they had permission from the person who's drive way they were using and an adult to act as a safety spotter), draw with chalk on everyones driveway (and in the travel lane of the road, right where cars turn-in -- hidden by bushes), Play in and around the storm water management pond (while there is water in it -- danger, danger), and leave their bikes all over the neighborhood (almost hit one in front of my house yesterday). All while the mothers stand and gab and pay no attention or are inside paying no attention.

Moreover walking down my street has become like walking the gauntlet of childrens hands. My dog is not all that child friendly. She loves kids that have dog manners and know how to approach a dog, but is not a fan of people of any age who just expect to pet her at a moments notice. I am working on that with her (and on training the kids -- and dads -- on the street).

I believe that we all have a responsibility to watch out for kids and I am super careful when I drive through the neighborhood, but not everyone is. Plus I also believe that parents have a responsibility to set limits for their kids (and keep them out of the road).

How do I approach these parents (and should I) -- without alienating them or coming off as the "witchy, child hating neighbor," but still make the point that these kids are out of control and affecting the lives of their neighbors?

I love that there are kids in the neighborhood. I actually like the sounds of happy kids playing outside. I just don't want them in my yard or driveway (liability reasons and the fact that I don't want the permanent marker on siding problem that another neighbor had) or to get hurt b/c they don't understand the danger posed by vehicles.

Thanks for letting me rant...

What do you think is appropriate in a community such as mine? Would you let your kids out to roam the neighborhood? Am I being too nit-picky? Am I being too "protective" of my property?

This is LONG and slightly off-topic, but semi-on-topic b/c I have to deal with it when I go for a walk.

first off, i don't think you're being ridiculous AT ALL!!! i'm the peacemaker type and try not to confront people unnecessarily, but i didn't hesitate to call the police on my across-the-street neighbor whose teenage son was playing music loudly after midnight and making out with his girlfriend on the hood of his car. they had been asked nicely a few times and it was ridiculous.

anyway, with that said, do you have some sort of homeowner's association? if so, maybe they could either send a letter for you or give you some advice on addressing the concerns. i'm the secretary of my HOA and i'll warn you that this type of thing may not be high on their priority list, but as long as you just ask for their opinion and direction, i'm sure they'd be happy to at least help you.

if you don't have an HOA, i'd approach the one mother you feel most comfortable with. i think if you approach them as a group they'll gang up on you. just tell her you're concerned for her child's safety. i would think that would be enough for a parent to hear if they're concerned about their kid!

and as far as them being on your property.....you have the right to tell them to get off. and i'm sure you can be nice about it. it's crazy to think that any of their parents would take offense to that. my husband goes out in the yard all the time and yells at kids for being on our property. i'm sure he's known as the grouchy man on the corner, but he doesn't care. i'm sure if you do it in a nice way, there won't be a problem. you have nothing to feel bad about. ;)

well after being gone for a while I have successfully gained all and then some...I am now a tad over my start weight...i am joining the band wagon again...start back at the gym tomorrow and start working on my 5K plan so i can handle the hike in Jan....

i could use some pixie dust - lots on my mind and in my heart that i just cant talk about so just lift me up if ya dont mind...tnks peeps:hug:

MJMouse-I don't have any better advice then Punkin but I wanted to add that if one of those children gets hurt on your property I bet you would be liable in court. That is enough to scare me!! I hate families that think it's not their responsibility to raise their kids...they want to sit back and let other people. Or, they just don't care..which is worse! Being a nanny, and working for these types of "moms" for a decade it just lights my fuse!!! If these moms are "clicky" then I am afraid that no matter what you do the gossip train with start. Even though you are looking out for your family/pets and THEIR kids they won't see it that way. But you have to bring attention to what is going on. I know that is not the most positive advice but I believe in telling it like it is...I hate people that sugar coat everything to avoid being honest. Not me! But no matter what, I think you are in the right and need to act. (Stepping off soap box now!)

Look at the smiley I found just for you:

We're lifting you up; right into the wagon. Glad to hear from you, and hope things get better soon.

nah it will be a perfect picture!! all y'all will be in it!! :goodvibes (and I'm feeling oh so horrible about all the things I've yet to purchase! all that money I cant spend in Disney!! )

MJ - first off - I wish you were around here - we have a radio show of "girlfriends' and they do this special thing called... "GET OFF MY LAWN!!

Can you cap a few pictures of the unattended kids? I also love the suggestion of the Homeowners association - but do document - then if there is no recourse of HOA - what about asking the local police - not 911, but going down and asking about safety and do you have a Stranger Danger officer? ( a community laison) ask for a meeting with that officer, show yoru pics and ask what you can do - your post definately has merit - safety is HUGE!! I'm not saying get the police involved, but to ask for their suggestions - from the safety perspective!!

and I will say when we lived next to the culdesac in a townhome, . ds used the neighbors driveway to teach himself to ride a bike!! Yet, we didnt do it during prime time (more around ten ish and 3 ish - but I feel guilty now - back then I never even thought if there were any neighbors that might have a problem with my parenting style (I would watch from the kitchen doors - sliding glass - he was too proud to ask for help - and I was so proud watching him do it "all by myself"!!)

Hey everyone,

Well I'm ready to jump back on the wagon tomorrow. I've made my lunch (a yummy turkey sandwich) and have healthy snacks to get me through work and then class.

Speaking of work, I only have a 4 day work week this week. My internship office is closed on Thursday for Rosh Hashanah (sp?). I could use that day to get lots of stuff done that I never get done on the weekend. Yay!

And a slight vent about school. I'm still in need of a site for my adult externship. I took the initiative and called a hospital very close to my house and they are more than willing to take me, talked to the coordinator at my school and everything looks good - my school just needs to get a contract with them which is easy supposedly. Well the coordinator was on vacation for 2 weeks and told me to get in touch with her after Labor Day to see how everything was going. So I emailed her on Thursday and asked about the contract being made and just reminding her who I am (to say she is scatterbrained is a huge understatement), etc. Her reply was pretty much as follows:

"It looks good. Don't worry - that's my job. And I don't need a partner."

Now, I read that in a snotty tone and I didn't really appreciate it. Especially since she wasn't doing her job and pretty much everyone that deals with her will tell you a horror story. She had 2 months to find me a site and didn't. And it wasn't until I came to her with a site placement that she finally did some work for me. I am not supposed to do any of it...just meet with her and tell her what areas I like and where I live. So I am worrying. Because it is September and I should have had my placement set in stone back in June/July. :confused3

Anyway, just venting about that because she is really getting on my nerves. And now that she sent me that lovely email response, I don't want to call/email her at all for fear of an even meaner tone. Ridiculous. :sad2:

Hope you all have a great week! Eat smart! :cutie:

Oh and another thing...does anyone else get super happy looking at all of the fall decorations in the stores now?

I am just besides myself with glee with all the fun halloween and fall stuff out there. My mom's poor house isn't big enough for all the stuff I want. I have already declared Saturday a "Cleaning and Decorating Day". All of the fall decor is coming out, and I am so excited about it, it is pathetic. Then the following weekend, I'm doing the outdoor decor...I have a graveyard and some lawn stakes and other fun scary stuff.

Did I mention I love fall? :rolleyes1

Im the same way!!! Cant wait for apple picking and pumpkin picking... what till you see the new layout kit i created and will be up for sale like the pirate one.... Ill post pic soon

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

It's a very important week......it's Wendy's birthday week! :dance3:

Punkin
....Glad you had a good time in Savannah but sorry you're sickly. Go get some zinc!!! I like Cold-Eez! You'll feel better in no time.

Harley....Glad you're back but sorry you're down. I'm a-liftin'!

MJ
....I'd talk to the kids first and then the moms. Tell the kids you'll tell the moms if they don't quit. Some kids still have some shame about being called down by an adult. (I'm always telling other people's kids what to do here in the neighborhood!) If you don't get results, approach the parents.

Shannon....Sorry about the mean lady. She got busted not doing her job so I guess she was embarrassed.

FALL....I love fall but it always means that winter is on the way and I HATE winter! It's just gray and nasty here for about 4 months. I always get a little down in the winter.

Wendy! Thanks! I applied too to be a Disney advisor!

EVERYBODY HAVE A GOOD DAY!

We had a similar sitauation here recently. The kids were even pulling their basketball hoops into the road so they could use the street as their 'court'. It was getting out of control. Our HOA handled it finally....but before that one of the concerned neghbors went door to door passing out fliers. I actually really appreciated that they took the time becaue it made me so nervous to drive through my own street.

And yes, if they are 'clicky' then they will talk... but if you approach it right and in the right way you may only have to talk to one of them. (the one you feel most comfortable talking to maybe) Then I bet she would pass along the concerns to the others and it may not be as bad. And truthfully, at this point it is about your property and your pet being safe not just the kids. So if I made some neighbors mad then I guess I would take that chance.

i could use some pixie dust - lots on my mind and in my heart that i just cant talk about so just lift me up if ya dont mind...tnks peeps:hug:
:wizard: :flower3: I hope things ease up for you soon!

Oh and another thing...does anyone else get super happy looking at all of the fall decorations in the stores now?
YES! I love fall, even though we dont get too much of it here. But I have tons of fall and winter decorations I love to put up so it is my favorite time of year regardless of where I live. And we are even getting a cold front this week.....its only going to be in the MID 80's!:rotfl:

thanks! i'm actually taking mucinex D and it's working pretty well to just break up whatever it is that's in my head. does anyone know where we store so much snot? (TMI......sorry!)

i hate winter, too. i don't enjoy being in PAIN while pumping gas because it's so cold. and i live in GEORGIA! i couldn't live up north....i wouldn't set foot outside from like november through march! DH loves winter but i prefer spring and summer.......okay, summer when it's not 100 degrees!

about BB - it's so funny to me how when things are going their way, danielle and dick are so nice to everyone and easy going. but once they're nominated, all they do is whine and roll their eyes and become 5-year-olds. you can definitely tell they're related! they're so mad about zach breaking their final three deal, but they had a final three deal with both zach AND jameka, so they would've done the same thing to one of them! GRRRRRRRRRR........i hate them. i'm pulling for jameka, but i'm not holding my breath.....i've read some spoilers. don't worry.....no details here. if it comes down to dick and danielle for the finale, i'm not even going to watch it. i felt the same way last year with boogie and erica (or the broomstick with hair, as we called her).

i'm off to a deposition where i'll be blowing my nose all day.....fun! hope you guys have a good day! :flower3:

So, Wisconsin, are you overlapping with any of us while you're at Disney? Only six days away? - WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm flying out Sept 15 and returning the morning of Sept 23. Unfortunately, I'll be spending time visiting with relatives that live in the Tampa/St Pete area, so I don't have any idea where I'll be and when. But if I see some lime green, I'll come up and introduce myself!

There was a shooting where I work this morning. An ex-employee somehow came across a key and entered the plant area and killed a female employee. They are still searching for the suspect. Here is a link for more info, if you are interested.

Harley hope you find peace, and strength - one step at a time, you're not alone!!

Lurkers just a shout out - come join us, just post, the more you post the more we are family to you!!

Shannon maybe she's just "old" and its like that lil ole lady "oh deary yes yes, deary, yes yes... I just see her as an old school lil ole lady - (the truth is probably different, but hey, you never know!!)

Punkin you're back already? I've been thinking about Paul Deen - wish I could write her a fan letter!! She is so much like my Texas Aunts, from the first time I heard her voice, I heard "home" and then she makes their recipes all the time... "Stick a butter or a cuppa sugar"...

Fall Delightful... and you can buy Halloween window treatments!! ;)

DD now thinks I'm drugging her - she has slept so well the last 2 nights, she just knows I've slipped something in "to practice" for disney, and she wants to know how I did it! :sad2: Yes, her mind is very strong!! At least she's happy... she loved watching the travel channel specials!!

Thanks all for letting me vent out my neighbor frustrations - you're the bestest!

anyway, with that said, do you have some sort of homeowner's association?

Unfortunately we don't have a HOA -- well actually I think we technically do since it was never "officially disbanded," but the people that the developer put in charge didn't want to deal with it and the majority of the neighbors don't want "someone else telling them what they can do with their own property."

MJMouse-I don't have any better advice then Punkin but I wanted to add that if one of those children gets hurt on your property I bet you would be liable in court.

This is so the reason I have a fence! AND why I do (kindly) kick the little buggers off my front lawn when I see them out there -- unfortunately I'm not always home when they are out and about.

I totally hear you about the personal responsibility thing and raising your children to be responsible and respectful -- doesn't seem to be high on a lot of priority lists.

We had a similar sitauation here recently. The kids were even pulling their basketball hoops into the road

And yes, if they are 'clicky' then they will talk...

They will talk. Already do.

MJ - first off - I wish you were around here - we have a radio show of "girlfriends' and they do this special thing called... "GET OFF MY LAWN!!
Sounds like my kind of show! There a quite a few children and pets (and their parents/owners) that I'd love to shout that at!!

what about asking the local police - not 911

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of respect for or confidence in the local police (and they don't have a stranger danger program as far as I can tell). The town force is made up of 20 - 24 year olds who are simply bigger children. I have witnessed them ride into our neighborhood and stop to talk to a neighbor that was riding a non-street legal mini-motor-bike up and down the street. I sploke with the neighbor later and instead of giving them a warning, he was asking what speed those things could do (was very excited by the prospect of 40 mph). A different deputy stopped by a late night house party around 12:30 one night. This particular party was keeping most of the neighborhood awake -- several people had called in complaints (not me, my hearing is crap so I took out my hearing aid and went to bed -- no probs). Anyhoo several noise ordinances had to have been violated, but this young man just stopped in to say hey and grab a sandwich (next door neighbor heard the whole conversation -- no warning about noise).

Think I'll talk to one of the mom's next chance I get -- perhaps if I approach her with concern and tact it won't go too badly.

and I will say when we lived next to the culdesac in a townhome, . ds used the neighbors driveway to teach himself to ride a bike!!

You were watching? He wasn't riding in front of cars like a dare devil? He knew how to look both ways before crossing the street? You were on good terms with the neighbor and they (hopefully) didn't care? That's all I ask. Kids are kids and need to play outside -- I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't think that parents of children who have been taught how to behave AND how to be safe need to watch them outside at every moment. (Sorry, off soap box now).

i could use some pixie dust - lots on my mind and in my heart that i just cant talk about so just lift me up if ya dont mind...tnks peeps:hug:

 and :goodvibes ... and prayers!

Did I mention I love fall? :rolleyes1

I  fall too! Mums are my favorite flowers and I love the colors!! Just don't like what comes next. Snow is BAD!

thanks! i'm actually taking mucinex D and it's working pretty well to just break up whatever it is that's in my head. does anyone know where we store so much snot? (TMI......sorry!)

Feel better!! Snorting a little salt water will clear that snot problem right up... :rotfl:
