Good Morning ladies (and gents!)

I've caught up, but of course can't remember everything I wanted to comment on. (I really need to get better at multi-quoting as I read!)

I did want to comment on the migraines...I found mine were triggered by caffeine! I always took Excedrine Migraine (which really helped which I never understood since there is caffeine in it!:confused3 ) Anyway, light is also a trigger. I always get aura's and visual disrupptions as mine start as ocular migraines. After 20 min or so my vision is better.

I am at the deli today, which should be slow with Ash Wednesday today. (People don'tthink of buying lunch meat today!) We'll see what happens.

Hope you ladies (and gents) have a great day! :goodvibes

Welcome Back Misty!!!! I forgot to say that yesterday. Oh and I enjoyed the report. :thumbsup2 Glad you are going back in July.

Dismom, Harley & Dragonfly - Y'all be careful out there. :yay: :rotfl: :rotfl:

UM - Take little Norah to the Dr. Why is it that they do this to us?.... Well it is to keep us on our toes. No good trip is worth taking without someone threatening to get sick. (J/K) :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2: But it does seem that way sometimes.

Good Morning all and Happy Wednesday!

I must say Harleygirl, Dismom and dragonfly must be poetry in motion! SO glad you guys can do it together and have a good laugh at each other doing it! Now I want to move!

DS and I are home sick, stomach virus running around school, no vomitting yet ewe gross but thats what the office told me at school.

I will be training tonight and tomorow during the day, did drive kids this am. I am pooped my dog was up most of the night as I worked during the day and I think she had energy to burn off, it was exhausting every hour up and out and playing in the snow! Shes nuts!

SO today I am going to curl up in bed, and hopefully get some rest!

Melinda - our catholic church had a sader meal when I was a teen it was the neatest thing! I loved learning the real impact as much as I could, and wish I could take DS to one too! SO glad your church does that!

Be well all and have a great day!

Did anybody else see this awesome cherry pie recipe on Hungry Girl? Sounds GOOD!

Very Cherry!
Sometimes we get a cherry craving so powerful that no amount of Sugar Free Jell-O or Sugar Free Popsicles will cure it. It's the kind of craving that can only be kicked to the curb with a slice of pie bursting with gobs of sweet & fruity cherry filling. That's why we've created our soon-to-be-famous Topless Cherry Pie. It's crazy-low in fat and calories and super-high in fiber. Woohoo! And sure the pie is topless, but you should feel free to enjoy it while wearing your favorite blouse.

Ingredients:
2 cups Fiber One bran cereal
3 tbsp. light whipped butter
2 tbsp. Egg Beaters, Original
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 20-oz. can no-sugar-added cherry pie filling (like the ones by Comstock and Lucky Leaf)**
8 servings (16 tbsp.) Fat Free Reddi-wip

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a blender or food processor, grind Fiber One to a breadcrumb-like consistency. Melt butter in the microwave for 20 seconds. Combine crumbs with melted butter and Egg Beaters and stir until well mixed. In an oven-safe pie dish sprayed lightly with nonstick spray, evenly distribute mixture, using your hands or a flat utensil to firmly press & form the crust. Press it into the edges and up along the sides of the dish. Bake crust in oven for 10 minutes, then remove and allow to cool. In a medium-sized nonstick pot, combine cornstarch with cherry filling. Heat stovetop at medium heat, stirring often. Once cherry mixture begins to bubble, lower heat and continue to stir for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for several minutes. Evenly spoon cherry mixture into piecrust and allow pie to cool and set in the fridge for several hours before cutting and serving. Before serving, top each sli ce with a dollop of fat-free whipped topping. Serves 8!

Serving Size: 1 slice; 1/8th of pie

Sorry, Fidge! Hope you are feeling better soon. :flower3: Just a 24 hour thing? I hope?

WI_Disneyfan, Welcome we're a great bunch of peeps, has some one said about writing your bio telling us all about you with a photo?
This will be sort of a tall order, since I avoid cameras at all costs. But I think I have a few from our honeymoon trip to Disney World a few years ago. If I can figure out how to scan them in I'll post one.

I think exercising is going to be the most difficult thing for me while trying to lose weight. The eating less thing? I can handle that. That basically involves not eating, and I am good at NOT doing something. But getting into a good exercise routine (and I am a VERY routine driven person) is going to take a little doing.

So last night, I got home and my wife mentioned that since it was such a beautiful night, that maybe we could take our runt of a Cocker Spaniel, Molly, for a walk around the block. And she was right, it was a beautiful night. I think it was in the upper 30's or lower 40's when I got home. (I know, to some of you that isn't a "beautiful night". But after almost two weeks of barely cracking zero degrees, this is a freakin' heat wave.) The circle block that our house is on is approximately 1/2 mile around. So we head out, and the walk is going great. The wife and I are talking, the dog is sniffing every little rock that she comes to. The three of us are having a great time. We get half way around the block, and trouble arises. There is a lady and her two kids outside, with a big Saint Bernard. Now, normally that wouldn't be a problem; since dogs are supposed to be on leahses at all times, they never get close enough to start trouble. Molly normally handles these things by stopping, staring, barking at the other dog, and then moving on after she is satisfied that she won the staring/barking contest. Problem is, this Saint Bernard wasn't on a leash. And it was very curious to see what this little furball of ours was made of. It walked right up to us, as its owner just stood and watched, and got right in the face of our poor little pooch. My dog started growling and barking, and the Saint Bernard's owner still stood there and watched. We tried to pull Molly to safety, but the Saint Bernard kept trying to get up close and personal. The other dog's owner finally started to call its name, but made no attempt to come and retrieve her dog. Well, after realizing that this other dog wasn't going away on its own, Molly decided to fight back. She snapped at the Saint Bernard, jumped on its head, and tried to push it away. The Bernard's owner finally started to walk towards us, but very slowly. The Bernard started to retaliate. It growled, barked, and tried to trample Molly. The other lady finally came over and pulled the Bernard away. She didn't apologize or anything. All she said was "she never does that" and walked away. I was very upset, but as is my nature I let it go. I know how Molly gets when other dogs get in her face like that. I'm not happy about it, but if the other dog is on a leash then it should never be an issue. Well, my poor dog was scared to death. She was whimpering and shaking. We cut our walk short, got her home and calmed her down. And of course, my wife is beating herself up over it. She probably said "what could I have done different" ("I" meaning her) about 25 times last night and this morning. My contention is that the Saint Bernard should have never been allowed to get that close to our dog to begin with.

To wrap up this story, we are going to try to walk Molly again tonight. I'm not sure what will happen if the Saint Bernard is out there, off leash, again. I hope that I won't have to find out.

UtahMama:
Did I read correctly that you have lost 150# since the last baby?
WOW!
How do you stay focused? I only want to lose 30-40 and I'm struggling. It is so discouraging when you see little or no movement in that scale or even worse when it goes the wrong way.

I'm just really impressed. I hope one day I can say I lost my 40 (and never find it again)

I did change my driving route home from work. There is a McD's and those egg mcmuffins are like magnets to my car so I now get right on the interstate and avoid the old 4 lane with its building upon building of sinful temptation-

guess ya'll have figured out my weakness- fast food. Next is bread and carbs in general, I can easily pass on the chocolate- but pass me the basket of rolls and butter- NOT!!! I'm trying and when I read of each of ya'll's successes and sometimes your stumbles I am amazed. You guys keep my wanting to try harder-

Thanks for being there - :)

Sparkie - I think we've all got our vices that can keep us from reaching our goals. Surprisingly, fast food isn't one of mine. I think it is the fact that I have to sit there in the drive through line and wait to order. It gives my brain time to think about what I am doing, and if I really need that Double Whopper with Cheese. Or would I be happier going to a Subway or Quiznos the next block over to get something just as tasty, and a whole lot better for me.

My two main vices are sweets and bread. I love, love, love chocolate. I know that I could keep chocolate in the house and only have a piece a night. But the problem would be limiting myself to one piece. For me, one would become two, which would become four. And I might repeat this two or three times a night until 1/2 box of candy is gone.

And bread is tough for me to pass up. I don't know if it is the carbs that I crave, but I just adore a good loaf of bread. Whether it is spice bread or maybe a pumpernickel or possibly a marble rye. I am a huge bread fan.

So hang in there. Eventually you'll figure out exactly what it is that is keeping you from losing. And then you'll just have to work on correcting it.

Yay! My taxes are done. I finished at 12:30 this morning and tried to get on here as it was printing, but the DIS was down.
but on the positive I kept up, and didnt poot not one time!!!:thumbsup2

I bought myself a yoga dvd the other day, and DD said she would join me to try it. We were super giggly because the lady says things like, "exhale through the soles of your feet." Did anyone see the Mad TV when the guy was a yoga instructor and the lady was a contest winner who got to join him on the show. He kept tell her to breathe through various orifices. It was a riot.:rotfl: And yes, I quoted Harley on purpose, because the hardest part of the yoga was, I had eaten Go Lean Crunch for breakfast, and it took all of my self-control not to toot since Julia was right behind me. The lady kept talking about how the twists in yoga squeeze all the toxins out of your internal organs. Tell me about it!

Hey Peeps!

I'm STARVING! LOL

I made it through my first day back at school. Mouth is sore but I only took 2 Tylenol today around noon which I think is a good sign considering I was practically counting the hours til my next dose of Percocet over the weekend. I'll probably take one soon just to take the edge off and relax me so I can sleep tonight. But anyway, I'm so freaking hungry. I had a slim fast and some gatorade and water today. Then just now I managed to get down a couple bites of mac-n-cheese that I had made a couple days ago. It's really annoying to chew so I'm just suffering through it. Plus I'm scared that I will pop a stitch or something will get stuck back there. I just weighed myself and I'm under 200 according to my home scale which means a 3 lb loss. (That's not my actual number - real weigh in is Thursday)

And here is a realization I had today. My mom mentioned that once I get this teeth thing taken care of that I would feel a lot less stressed out about school and that the stress I was feeling was probably more from the teeth than school. I didn't really believe her because school is really sucking this semester. But you know what? Ever since Friday, I've felt like a load has been lifted off me. I still have a lot of work to do but for some reason I feel more prepared and I actually have some time to just sit and relax with some TV or my Peeps! So the moral of the story - mom's are usually right :thumbsup2 .

Hurray for moms, and for Slim Fast instead of DQ:thumbsup2

Oh, "good" news, Norah had a fever today with our trip right around the corner. Why do one or more of us become sick JUST before we leave? WHY? I notice that with others too. Anticipating a Disney vacation must lower our resistance.

Pivotal question....How sick is too sick to go? I best take her in tomorrow if she still has this fever or any other symptoms because I dont want to visit the disney doctors if I can help it.

Sorry about Norah. I can't tell you how many times we've been to DL w/someone having to be on antibiotics, imodium, or pain killers. One July, we had to have Julia in long sleeve shirts, long pants, and a hat because she was on sulfa drugs and couldn't be exposed to sunlight (do you think that's when she developed her Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel obsession?)

So, this mom says, see the dr. and make sure Norah drinks lots of fluids and naps in the stroller, and have fun on your trip. But then, this mom also used a leash with her kids. shocking, I know;)
HAPPY ASH WEDNESDAY, PEEPS! :sunny:

I'm Baptist too but we are having an Ash Wednesday Service at church tonight. Our church is very moderate and becoming more ecumenical all the time. We too have a sedar meal which really brings the whole story of Moses and the Israelites to life. The Lenten season is a time for reflection on Christ's journey to the cross and the sacrifice He made for us. All the food is just a bonus! :)

Thanks for all the well wishes on the sick kiddos. I can't complain really....they'll get better and there are so many parents out there facing horrible diagnosis for their children. I'm just ready for them to go back to school! I took them out for 4 days back in Sept. for our WDW trip and they can only miss 10 days all together...after that every adsence requires a dr. excuse! :scared:

WHY, WHY, WHY do the teachers assign science fair project to kids who aren't old enough to complete the projects alone??!!!??? I have helped with several of these (thorn in my side) projects. I do however just happen to have knowledge of the EASIEST science fair project on the planet which requires the least amount of parental involvement AND won honorable mention at the elementary science fair.....just in case you ever need that information. ;)

HAVE A GREAT DAY, PEEPS!

We're Irish Catholic. No donuts for us on Fat Tuesday, but DH and I did have French Toast for dinner last night (in lieu of pancakes. DH likes them better).
I'm doing my best today to observe Ash Wednesday despite the fact we're leaving for Reno in a couple of hours. At least I didn't give up slot machines for Lent. this means we have 2 meatless days in a 3 day trip. My vegan DS cheered when I mentioned that.

I know someone mentioned that Jesus already made the Sacrifice for us, but for Catholics, we try to add our little bitty sacrifice to His big one, not because He needs it, but because we try to follow His footsteps. So for me, Lent is about trying a little harder to be a better Christian. Thinking more about those who are suffering, and trying to be less self-absorbed.

OOOOOH! I asked DH for a cherry pie for my b-day instead of a cake. I may have to make my own pie. this sounds so good.

Have a great couple of days while I'm gone Peeps. I've already made a plan to do just one buffet in Reno, and I'm packing oatmeal and sugar-free cocoa so we can at least start the day right.

I forgot to say, I was retaining water after a salty dinner the other day. I did the warm lemon water thing, and lost 4 lbs. in about 3 hours. Woo hoo!

Well Dene - I gotta tell ya, when I walked in I almost turned around and walked out...I was in awe and overwhelmed at the sheer buffness of the clientele...once in the class I was ok and didnt feel like I was being scrutinized but prior to going into the class I just observed a little...whew I gots a long ways to go!! Plenty of eye candy tho, male and female, I just felt like a big blob...but on the positive I kept up, and didnt poot not one time!!!:thumbsup2 think I even got an honorable eye contact from total hard body instructor;)
only thing I really ahd trouble with was the jumping, my foot kept watning to give way and I didnt want to lay out in the floor my first time...:rotfl2:

I'm glad the Y has ALL types... there are actually more non-buffs than buffs. And yesterday, when the "Cardio Challenge" instructor asked us to jump... well, this chick doesn't jump yet... so I faked it.:rolleyes1

About a month ago, I was walking on the treadmill at the Y and overheard 3 parents planning "their kids'" science fair projects... as I science teacher, that is one of the many reasons I DON'T assign them.:sad2:

Hi Peeps! No way will I be able to catch up this time - I've been off for 5 days; who knows how many pages have flown by?!
But a quick peek at the last couple pages tells me there's a lot of sick people out there. Including me. Yes, I caught the dreaded flu. The BIG flu. The one for which I signed up three times to be innoculated against, but wound up with a virus each time and couldn't get it.
Lat Thurs., I was feverish and not feeling great. Thurs. night through yesterday morning, I had a temp hovering between 100 and 102 and couldn't move past the bed and couch. What a nightmare! Thank goodness my DS was with his dad over the weekend and my mom was able to help out since then.

And check this out, in case feeling like I'd been dragged over a cliff weren't bad enough: I had no energy to eat and was averaging about a meal and a half a day. And I gained 3 pounds!:scared1: How can that even be?! All I can think is fluid retention, 'cause this AM I was back down 2. Bizarre.

Anyway, I'm still not up to snuff, but on the mend. Hope you all are staying or getting healthy, too! And, if you haven't already, GET THE FLU SHOT! :rotfl2:

I'm not exactly sure what the solution is to your St Bernard issue, but I did once have an incident when walking my beagle puppy where another dog actually took my puppy's whole snout in her mouth! :scared1: And I thought sure there was going to be blood everywhere when we got her off, but there wasn't. Not a scratch! And the whole time I kept telling myself to try to remain calm, and afterwards we moved on, and I kept remaining calm. And kept walking. And the next day I took her back by that same house, but we didn't stop to chat. I knew that if I freaked out, Jasper would sense it and probably freak out herself, and I kept walking and took her back by the house the next day in hopes that she would not develop a fear of that house or going for walks in general. (She was pretty young at the time, and I didn't want this incident to mess her up bigtime.) She was fine the next day and has been ever since. So, I wish you luck with your walk tonight. I hope it goes smoothly! :)

I'm not Catholic, but I think I'm going to try to talk my hubby into going to our local Catholic church one Friday night for their fish fry.

OOOOOhhhhhh!!!! I love the Fish Fry thing! I never knew about it until I started dating my DBF (he is from Wisconsin). :goodvibes We don't do those kinds of things down South - atleast not on a large scale like they do in the Midwest. It is so cool! They figured out a way to turn a not so good/fun thing (can't eat meat on Fridays) into a really cool thing - FRIDAY FISH FRY!!! :cool1:

Well I didnt mean to drop it on your head!!!! and I said I was sorry!

I forgive you! But it was too funny not to share!
Harley - you did great!

Denny said he was watching me in the class and the girl back by the glass turned around and looked at him like he was a weird stalker or something! He said he wanted to yell "I'm just looking at my girlfriend!!!"

dragonfly do you realize this year is the only year that you and Mos ages are interchangable...13-31

That's pretty cool! I can't believe she is that old (and so am I!!!):rolleyes1

I'm with ya there! I don't jump either :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I have to hold the girls down when they make us jump in class!

Glad you are starting to feel better V!!! And don't worry about the weight - it will go away. Keep drinking the fluids though!

And thanks Pixie for the smilies of me and Harley and Dismom - they made me giggle!

OT--but I know you guys will give your opinions in regard to daycare vs. somone. I have noclue what daycare is going to cost for two kids and was wondering how much you would offer a reliable person to watch kids in your own home. All I would ask is that they would watch kids and then tidy up after them. No cooking except for kids lunch or cleaning. Just trying to figure out what to do. THanks.

I am posting my totals for yesterday now. I am so behind! I DID use my exercise ball last night! I think it was 25-30 minutes. One of the weights that is attached by resistance bands broke, so I had to improvise. I think you can buy just the ball weights. I will have to look and see if they have the loops to clasp onto the bands on them. Anywho, here's the food part...

B: honey wheat english muffin w/ff strawberry cream cheese (190) yogurt smoothie (60)
S: light Activia yogurt (70)
L: SBD wraps w/Jello (220)
S: 94% ff popcorn mini bag (100)
S: 2% string cheese (70)
D: turkey & swiss on whole grain bread w/light mayo (about 570) ff/sf Dulce de Leche Jello pudding (60)
S: WW lemon cake (80)

TOTAL: 1420 calories & about 84 oz. of water

3/5 of my house is sick. DS9 has missed 3 days of school and I have missed 2.5 days of work. That means less money for the Mouse. :sad1:
