DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

Well this isn't really food related but if you could spare a little pixie dust, I'd really appreciate it. As I mentioned I'm a graduate student studying speech pathology and I am at the point where I'm getting my own clients with supervision. Well I have a client tomorrow that I am very nervous about. More than any of my other clients combined. I met the client last semester because I did his initial evaluation, but this is the first time meeting for his therapy. His case is not like any ordinary speech or language or even voice disorder and I feel like I'm just making goals up off the top of my head. My supervisor has told me to stop worrying and that I will be fine, but I am so nervous I can't even stand it. I literally feel like I have no idea what I'm doing, that I'm making stuff up, and that I will make a fool out of myself during the session. So, if you could spare some SLP pixie dust, I'd love you forever!

Foodwise, I was kinda bad today. I got really stressed (again, school related) because I wasn't feeling well, and my other supervisor sprung all this testing and screening stuff on us - for tomorrow on top of my nerves over tomorrow's session! So I've been scrambling to get things together and in the process ate a lot of junk. That I bought at CVS. Oops. Tomorrow is another day - and weigh day. Hopefully it's lower than last week. Even if it's a half a pound.

Thanks Peeps!

Shannon~
pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for you! You will be fine. your post reminded me of when I was in college. I was taking a water safety instructor course. Along with the course we did swim lessons, mostly with local school kids. Well one Saturday am we had a special teaching assignment we had to go to the pool for. We were teaching handicapped kids. I was assigned to teach a blind, mentally retarded teenage girl. I was scared to death. I had no idea what to do! But you know what, the situation was different than anything I'd ever experienced, but I had the basic skills I needed and I just didn't realize it! It went wonderfully. Truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I'd actually forgotten about it until I read your post, and now I have chills remembering how wonderful it was. Your supervisor would not have given you this assignment if you couldn't handle it! You must be extra special to have been assigned to this student. You have the skills and you'll work it out. It will be magical!

I have to tell ya'll...on my way to the gym tonight it occured to me that I forgot my socks. Now I wear business attire to work and I had on tan dress sock...not the most attractive look with biker shorts, if you know what I mean. :sad2:

Well, I had two options - go home and skip the gym or go work out and look like an idiot...I chose option two. :confused3

So I was in the bathroom getting ready and what to my amazement do I find in the bottom of my gym bag, but a pair of white atletetic socks!!!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! (that would be angels singing if you were curious)
The exercise and gym fairies took mercy on me because I made a GOOD choice and they saved me from humilitation.:cheer2:

I'm sure there is a moral to this story somewhere, but I am just happy I didn't have to work out looking like my Grandpa at the beach! :lmao:

I think that deserves a WOOO HOOTY!

my snack list:

low fat microwave popcorn
clementines
frozen grapes
sugar free jello
and if I have enough calories left at the end of the day an ice cold glass of chocolate milk!

I just got caught up. I should have gone to bed an hour ago, but I'm sharing DH's computer and had to wait my turn. Welcome to the newbies. Prayers and pixiedust: for everyone who asked for it. Just a reminder for everyone losing weight for a big trip:don't starve, and make sure you keep up the exercise. The last thing you want to do is lower your metabolism right before going someplace where you're likely to eat more. That's when you get the rebound weight plus a few extra.
Goodnight to anyone still up, and good morning to everyone ahead of me in time zones (that's most of you). Have a satisfying and skinny day!

One more thing to Jo. The "whilst" comment cracked me up. A dear friend is from Scotland, and when we worked together in the library, she would tell the children that they could look at magazines whilst the other children were checking out. I told her that some of our immigrant students were going to go home and ask if they could play outside whilst waiting for dinner, and their parents were going to be totally :confused3 .

If we decide to go, would you be able to give me some pointers? It was so hard to pick out hotels, when you don't know which part of town to stay in. The room descriptions are very different than over here. :sad2: We wanted a suite, where the kids had their own room, and I never could find that over there. :confused3 So we ended up at Disney! Not a bad trade off. :cool1:

I may not be of any help 1 hour away is a lot for us Brits you know. :rotfl: But I will help if I can, hotels over here don't seem to be as well equipped as yours, the rooms seem to be much smaller and nearly always only have 1 bed. England is a great place to visit just not in the cold drab winter!

Pink Lady is a variety of apple (like Red or Golden Delicious, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, etc.) that I found at Central Market a couple of years ago and can now find "sometimes" at the local grocery stores. The Pink Lady Apple website said they are from the UK

Funny ours come from Africa. :rotfl2:

Please Bow your heads:angel:

Give us this day, a yogurt parfait, and of course, a hamburger if noone I know is watching.

And forgive us our carbs,

As we forgive those carbs which have attacked us.

Lead us not into the golden arches,

And deliver us from those wonderful evil french fries.

Very clever and you got my faves Cadburys and HD in there too. :cool1:

Glad I could make you laugh :thumbsup2

Well peeps whilst you've all been lazing in bed I've already been on a 1 hours walk with my DH. It snowed here last night, whooo hoooo, and we never get snow, although it was only a tiny bit, but we made the most of it and went for a nice brisk walk. Trouble is I was then starving so I was good, or not, and only had 1 biscuit. I've just put a potato in the oven for lunch so that's reasonably healthy. Just looked out of the window and it's snowing again.

See you all later.

:sunny: GOOD MORNING, SKINNY FRIENDS!!! YOU LOOK FABULOUS TODAY!!!

Hi All,Not to mention my pants biting me on the long plane ride:sad2:
:welcome: DEB!!! Never enjoy that pants-biting-the-butt thing. :scared: Welcome aboard! PM me your birthday....I'm the keeper of the birthday list!
Dirty Mistress of Death (I laugh every time I read that).....your flax seed must be ground to be beneficial. Whole flax seed pass right through your system with no nutritional benefit. Does it say "flax seed meal" or "milled flax seed"? Sprinkle on your oatmeal or cold cereal.

Stacey....this ministry is actually my job...the paying kind! Back me up here, though....is the church office not the garbage disposal for all church events? Seriously!

Yesterday there was fudge, cookies, cheese ball, etc. from an ordination reception...spaghetti, fettucini alfredo, bread stix, and chocolate cake from a search committee meeting....doughnuts, etc. brought in by one of the ministers for staff meeting and ALL THOSE COOKIES ON MY DESK! This is why I've gained 10 pounds since I starte working there. Hard to be skinny in the church office! :) OT....can't wait to go back and check out your dining reviews....they are awesome!

Amen, brother peep!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all have a hunger-free skinny minnie day! :goodvibes I'll be putting those awesome snack lists to use today - but only a few! ;) I'm still being good! I haven't fallen off the wagon yet - which is a miracle to me! :thumbsup2 You guys are the best!

-Michelle

Honestly Melinda - I love your summaries - so I want to totally say DITTO, and "what she said" Right down to every WELCOME and Pixie dust - good wishes, positive thoughts and prayers... as I read the posts, I know I have such little time, but I do stop and think on all y'alls posts, and do feel as if I'm getting to know you!!

Eeyore that mde you sound very smart! I dont comprehend most of it, but it sounds really good:lmao:

<blush> gosh I wish I was smart, just a smart alek here - that was mostly from Wikipedia, greatest source on the net... imho - and I do believe Melinda stressed that you must grind the flax seed for benifets - dh bought one of those electrical coffee type grinder he uses just for his flax seed, so he can store his seeds on the counter in an air tight container, and he does have it every day, has been for at least a year - maybe more - and come to think of it, I cant complain, I dont hear... (or smell) any toots at night!!! roflol

Just caught up with the day's posts and saw several pleas for pixie dust! pixiedust: I'm sending some your way! pixiedust:

mygirlsof2 - Please update us when you can! I hope your DH will be OK!

Wonders10 - Good luck tomorrow! :thumbsup2

eeyore45 - I hope your daughter is doing better.

Thank you for all of the snack lists!!! You guys are awesome! :grouphug:

Sleep well, peeps!
-Michelle

Note how I started with a summary??!! Yep, what Michelle said too!! and unfortunately dd tantrum was horrendous... and I started to "share", but it was way tmi... that girl - - you cant imagine the drama, just dont you dare so "no" to her 'request' (outlandish tho they may be) I know she's just testing us... OR, she found when she expells that much energy (screaming, kicking, throwing things, to full blown crying hysteria when she realizes I"m NOT kidding, or threatening, consequences are real here!one full hour of crying... she sleeps better.... (insert eye roll) and truly if I typed what she said, y'all would totally roflol... ("I can tell the teachers you beat me, and they will take you to jail - the power point presentations to "persuade" persuasive writing is what I need to do... ) I filmed some of it on the Canon 30 sec increments... I'm gonna load it to youtube!!!

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the great smart snacking tips today.

I did not have a very good weight loss my first week of WW@Work (will post it on Friday) compared to how I have done in the past, so I was feeling a little discouraged today. I talked with the leader after class about my concern that the points were a bit too high for me for good weight loss, so I am going to try to stick to only eating my daily points and staying away from the flex points. Of course, it may also be related to the fact that I am 4 years older this time around

I AM going to shop for and eat some better food choices this week and see how I do next week. I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners, so that results in my eating foods that contain sugar more than I probably should. Something else to work on.

I was able to totally avoid drinking regular pop all last week though, so that was a small victory!

P.S. Grumpy, I LOVED your "UtahMama Prayer"!!! Uma ought to modify the initial post to include that as part of the DISappearing Peeps' creed!

<group hug> I was gonna ask about those 'extra' 'feel good' flex points - I think you'll do great, just remember, slow and steady will win this race!! I hear you on how hard it is to give up pop - I bought my dad some 100 calorie coke, and one was left, I downed that sucker so fast when I unpacked it... <guilty> I too hate the 'artificial' stuff... I'm trying to learn portion control, and total calories..

Ok, even another reason not to put DD on a plane. I would be so embarrassed if they asked us to leave the plane since DD is 8! :rotfl:

You are not kidding, I cannot take my TEN year old to a dentist due to her outrageous screams, and just for him to look at her blasted teeth, not even to clean them... they told us we were upsetting his patients, and to leave now please.... and to have her sedated next time... our last trip home from Disney included a 11 hour or so plane ride from h e double hockey sticks and she threw up 9 times, dont tell me we wont have a nail biter on our next ride1!! <eye roll> <sad>

Yes, you make perfect sense. I have two kids and I have two dogs. If you can train your puppy, kids will be a breeze. I watch the Dog Whisperer and he makes it look so easy, but I fail with the dogs so much of the time. :sad2: I am getting better though. Actually, I think a lot of the processes you go through to train a dog, would transfer over to children. :thumbsup2 I hope that didn't sound flip. I really mean that. It takes a lot of dedication, and I think you will prove to DH that you CAN handle and juggle everything, and then his heart will melt like buttah. ;)

I can relate to the name thing. Mine has been misspelled my whole life. That is why I named my kids with "regular" names, and common spellings. :)

Sorry about the miss spellings, my maiden name sounds like a simple word with an added vowel, but no one ever pronounces it right - my last name now I just post it on the boards phoenetically - it really stuns the adults how simple it is!!

Ok teacher, I have a question.? Is it ok to eat the flaxseed meal every day?

DH does, I have no worries in that department, so I'm not messin with what already works like a breeze... *wink *wink

I had a Kashi frozen meal tonight for dinner, and I sprinkled two tablespoons on top of it. I didn't eat it all (not because of the flaxseed). I didn't like the kind of Kashi meal (Lemongrass Coconut Chicken). DS asked why do you keep eating it if it tastes bad? I told him because it is healthy and good for me. He shook his head and said how can it be good for you when you have such a bad look on your face? :confused3 :rotfl: How did that kid get so smart? :rotfl:

Gotta luv the truth - my cousin went with the Seattle Sutton Healthy Dinners (think like Jenny craig/Nutrasystem, but fresh food) You dont get to pick and chose, they just drop off a weeks worth of food - - she said the same thing, gave up after a week!! so not worth it, eating is my pleasure...

On the way to DS hockey practice tonight I drank part of my 32 oz. of water (I had already had 32 oz. earlier in the day). I wanted to "wash" the flaxseed through. ;) :rotfl: Well, there was an accident on the way there. I kept drinking while sitting in traffic. I drink better when I am "mindlessly" drinking. It is better than "mindlessly" eating. ;) Well, as I got closer to the accident, I realized that the water has to go through at some point. Well, that point was about to be reached. :scared: I had to do the "pee pee wiggle dance" in the car. I made it to the ice rink just in time. ;) Note to self, don't mindlessly drink during traffic. You might have an "accident" yourself. ;) :rotfl::rotfl2:

Talk about memories!! My ds played hockey from age of 4 to 16!! Spent many a day seeking out the rinks!! (and we played in the Peoria by the Riverman!! *wink

For some reason the smilies arent working, I am SO late, I need to leave the house, and I'm not ready, and I have to fight dd again!! DH worked all night again... *sigh[/COLOR]

Eeyore45~

Here's for you... and pixiedust: Sounds like you can use it. My youngest DD is also a drama queen! Can I get some confirmation here NSalz?

I understand what you're going through, very frustrating and also very tiring. It just drains ya!

Thanks, Sandy.........so, so sorry about DD! My DD13 is the drama queen here. But I also think birth order has something to do with it. You see, my girls are the older like your boys......and then God's little surprise gift....DS6. He also does not like to hear NO. I fear what will happen when he is your DD's age. :scared:

:grouphug: IS TODAY'S FIDGE'S DAY AT THE HOSPITAL FOR TESTS???

Youngest NEVER like to hear NO! (That was me!) And I finally figured out, it's because when they are real little, they get whatever they want to keep them happy and then as they get older, they think the world revolves around them and they deserve all that they want! HMMMM...how does that explain my "oldest" twin?!? :confused3 OK, maybe not! :rolleyes1

Good morning everyone!
I have a small moment of self control to celebrate today...last night my boyfriend decided he wanted to go out to dinner..to the dreaded Chinese restaurant...(insert doom and gloom music here)..while delicious, NOT PEEP friendly!...But i was good and only got sushi ( which I love!)..even though the crab rangoons were calling my name...if you picture that, that is indeed creepy...ANYhoo...I am just happy to report that i PEEPED it up and stayed strong against the MSG machine!
Have a happy, skinny minny, healthy day everyone!

Well this isn't really food related but if you could spare a little pixie dust, I'd really appreciate it. So, if you could spare some SLP pixie dust, I'd love you forever!

My son was diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech at 2 1/2 and did pretty intensive therapy until he was almost 9 and I can tell you that from my perspective when we were just starting out I was just glad to do anything that might help. Also he made INCREDIBLY SLOW progress at first! He really didn't start talking until 4 1/2 (yes, after 2 full years of therapy!) He is now almost 10 and I don't think anyone would ever know he ever had a problem, which is amazing since at one point I was convinced that he would NEVER talk!
So I guess I'm sharing this with you to let you know that if your client is in a difficult situation more than likely anything you do will be helpful and I'm sure appreciated! Good luck!pixiedust:

(The pixie dust smilie always makes me think of Mel Happyhaunt calling it setting yourself on fire! Whatever happened to her?)

Thanks everyone for all your prayers and optimism. This really is a great place and I am getting addicted to the boards, you all are so supportive! :grouphug: Especially thanks to winkers, pixiedust, lexmelinda, fidge, aldisneygrl, mlill, eeyore45, wonders, Lynda, dismomand anyone else I may have missed for all of your good wishes and prayers and pixiedust:

My DH got a shot and prescription for muscle relaxants. So far, it has made a *tiny* difference. He is able to get up and slowly limp to the bathroom and that is about it. The dr said just rest, use heatpacks, a hand-held massager, and the muscle relaxants. The trip is 3 days away :charac2:
In the meantime, DD4 has developed a fever. I was up every 4 hrs last night giving Tylenol and 4 hrs on the dot she was burning up again. DD6 has a cough, but not too bad. DDog is still barfing and required two baths and a carpet cleaner last night. Did I mention the trip is 3 days away? :sad2:

On a positive note, I ate really well yesterday! I stopped at McDonald's on the way home to pick up dinner for the kids and DH and got myself....nothing! I threw a veggie burger and left over string beans in the mic for myself :woohoo:

:welcome: to everyone!

Jo, love your family - the girls are as cute as can be!

denecarter, thanks for the bicarb tip! I've never heard of that before, but I sure will try it.

SNOW DAY HERE TODAY! NO SCHOOL! Don't they know those darn kids were just off last week of ML King Day???

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I also have a paying job at church. I direct the daycare/ preschool program. At our church, the school inherits all the left overs. Like when we had 15 left over pizzas Sunday night. Plus we have a cook who like to make homemade bread pudding. I feel your pain!

A snow day - I am so jealous! I am going to try and post more dining review after church tonight.

Okay, I am now officially running late for work.

Pixie dust and prayers for my DD (11) please. We all started this new healthy lifestyle together. Needless to say, DD is not happy about it. I feel like a drill sergeant. I am really trying to keep it simple. I told her she could have a brownie when the other kids were here last night, but no coke. I am making her drink water or crystal light. I have to help her monitor snacks. Anyway I hope this gets better soon.
