Kat- Ok, BABY steps! We are all in this together and we just get too excited sometimes. Skim through our diet advice( since we're all Passionate about dieting ;) ) but take the support. When you have a bad day, just mention it and chances are one or more of us are being tempted to fall off the wagon too. We did miss ya, and we're celebrating your return! We cant wait to see you shrink in size and grow in other ways.

I too tend to want to give up when I dont loose or when I work my bum off only to gain back or stay the same. It SUCKS, but It's worth it. I'm starting to feel great!

I WAS BAD LAST NIGHT....that giant Heath bar that was in my stocking at Christmas finally lured me in. I did share with DD13.

Also same DD baked a chess pie the night before last. Do you know chess pie? Is it a regional delicacy?? My friend from Boston laughs at our pie...says in New England they can afford to put berries in their pies.

Anyway...chess pie is just sugar, butter, eggs basically. And it's GOO-OOOO-OOOD. That's right....3 syllables. So I had to have...a little.

Confession over.....

Hello. I am not exactly sure where to post but I am starting over AGAIN. I need to lose at least 72 lb-125lbs but the doctor says it needs to be not more than 1-2 lbs per week or I will get sicker. I had recent emergency gall bladder surgery and got diagnosed with a fatty liver just before the holidays.I feel so overwhelmed. I met with a size zero nutritionist(can being that skinny really be any healthier than being overweight?) and she lectured me about how she could not understand how I could let myself get so fat especialy since I am a nurse. I left there feeling chastised,reprimanded and embarrassed. Truth is I have no idea how I got to be this size but it is actually killing me now so I have to loose the weight and I have to try again NOW. My first thought was I cant do this. I feel like a big moose.I basically need to lose the size of a 10 yr old. How the heck did that happen! Anyway, I expect I will be needing advice,ideas,motivation etc during what looks to be a really big challenge. Am I in the right place?:confused3

This thread is very supportive and people here are on all kinds of different diets. Sounds like you need some solutions that will work for you not just in the short term. What is your greatest temptation???

Here we are all drinking lots of water, exercising as much as we can, trying to eat healthier, sharing our challenges, and confessing our sins. Nobody needs a lecture and you won't get one here. (Bad, bad size 0 nutritionist!!!)

Eating too much. It is the portion sizes that are a problem for me. I grew up in a house where my dad would say stuff like whay dont you like it? You only had one bowl! Etc so i grew accostumed to eating lots of food. I wasnt overweight until I had kids but they are teens and I m getting health issues. I am 223# and it is so overwhelming to think about how much has to come off. I also LOVE carbs. Crave em and added lots of them because I was avoiding fat due to gall stones. Now that the gallbladder is gone I need to curb the carbs and add some healthy fat and proteien. I cant even remember how much water I am supposed to drink!

Good Morning Ladies and Happy Saturday!! Harley I dragged our friend out of your house this morning when you were in the bathroom!!!

OK I got him today for inspiration and incase I fall or hit my head!

Feeling really good today, so glad I am wirwtiing this food stuff down adn using that calorie counter on line I found! Very helpful. I had no idea how quickly some little things can add up!

I am feeling very motivated as this am after a good flush I was feeling skiiny and believe that this is really possible for me!!

UM loved yesterdays comment I repeated it in my head......this pound is gone forever...goodbye!!!!

I had a little brainstorm..thankfully no one got hurt Harley had our resuce team tucked away!!

I purchased some sherbert for DS and you know there is no fat in it. I had 1/4 as my dessert and UM batttling that bedtime thing but am making some really good progress. Got up and had wee bit of a graham cracker with a glass of water!!!

I think I can I think I can......................
 
Oh another of my plans for today will go to chinese restaurant and not look and buy some tea there! I don't put milk in chinese tea and love the flavor so .....that will help in me seprating from my cow fat!!

Maybe I can stop mooing then!!!

Very excited going to go and ride bike now and take pups for a walk!

Just got back from Disneyland and I stopped in the bakery to say hi to my nephew who works there. I DID NOT get anything from the Bakery, as hard as it was not to. BUT, the Bakery and the Ice Cream Parlour are CONNECTED! Blast it! I shared a CC Cookie hot fudge sundae with DH. :sad2: Forgive me UtahMama, for I have sinned. :angel:
I'm still proud of you! Somehow I missed your weigh-in yesterday - 4 pounds is fan-Focker-tastic! :lmao: I firmly believe you earned the right to share a little treat.

My problem is I get discouraged when I don't lose fast enough and I guess give up. i also get overwhelmed with too much diet advice/programs.
Me too - I'm actualyl shopping for a digital scale today because I need to see the progress and I can barely even read my rotary scale! It's silly maybe, but seeing a .05 loss motivates me. If I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, it's so easy to just say "Why bother?" Hang in there -we'll support and encourage you!:thumbsup2

YES!! I may be the least motivated person I know. I've only recently accepted that I may actually have to work at being healthy and maintaining a good weight for me. And I use the term "accepted" loosely. ;) This is a fantastic group of folks and I know you'll feel encouraged and successful here! You CAN do it! :cheer2:

DOn't even get me started on this subject! In my closet, I have a skirt I bought 15 years ago - it's a size 8P and I can barely close the waist. I don't wear it anymore, I jsut keep it around to prove to myself what a racket the fashion industry has going with sizing. Because I also have skirts I bought 5 years ago that are size 4P - they fit just right. I bought a skirt last year in size 2P - it's big. For the record, I'm the heaviest I've been in 5 years. Who do they think they're fooling?! Call me whatever size you want, but for goodness sake, be consistent!
P.S. It was also a year ago that I joked to a co-worker "What are they gonna do now that 0 is the smallest size?!" Guess what - now there's 00. :sad2:

How much might the er... "girls":Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc add to one's weight?! it ocurred to me last night that I've gone up a cup and a half on my latest BC pills and maybe they're responsible for that pesky couple of pounds I just can't shake. Or am I just making excuses to get me out of exercising?!

And I know what you're thinking - yes I did try to weigh them. It didn't work; I just fell over on the bathroom floor. :rotfl:
I'll leave you with that lovely image to contemplate as you go about your day...
 
SnowwhiteYou are in the right place!!! THe days I am feeling discouraged I get kindness and a gentle loving push in the right direction! WE all want each other to FEEL GOOD about ourselves!

I get great ideas and pointed out some things that I did not even think about that are obstacles. For me this is learning a new way of doing things that improve me mind body and soul!

We learn how to dodge the little green goblins AKA Girl scouts wielding boxes full of fat and big ole thigh bulkers!

I also learn how even if my dog locks me out of my car and complete insantiy errupts I do not have to go and eat some girl scout cookies!

There is some great tools given here if I use them!!! Its a pink toolbox...but don't tell Grumpy man hes the man about this thread!!!

I will be looking up some of the recipes and ladies I might even work on some colon blowing recipes this weekend!!!!

I am all about the colon blow!!!

How much might the er... "girls":Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc add to one's weight?! it ocurred to me last night that I've gone up a cup and a half on my latest BC pills and maybe they're responsible for that pesky couple of pounds I just can't shake. Or am I just making excuses to get me out of exercising?!

And I know what you're thinking - yes I did try to weigh them. It didn't work; I just fell over on the bathroom floor. :rotfl:

Me I haven't weighed the girls but I am sure your DH would be happy to guess their weight !!! I am sure he would need to check them first though for accuracy!!! Now that would put a smile an a husbands face in the morning !!

OK as for BC , I have not been on it in eons...but Dr said it would increase my weight by 3-4 lbs at that time at 120 I was tramatized !!!!:rotfl: If I recall correctly Dr said it levels its self out after soemtime. Not positve but know about the increase!

Princess V...I swear that the 7 pounds I have lost all came off my chest. The "girls" :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc look like deflated balloons ! I am starting to look like a 13 year old boy ! What pills are you taking ? I am on Brevicon and I wonder if I change would it inflate the girls a bit ????

Welcome Snow ! :welcome: :welcome: You are in the right place...this is the BEST group of Peeps. My best advise...H2O :drinking1 and lots of fibre ! I think 1-2 pounds a week is a great goal. I loved what Utah said about picturing a pound of bacon....gives you a great visual. If you take the weight off slowly you have a better chance of sustaining the weight loss. I think of it this way..."I didn't put the weight on 5 lbs a week, so that is not how it is going to come off". Baby steps (or Mnnie Mouse steps) are the best way.

Welcome Snowwhite... I'm up there with you on the numbers (actually above you). Seems like there are two kinds of people that "help" you with your weight. Those that support and encourage you and realize you are only human and you can't be perfect 'cause nobody is. Food is my drug of choice... some people drink, some smoke, some do drugs... I eat. The peeps are very supportive :grouphug: and so is my trainer at the Y :love: . Others try to scare or degrade you into doing something... I don't react well to that. In fact, I kind of take a bleep you attitude and cut off my nose to spite my face. So what if you're a nurse... I'm a science teacher. I KNOW what is up, but that doesn't mean I always DO what I should. There are fat doctors even! Don't know if it is possible, but personally, I would ditch the chick... some people respond to her style, I don't.

In fact, they did something on tv.. a Primetime or 20/20 or something. Took 2 groups of overweight people. One group was given all kinds of encouragement and help and created a team. The other group was threatened with public humiliation (fat pix were taken in bathing suits that would be projected on minor league babeball jumbotron). The encouraged group actually did better. Luckily, the tv show used a clothed "before" shot and not the bathing suit for the folks that didn't reach goal... they didn't really want to humiliate them, they just wanted to see if the threat of humiliation affected the outcome.
