I'm starting a thread here (away from the ever growing official thread) to see what everyone's guesses are for the main event. I thought it would be fun to see what everyone thinks from the "clues" that John, :worship:the SUPER Genius, has let slip. Maybe the first one that gets it right can have a chance to spin, John??:woohoo:

Mayhaps they have chosen ICE at Gaylord Palms as a location. They have all raved about the atrium AND the exhibit (minus the parkas). It's just a guess. :confused3

Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

:surfweb:

I've never been to DAP, but it just so happens that we arrive on December 12, so I'm thinking we might try to go. I spend more time reading these boards than writing to them, so I don't have any connections to anyone here. Fortunately my husband never met a person he couldn't get to know, so I guess I'll just follow him around that night and see what friendships he strikes up.

So....onto your question. :confused3 I can't imagine what they might be thinking of doing (I know that's not really a response to the question). I just wish they'd spill the details. I'm very curious to know.

but would it be a Dis a polooza witha out being on Dis ney property???

I think we're all going to go up inside the castle and take turns riding the cable as Tinkerbell. :)

based on what was planned for the podcastcruise im sure its going to be wonderful :thumbsup2

From what we know already.....

Accomodates 1500 people.
Will not need park access
Kids are encouraged to come.
More then just desserts will be on the menu.

My early guess was DisneyQuest. My second guess is Soarin'.

I'm going with Soarin. I think they have a backway to get there or something. We know that sunshine seasons can hold a LOT of people.

There are a couple back ways. Most probable is to go around world showcase back road under the water bridge and back behind the pavilion.

If someone pulled some REALLY big strings, we could go in the Epcot Tunnel on the Universe of Energy side and come up by Innoventions West.

That's just my guess. Or they once just escorted a group of people past us and close the Western Half of Future World one day. (It was for some Travel Agent shin dig.)

My guess is The Land Pavilion. Not just Soarin'. Soarin' is nice, but I think after a few dozen times, it may get stale. (Don't hit me.)

I am intrigued about the Disney Quest. That would be different. And plenty for a lot of people to do.

Even if it were something like "ride the boat with Thommy(zulemara) as skipper for 4 hours" it's be a blast. I don't care. We will have fun. We will be blown away.:goodvibes

Agree, if they have Soarin it would be the whole pavillion. Not the replay value on Soarin like there is on TSM. I'd prefer DQ.

My guess was the Mickey's Backyard BBQ area at Fort Wilderness for a good old fashioned campfire cookout! That could easily hold 1500 people and is outside of the parks. I can also see hoe it would be very family friendly. The only reason I think this might not be right is because DAP is in December and I remember them saying that last year was not very warm in Pixar Place. Just me $.02

Wow, several of those ideas sound awesome and plausible. I'm thinking no on the Gaylord Palms because the hassle of getting everyone there and home. I do see the podcast taping being there though.

Where ever DAP main event is we'll have to be escorted to get in. The other thing about food being more than just desserts. I think the menu that Pete was oooing and awwwing over was for Friday. That's my take on it.

Some very interesting speculations here.

Let me add some clarifications to 'help' with your guessing.

Just because you won't need park access doesn't mean it can't be in a theme park. Doesn't mean it IS in a theme park either....just doesn't mean it can't be either....as Tommy mentioned people can be escorted into a theme park after hours.

The menu Pete saw was definately from the Saturday party/event.

OK - I've said too much already. Back to speculating!!!

So now Thommy and Alicia know?!?!?!?:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I said a while back that I really think it is at The Land Pavilion.

The Future world closes fairly early, which would allow us to rent out that space. And being able to ride Soarin' over and over would be completely awesome!!! And there would be plenty of things to do there and plenty of room for us to spread out.

So my guess...

The Land Pavilion
About 30 minutes or so after park closing
Menu including light, but fancy food
Includes activities for kids

And most of all - lots of good company!!!

I hope we all have to wear name tags with user name and First name, City, State so we can all get to know each other! :)

I don't care what it is. I am just excited to get a chance to meet everyone!

I think that Pete and John have bought out The Great Movie Ride for the evening. There will be tables set out for food / meal in either the Wizard of Oz scene or the Western/Gangster scene, and the final movie theater montage area will be used as a dance floor area.

I've been doing some research for our forthcoming Disney wedding, and this was one of the options for the Dinner Reception, couldn't believe it!

Here are pictures of a similar event:

And here's a DISer that did it:

Well what ever John and Pete do I bet it will be done FIRST CLASS and I can't wait and neither can my kids!

Soarin would be really cool though.....
