disable rooms at WL

I have read alot on this site, and what i can see is that any disable rooms are king bed rooms...has anyone seen a 2/queen disable room. We dont need or want a wheelchair shower, just a bathtub with handles, and two queen beds...can info on this would be great

The rooms with roll in showers are fully wheelchair accessible so that someone who needs a wheelchair to get around can drive around the whole room and get from bed to bathroom. The space in the roll in shower rooms is arranged differently than in non-accessible rooms. The bathroom in those rooms is larger to make space for a roll in shower and room for a wheelchair in the bathroom. They get that space by making the bedroom space smaller. Those are the rooms with king size beds because the king bed allows enough space to have a 3 foot wide 'aisle' to move around. Queen beds may not allow enough space.

The other type of handicapped accessible room is the type you want - with grab bars in the shower. Those rooms are usually arranged the very same as non- handicapped accessible rooms. All they do is add a raised seat toilet and grab bars by both the toilet and sink. Because the bathroom isn't taking any extra room, those rooms have the same bedroom arrangement as 'usual', so they do have 2 beds.

You can also request a bath bench from Housekeeping if that would be helpful.

thank you sooo much, i have called disney, talked to them online, i even called the resort today, and i just kept being told i had to request a room when i added her, no one would tell me if there were different types of disabled rooms...you are an angel!!

If you look in post #7 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find a lot of information about accessibility for the resorts. There are also some pictures of the different types of rooms. That thread is near the top of the disABILITIES Board or you can use the link in my signature to get there.

There is a phone number in that post to call the Special Reservations department. They will be able to help you with what you need (and they will understand what you are asking). Make sure you have your dates and your reservation number handy when you call.

FYI - when you call the resort, you are not actually talking to the resort. Those calls are routed to a call center and just answer as if they were at the front desk. So, they can answer general questions, but may not be able to answer the kind of specific questions you are asking.

thats really interesting that u are not talkin to the hotel, not sure if i like that lol, but oh well, the post 7 was wonderful with pics of the bathroom... you have been soo helpful, and really put my mind at ease, i just really want her to have fun without worrying...do u know if u can get wheelchairs at the resorts, and if yes, can you use them in the resort... like preorder kinda one..

You can't reserve one ahead of time and there is no guarantee whether they will have one available when you get there, what condition it will be in or what size it will be.
If she really needs to have one, it is better to pre-order one from one of the off-site companies. If you look in post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find everything you want to know about renting wheelchairs or ECVs (power mobility scooters).
