Hi. I never considered getting a disability pass when I was active duty. I am retired now. I am just curious, what would a Veteran with 100% service connected disability need to show? I have every document and VA ID card that says service connected.

It's also my first time posting on this forum. I am not familar with disability passes other than I know a few folks that have them. One with similar medical issues as myself.

I am headed to MK when my daughter gets out of school. Hoping to be in MK by 5PM. We have reservations at 7:45 for the Wishes Dessert Party. It's her birthday today. So just a thought... we are also going Saturday and 3 other times before June 9th (no firm dates yet).

Please read the sticky at the top of the page. Just the first couple posts the rest is the discussion when it was implemented and does not have much relevance. The das is based on an inability to wait in line not Oma diagnosis. If you have a mobility issue - can't stand walk etc- your recourse is a mobility device - wheelchair ecv etc not usually a das.
You do not bring proof of a disability and Disney cm will not usually look at it if you bring it. You need to articulate your needs and why you cannot stand in the traditional lines.

Thank you for your service. Here is a link to the WDW - Disability Access Service (DAS) thread the PP mentions. The first post has all the information needed, no need to read the rest of the (long) discussion at the time the program was started.

DAS is need-based and not diagnosis-based. So you'll have to explain your needs as related to waiting in a standard queue environment to a CM at Guest Relations when requesting the DAS. DAS is basically only used for attractions with both standby and FP+ queues; it has no particular value for fireworks, parades, dining, transportation, etc.

Enjoy your vacation!

thank you for your service too.

another thing is that the GR CM are not supposed to look at any Dr notes ( as they can be very heard to tell what they mean as they are not DR or have medical back grounds and the note can be a fake).

like the PP said it is need based so think of things that waiting in a line is hard for you. and what will make it easer for you, two people can have the same DX but there needs be very different. If you find it hard to explain your needs write down your need in your own words tell the CM that you wrote you need down and would like them to read it, they should be able to do this and they may have some question for you. the possess of the whole thing really is to that long 5- 10 minutes fro the whole thing.

Depending on your needs there are things you can do to help your self. I know people that get migraines so they wear hoodies and sunglasses to block out the light. Doing things like this in conjunction with the DAS can really help with Disney. Depending on your disability/how server it is, doing something your self can really be a big deal.

Once you get your DAS you will have it for 60 days and after this you will have to get a new one. Each person you are with will need to be added to your DAS and for the most part only ( I think it is 5, it might be 6) can go with you on your DAS pass, they can wait out side the line with you.

The only ride at Disney that dose not have a FP line that you can use your DAS on is the astro ride at MK tomorrowland. If you want to ride this you will need to stand by the exit and when the CM see you they will ask what you want tell then you would like a DAS return time and they will scan your band or ticket and give you your time.

I hope this helped and ask any question you have and again Think you for your service and I hope/ I know your DD has a very happy birthday.

As a PP said, it is need based not diagnosis based. If it is strictly a mobility issue they will tell you a wheelchair or ECV will be what you need and not a DAS. Be prepared to explain why waiting in the queue would be a problem for you. If they do issue you a DAS, you will need everyone in your party with you so their bands can be added and the can come with you on your return times. If it is a mobility, please consider the ECV or wheelchair, it will make it so you are able to enjoy the park so much more! Thank you for all you have done and God Bless!

WDW doesn't have a program based on being a veteran - but they do have the DAS based on being unable to handle the standard queues at the theme parks. As stated by others, it is based on need/ability, not diagnosis, as one person with a diagnosis is not the same as another person with the same diagnosis. There is nothing you need to show, as ADA does not require paperwork.

If you meet the standards for a DAS, you will get to wait out the time of the standard queue in a different location of your choice. Also, don't forget to use FP+!

DAS is given out ONLY for those issues that preclude you waiting in the regular line. your being a veteran or with any percentage of disability based on the VA is meaningless.
