DIS VISA questions

Hi-

I have a Disney VISA card but have questions about rewards. DH has packed all financial info (moving in July) and doesn't know where the info is!

1. How do I get the rewards card, how long does it take to receive the card?
2. What points are credited? Only those that have been billed? Or just those from bills that have been PAID?
3. If I accrue more points after getting the rewards card, are they automatically posted to the card or do I have to request that they be transferred to the card? How can I do this?
4. Where in WDW can I use the points? Restaurants, gift shops, hotel bill, etc. or just for passes?

You can request your card by going to the Disney Bank One Website .

Log onto your account or register if you've never been there before.

From the Account Summary page, click on the first drop-down box and select "Manage Rewards". Click "GO".

Click the "Review Rewards Balance" button at the bottom of the next screen. A new window should open up.

From the drop-down box in the new screen, select "Order Rewards Items".

Click the "Add to Cart" button next to the Disney Rewards Card Logo. A the screen will change.

You can then transfer any amount of rewards dollars over $20 to the card by typing the amount into the empty box next to "Amount". Do not enter any decimals. If you have more than one Disney Rewards VISA accounts, they may both be visible in the drop-down box above the "amount" box. Select one account.

Click the "Add to Cart" button.

Make sure that the information that you have entered is correct. Click the "Checkout" button.


You can also call Cardmember Services at 1-800-436-7999 and have them do it over the phone.

2. What points are credited? Only those that have been billed? Or just those from bills that have been PAID?

My points have been credited to my account right after the billing cycle ends. The bill is not even paid when they show up. However, the bonus points that I have earned by purchasing groceries, gasoline, etc. have not been credited. Those should be done 6-8 weeks after the end of the billing cycle in which they were earned.

No, they do not automatically get placed on your rewards card. You actually have to transfer those new rewards dollars to the card. This can be done online by following the above steps but choosing to add the remaining rewards to your card rather than ordering a new one. You can also do it over the phone by calling customer service.

Right now, they can be used anywhere on WDW property that takes credit cards. You can pay for your room, meals, souvenirs or tickets with the rewards card. Naturally, as with all things Disney, there is a disclaimer that it is subject to change and rewards dollars can be used at "participating locations".

Does anyone know if when, the Dis card gives evtra points at teh Dis Store, if you get the extra points when buying ticket media, such as AP vouchers? I've been putting off buying them.

Last summer I got double points for purchasing park hopper tickets and Disney Dollars at the Disney Store.

I don't have a disney rewards visa but this sounds interesting. Can anyone tell me how the rewards add up? I assume it's not $ for $ as that would be too easy. So, how much do you have to charge on the card in order to get $1 worth of rewards? Can the rewards also be used at the disney store? Or only disney world?

Using the DV card gives you a 1% reward, so for every $100 you spend you get 1 reward dollar in return. You can earn more though as they round up using the DV so charges of $160 in month would give you 2 reward dollars.

They also often run promotions. I received one last month, but I don't think everyone did, but until June 30th I get 2% on combined charges over $150 each month and still earn 1% up to $150 each month.

You can spend the rewards dollars pretty much anyplace Disney owns including the parks, Disney stores, the Disney Store online and the Disney resorts.

What kind of interest rate is on the card? Do they ever have any balance transfer promotions? And do you get rewards for balance transfers?

Also, do the rewards expire? Could you store them up for a couple of years and then use them? Is there an annual maximum on how much you can earn?

The interest rate varies from person to person and is dependent upon your credit score.

There probably are offers for balance transfers (like 0%-low interest rate for 6 months). I don't remember b/c we don't carry a balance from one month to the next. That would sort of defeat the purpose of collecting any rewards. In general, rewards cards carry a higher interest rate than regular credit cards and so they aren't a good idea for transferring balances. There are no rewards for balance transfers or cash advances.

Rewards Dollars expire 60 billing cycles (5 years) after they are posted to your account, unless you've transferred them to a rewards card. Rewards dollars that have been transferred to the rewards card expire after Dec. 31 of the year following the year that they were transferred. In other words, if you transfer your rewards dollar to the rewards card on Dec. 15, 2004, they will expire on Dec. 31, 2005. If you transfer them on Jan. 15, 2005, the rewards dollars expire on Dec. 31, 2006.

Is there an annual maximum on how much you can earn?

Yes there is a maximum amount that you can earn per year. It's 750 rewards dollars which is the equivalent of charging $75,000 to the card annually.
