Disney's Vero Beach Resort is an amazing place.

You will find more information about it on the DVC forums. :)

We just stayed there a couple of weeks ago. We got the Birnbraum discount listed in the back of the book and I am pretty sure it was 200 per night. Great place.

We were in a Deluxe Inn room. Very nice with small kitchen area. They have great food outside by the pool and mini golf, pool slide and kiddie area. It was alot of fun for the little one. We went out one night to a great seafood place called the Ocean Grill. Have fun we loved it there.

Most Disney resorts have a AAA discount... Having never stayed at VB on cash though, I can't recall if this is absolutely true for them..

There are quite a few sites out there with pics and virtual tours of the resort... One is tangrel.com (take out the "n" in tangrel and you will get there..)

I take every opportunity I can to respond to this question. This is such a great place to stay. I have yet to find even one person who has a negative thing to say about it. It reminds me of staying at an all-inclusive Carribean Resort. Days go by and you realize you have never left the resort and never cared to.

We just returned from nine days at Vero, our first stay.

While I really enjoyed the resort, it's at best a pale shadow of a true, top of the line Caribbean family-focused all-inclusive.

I know this because we stayed at one (Beaches Turks and Caicos) a few years ago, and while Vero was nice, neither the beach, pool nor dining at Vero can hold a candle to what you get at Beaches. Four pools, including a massive seafront one with caves and a swim up bar, a world class diving program, different waterfront live entertainment every night, ten specialty restaurants, and accomodations that give the Beach Cottages at Vero a serious run for their money. The only downside it isn't cheap. Here's a few pictures:

The beach (which unlike Vero has water that is incredibly small child friendly):

Outdoor dining at one of the ten restaurants:

Don't get me wrong - I love DVC and Vero  , but Beaches ( and a handful of the other ultra high end Caribbean all inclusives) is still in a class the Disney resorts can only dream of aspiring to.

what's the name of that place, did you say beaches,is that the 1 you get a nanny with, seems wonderfull,,,

I stayed a week last summer at VB with a friend of mine who is a DVC member. It was that experience that really pushed me over from thinking about joining DVC to actually finding a way to do it. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever taken and the CM's that work there were just wonderful. The quality of service was top notch as were the facilities. We met quite a few people who came to VB to relax after a busy visit to WDW, a great idea which I may try next summer with my family!

It's Beaches, which is owned and run by the same privately held firm that runs Sandals. There are four locations, one in Turks and Caicos (the one we visited and which the pictures are from) and three in Jamaica. Fans of Beaches generally give the T&C property higher reviews than the Jamaica location (it's bigger with more extensive facilities, and has less of a "guarded compound" feel than the ones in Jamacia).

As for the "nannies" at Beaches, don't get the idea you get a private one to manage your kids 24/7! (Boy, would that be wonderful). Beaches uses the label "Ultra Nannies" for the staff in their children's programs; while the resort brags the nannies are all "trained and certified in accordance with an accredited U.S. university," I found them to be good -- but not great -- with my toddler son. Albeit the kids' program has grown in size and depth since we visited (they have a whole new section of the resort just for them now, inlcuding a mini-water park) so things may have gotten better.

As I mentioned in my prior post, the worst thing you can say about Beaches is how pricey it is. The cheapest time of year to go there is smack dab in the middle of hurricane season (late August through the end of October); a week then for a party of two adults, two kids in an entry level one bedroom suite will run about $4,500. At the other end of the spectrum, the same group in the same type of villa in mid February will run about $6,500. Interestingly, Sandals/Beaches tends to thrown in air as a loss leader, prices for both of these times with package air are only a little bit more than the room itself.

Whatever, the expense of our July stay years ago at Beaches was actually a principal factor in our subsequent decision to buy DVC (we like premium accomodations, but knew we couldn't afford to pay street prices for them every year).
