Dis treat pack for tween ds

Hello all, well....ds is officially a TWEEN! yay and yikes all at the same time!
Before our WDW trips, I always have a little treat pack for him. When he was younger, it would contain a ton of little Disney treats and goodies ie: nemo fruit chews, Disney pez, Cars lip balm, Disney mini activity/coloring books. BUT....he's getting bigger, and I don't want to bombard him with "baby stuff", but I don't want to skimp on the treats either. I thought of a mini-squirting water fan, Tic-tacs, Pez, but beyond that, I'm stuck. He has a DS (regular, not 3DS), so I was considering a new game to pass time while waiting for ADR's etc...but what else can I add? Does Disney have tween comic books, goodies treats that I can buy ahead of time? I'd like to give it to him the day before we go.Thanks for any help and ideas!!!

My tweens are girls, so I think they're a bit easier. They still like lip gloss, hair bows, Disney shirts and PJs, journals, etc. Boys do seem tougher.

I think the mini fan is a good idea. Maybe a Hidden Mickey or Disney trivia book? Or a "Kingdom Keepers" book? Quarters and pennies for pressed pennies? Homemade coupons for treats there, like a Mickey bar at DHS, Dole Whip at MK, Candy at Epcot (France and Italy both have a nice selection in the 20-50 cent range!) Good luck with your goodie bag!

I think you have the right ideas. You can also throw in some lip balm with sunscreen (chapstick) and flipflops for pool time (might be able to score some on sale). New sunglasses or a baseball cap? You could also think of a beach towel, which could serve as a blanket or pillow on the plane and is washable to get all those germs off. Hand sanitizer is a good option too. And for fun, why not make a photo scavenger hunt of selfies for him? He has to take selfies with Mickey, with a French CM, by the wishing well making a wish, eating a churro, on the train, finding a pearl, designing his ride vehicle on TT, him in a pirate hat, ride photos (non-selfies) on certain rides, trying the Beverly, etc. Might make a fun and awesome souvenir for him when all is said and done and he can make whatever goofy faces he wants.

And a pocket guide to hidden mickeys or something. I'll have to look into that. Keep those ideas coming!!!

I was also going to suggest the Hidden Mickey book and the Kingdom Keepers series.
Does he like to make the pressed pennies? Maybe coins to do that and containers to keep them in?
Does he trade pins? If so, maybe order a few new pins for him or a new lanyard.

Disney Gift card for WDW so he can shop for his own souveniers with "his $"

My 13yo son like soduku so I always pick up a smallish book of them for him to do while waiting, back at the hotel... same thing with 12yo DD but it's crosswords or word jumbles.

So, is he about 10-11? When DS was about that age, he loved doing the penny press. I like the idea of a gift card to let him make some choices, or maybe a home-made certificate for things like a mickey bar, or a t-shirt of his choice etc. A few snack things or maybe a water bottle if you guys carry those.

Yes, I'll definitely do a gift card! He'll want to choose pins when we get there, so that's definitely a no go, but he does like the pressed pennies , so maybe some change. He usually carries a Fannie pack-hip pack? So probably some sweet treats to eat to pass time in line. Ring pops, etc. It just seems like the older he gets, the harder it is to make goodie bags.

Pick up a tube of mini m&m's. For the first day its a snack, but the tube is the perfect size to hold quarters, pennies and pressed pennies.

Disney/marvel does have comic book. Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the weird. If he's into comics it might be something to look into.

Don't forget about Star Wars stuff! If he's into that, maybe a homemade coupon for the "make your own droid" in DHS. Or if he has an Iphone, you can always set some apps up for him to pass the time. There are lots of things at the "under $10" section in Target. Lego has a new line of Star Wars mini ships that include a mini-fig, like a little Milliuium Falcon with a Han Solo, and a tiny X-wing with Luke. It would give him something to put together on the plane.
(My husband and my son are both addicted to the Lego). The sets come in at around $5-$10, which is pretty cheap.

Snacks are good since tween boys are eating machines! A book to pass the time is always good. It's not Disney, but I think the Percy Jackson series is pretty good for adventurous young boys. Kingdom Keepers is a great choice too.

If you have any sudden great ideas, post them because I have a 2 year old boy who will eventually be a tween! I will need all the clever ideas I can get then!!

Thanks Bluegrrl! My ds does really like Star Wars, so that sounds fun. He'd love a little lego for the plane. ( and to pass time at ADR's while waiting for food etc.
Speaking of which--when ds was younger, we'd always have a little bag of things to do while waiting at restaurants, while in the resort, on plane, etc. in the bag we'd always have those tiny round to-go PlayDough, and a couple match box tractors, to "push" the PlayDough. He'd be content playing with that on an unused bread plate or on the table paper that some restaurants put down. Also, those tiny sticker and activitiy books that cost $1, Cracker Barrel usually had them on a big stand that turns. Also, a Lightning McQueen Keychain/flashlight. That was fun in the room and to have while waiting in darker lines. A few Playmobil people with accessories we'd keep in a little ziplock sandwich Baggie. Again, perfect for ADR's and again in the room. Little disney figures are great for that, too. Leapster disney games were fun to take with as well as he got bigger. Oh the memories! so many good times with our ds and his little take to go bag-as we'd call it!

Just saw the coolest treat for any young person that would be perfect for a wdw trip! It's a light up LED wristband. Kind of like the lights inside the glow cubes and nighttime spinners! Sooooo cool! Would be perfect during nighttime parades and shows. It was the size of a regular rubber sayings type wristband, about 1/3 inch wide, but clear , with a strip of Led color embedded in the middle of it. I'll post the brand as soon as I go back and buy it. Ds was wirh me yesterday checking out a new local toy shop and I wanted to surprise him.

Depends what you consider a tween? I have seen people consider 8 year olds tweens and others say 10-12 is a tween (typical around my area).
My almost 10 year old loves the Kingdom Keeper series! She also really enjoyed doing the sorcerers of Magic Kingdom game when we were there and likes playing with them still at home so that could be something (free!!) to keep him occupied while waiting for ADRS. My oldest still loves word finds and things like that but honestly there is so much there, I wouldn't have wanted to carry yet another thing into the park to keep them occupied when there is so much *there* to look at and explore.
I did pack them each a disney themed notebook and pen, I printed off a journal page to fill out each night with some prompts (so I didn't get "I had a lot of fun today!" everyday ), printed and bound our own Epcot passport books, they *loved* pin trading (I think a tween definitely still would, so a lanyard/pins would be great), the pressed penny stuff was a hit too (I printed the list of where to find which designs and they liked looking at that and picking favorites).
