Dis Team needs more Diversity

Here we go again.

OP if you really find so many problem with the team why do you continue to listen?

Also the team is full of a lot of diversity, there are young, old, straight, LGBT, married, single, widowed, parents, non-parents.

I'm just amazed at the things people will pick apart about a free podcast.
Totally agree with what's said here, especially about the "already diverse" comments,and exactly what i was thinking - well-stated!

In addition to thinking The Team IS already pretty diverse, I'll just say that while a free product "owes" us/me/you/all of us nothing, and we can watch/not watch (but that's already been stated a ZILLION times before!) it's MUCH more important to me to have already-excellent but always expanding and improving content, and fair, balanced, intelligent, reasonable reviews and views of things presented in a manner I can respect and understand than it would EVER be for something to be "politically correct or diverse" JUST to be so, instead of being so to improve upon an already outstanding and FREE product. Not to mention all of their generosity of time, talent, and resources to continue to raise awesome amounts of money for a spectacular cause.

Soapbox off, and amen.

I mean this in a truly serious, honest and non-sarcastic way (I know, rare coming from me) but OP, have you reached out to Pete or John directly about all the grievances you have regarding the show? They welcome feedback (both here and via direct email) and they often quote their own personal email addresses, and you don't seem to be getting much traction here, so perhaps a direct dialogue with Pete would garner some more satisfying responses?
Of course, as our wonderful mods have mentioned many times, you're obviously welcome to post your feedback here, just a suggestion that may gain you a better response?

Why isn't there an Australian on the show?
I DEMAND that Pete hires me... For diversity of course! :)

What minority groups are not represented? Non-AP holders? Non-DVC Members? Non-Florida residents? Non-Disney Fans? Non-red-heads?

Why does there need to be any categories of groups? There does not.

I pose this question, does Jimmy Fallon need to rotate with guest "minority" hosts on the "Tonight Show" on a daily basis?

wow I couldnt have said it better. Pretty diverse group if you ask me!! My question is this...when these threads come up where they question something about the team... Do they really think we will be sympathetic to them? We are a fiercely loyal bunch to the team!

Anyone else feel this way?

I don't see any minority groups represented on their panel

You're right, I don't see anyone representing the following groups:
Tibetan monks;
Somali refugees;
Syrian refugees;
Hungarian circus workers;
Native Alaskan Eskimos’;
Hare Krishna monks;
American Somoan Whalers;
Pete needs to get his act together and make sure everyone is represented.

I'm constantly amazed by people who get all PC and offended about these things when they themselves don't belong to said minority groups (however, I clearly have no idea what race, religion or sexual orientation OP is, I'm not getting the vibe that you're Asian, Latino or black otherwise you'd have probably mentioned that by now)

My opinion? (Because we're all entitled to one right?) I don't like peas, or cinnamon. Hate them with a passion!!
I don't eat peas and for the most part, I avoid cinnamon at all costs. I don't intentionally Ingest something I dislike so much.
Just a thought.
i know right.......i dislike onions VERY strongly. So you know what???? I DONT EAT THEM!! Lol You clearly have an issue with the team so maybe this podcast isnt for you.... Cinnamon Jes?? Do the koalas with clymidia chase you around with cinnamon sticks or something?? Ha

I was very disappointed the first time I flew that there were no Hare Krishnas handing out flowers in the airport. So I agree there needs to be more of them represented :flower3:

We dont have any Mongolian yak herders on the show as well, but they dont usually get out that much. The team does a wonderful job on this for free. You are more than welcome to start your own staffed by whomever of whatever criteria you choose . It doesnt come overnight and is never easy. Lets compare your charitable contributions to theirs.

Personally, I'm not a fan of people being put in boxes.
I am white. I am a female. I am Jewish. I am a Yankees fan. I'm a Potter addict. I'm a runner. But those are just part of me, they do not define me.
People are a combination of their interests, their experiences, and yes, their heritage. But a person cannot be defined by a particular characteristic, whether that's the color of their skin, a particular interest, their socioeconomic background, their sexual orientation, or anything else. A person is an individual, not just a list of words, labels, or boxes.

To me, demanding that a show include more "diversity" is just putting people into boxes. Sometimes "diversity" is used a way of saying that you don't care about an individual's personality, just what "boxes" they fit into, and I don't want to watch a show that only cares about the boxes.
On the other hand, bringing together a group of different (or diverse if you really want to use that word), well-rounded individuals (which I believe the show does) is something to be admired. Every member of the show has their own unique personality, and I love that they share so much of that with us!

Lol no. I just hate it. And nutmeg. Terrible stuff

Not for nothing but I thought Disney was suppose to a beacon of diversity

It's just disturbing that none of this is being shown on the show

i find hippocrtical that we can wear rainbow shirts yet not have anyone of color being represented

Is the Dis only meant for a certain demographic? I sure hope not. So why don't Pete and the team reach out to these other communities.

They have

They have

Salty language , Burberry have made it on the show
And Ryno issued a formal apology on his Dispop show for crude language

I pointed this out once, and people (or one person) said it would be racist just get someone on the show JUST because they are black, asian, etc.

...

Anyhow, yes, the Dis is vERy vanilla, but I mean, they do have old, young, gay, straight on the shows.
I don't believe it is a conscious decision of course, but it is something to be noticed.

You're assuming that Oliver beat out a line of non white people to get his job or something, for example.

I have a feeling the OP is a troll and just wanted to get the attention he/she is getting on this thread.
I hate it when true discussions about people of color get reduced to silly things like this. It's disrespectful.
I truly believe the show has represented the gay community in ways I think many have not experienced. I think the show has opened many hearts and minds.
