A couple of points. The map above showing land that has been set aside for conservation, those areas can change and have changed over the years. So just because now they are set aside, does not mean that in the future land could be redesignated for other purposes (note Disney has bought land recently so they could use as part of the conservation they promised even though the land is not directly attached to the WDW footprint). Second, WDW does not need another gate, they need to finish the existing parks. Animal Kingdom has what 7 rides which include the Triceratops spinner. This park could easily support another 6 rides, they all do not need to be E ticket but a couple should be. Hollywood studio is in same boat with some 8 rides and that includes Star Tours. Make these parks full day destinations instead of a half day.

Very good points. Adding attractions to existing parks makes more sense than having to develop the whole infrastructure needed to build a new park.

These points I agree the. The problem is Disney doesn't seem interested in doing it. If they do decide to add more, it will take them years to get it done.

It’s not just for conservation it’s also currently unsuitable for construction. Not saying they couldn’t construct in those areas but the costs and time needed would be even more astronomical to do so.

The area on that map that makes the most sense is to the NW of Big Thunder mountain which was loosely discussed at D23. That’s an area to expand MK (not that it needs more guests).

Just spitballing here, but a couple of golf courses could be relocated to areas not suitable for construction. There are two courses to the south and west of the TTC parking area.

Have faith!! Someone will figure it out, like was done in 1984 and 2004. There's too much brand equity there that someone will eventually recognize and capture. Otherwise DIS cruises wouldn't command 2X pricing over competitors.

LOS ANGELES, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Director James Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar: The Way of Water" pulled in $17 million at U.S. and Canadian box offices from its first showings on Thursday night, distributor Walt Disney Co said.

With international sales, the sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time has generated $50.4 million at theaters around the globe since the movie started rolling out on Wednesday.

Thursday's domestic tally was below recent Disney release "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," a Marvel superhero film that racked up $28 million on its first evening in November.

Hollywood's big question is whether "The Way of Water" can recoup its massive production and marketing costs. Studios split ticket sales with theaters, and Cameron told GQ magazine that "The Way of Water" will need to make $2 billion just to break even.

Sales from first-night screenings do not always correlate with the final tally, particularly around the Christmas holiday season. Box office experts predict "The Way of Water" will play in theaters for several weeks, as the original movie did, which will be key to earning back its budget. The sequel should end the opening weekend with at least $140 million from domestic theaters, forecasters
said.
"The Way of Water" was released 13 years after the first film wowed audiences with pioneering 3D technology. It remains the all-time box office champion with $2.9 billion in global ticket sales.

Hopefully the BO forecasts take into account the 3+ hour run time that will reduce how many daily showing a theater can have.

This false savior crap is so old. Iger does not point out any specific things Chapek was incompetent to do. You pick and trained him for the transition Iger. Just saying fans did not like him points to Chapek being the fall guy.
The love being lost for the brand started before Chapek.
Remember "Shanghai'd" being a term? That was Igor's "I did it." Baby so he would not.admit the negative public perception about that.

Chapek fixed nothing, but the things you don't like going on in the parks were initiated and produced by Iger.

Never forget Bob Iger quit suddenly without reason just before COVID-19 hit the closure level he knew was coming and has come back twice now when he can look like a savior.

I have said similar before - all the changes over the last few years were at least approved by 1.0 (and his underlings) if not initiated by him. To be fair, 2.0 did a few things that went further than 1.0 would have - the internal reorg that consolidated power under his #2 and the crazy subscriber target he set, 3 times higher than 1.0's.
I have also said it is crazy that Iger failed so miserably at picking and training a successor. He announced his retirement many times and many years ago, how could he get it so wrong?

Chapek fixed nothing, but the things you don't like going on in the parks were initiated and produced by Iger.

I think that's overstated a bit - a CEO of a company as large as Disney is not initiating and producing every single change, maybe he approved them but even those may have been initiated and approved by underlings.

Never forget Bob Iger quit suddenly without reason just before COVID-19 hit the closure level he knew was coming and has come back twice now when he can look like a savior.

I think that's a bit overstated too, he had put in for retirement again and again over many years (first time in 2011!), everyone should have been well prepared for it pandemic or not.

'Avatar: The Way Of Water’ Sees $180M Global Through Friday, On Way To $400M+ WW Bow – International Box Office

SATURDAY UPDATE: James Cameron’s Avatar sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, added eight further material international box office markets on Friday to fill out the global landscape. Through yesterday, the anticipated return to Pandora has amassed $127.1M from a total 52 offshore markets, and $180.1M worldwide when factoring in domestic.

Given the previously noted swing of China and also the appointment-viewing element of this Disney/20th Century Studios movie, opening weekend projections have dropped to around $280M

Disney’s estimates put The Way of Water’s first three offshore days at 83% above Avatar, 69% ahead of Top Gun: Maverick, 59% over Jurassic World Dominion and 39% behind Spider-Man: No Way Home on a like-for-like basis.

While this start is not where it was originally estimated, in general, there have been encouraging holds and positive audience reaction which bodes well for legs in the coming weeks.

Notably, and not included in the totals above, Korea saw a 94% uptick from Friday to Saturday, bringing the local cume to $17.3M through Saturday.

China added another $20.5M on Saturday, not included above, for a $44M gross so far.

Breaking down markets through Friday, Asia Pacific opened No. 1 everywhere — India had the second-highest debut day on Friday for a Hollywood movie, behind only Avengers: Endgame.

In the UK, WOW took the 4th highest Friday opening day in 2022, and in Spain it notched the 2nd highest industry opening day ever (behind only Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness).

The Top 10 markets through Friday are: China ($23.5M), Korea ($9.8M), France ($9.5M), Germany ($8.5M), India ($5.9M), Mexico ($5.9M), Australia ($5.4M), UK ($4.5M), Italy ($4.5M) and Brazil ($3.7M).
