DIS Radio DIScontinued?

We are still on Snow days and my 2DS and I are listening again and when I told them this might be our last day listening they cried

They said there will be nothing good to listen to on the computer! I agree...

I am so sad! I listen to DIS everyday at work. I've tried other stations, but the music isn't as good. This is the only thing that gets me through work somedays. Oh, please, is there some way to keep DIS Radio going??? Please???

Now this is a real bummer. I don't remember any discussion about financial problems with the site, or efforts to try and salvage same. Obviously it had become too much to handle.

This has been discussed on the podcast and here on the Dis Unplugged board prior to this announcement.

I do recall a couple of times when you guys encouraged everyone to listen and also threads about how to get it on the Iphone, but I don't recall a thread or discussion about it going away. This really took me by surprise.

That being said - I am still accessing it right now directly from live 365 for now. yay!

I also can't recall them saying DisRadio was going away on the podcast. If someone knows the shows they talked about it on I would be interested too. As of now I still am listening on itunes radio.

I'm still on with 365Live. The last thing I can remember about DISRadio on the show was that Pete said he had received quite a bit of positive feedback about the current playlists and was planning on keeping them for a while.

I don't recall it being discussed on the podcast either. Last I remember, Pete asked for volunteers to help run it.

For those missing DIS radio, there are good alternatives- I like Sorcerer Radio, and all the Mouseworld stations are very good as well.

Yeah.... it being canceled was certainly NOT discussed on the podcast, at least in the last few months. Pete talked at one point about a court ruling that could end up making it unaffordable, but that was quite a while ago. In the past few months there haven't been any warning that it would go away. They are certainly not under any obligation to announce such decisions on the podcast though. Oh well. It was REALLY nice to listen to, and it was daily dinner music at our house. Hopefully we can find a suitable replacement.

As you know now - I've decided to discontinue DIS Radio. The fact is it's just be come too expensive to justify. It's not a matter of 'financial trouble' or anything else - it just didn't make sense to keep spending the money on it.

Totally understandable...I work in the hosting business, and bandwidth costs. And EVERYONE wants their cut.
