Dis Pins!!

Hi!

I notice that many of you would like to show your pride that you are on the DIS Discussion Boards... so I had an idea!

How many of you would be interested in having a Custom designed DIS Pin? I thought about this and thought how great this would be for everyone to show they are DIS members and meet other DIS families while they are on vacation.

Well, I have been looking around and figured I could have a bunch of them made up for about $6.00 each + shipping... about 3/4" large.... but I would need to buy them in a large order (200+). These would be nice metal pins similar to the Disney type!

What do you think?

I sent them a message about 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard from them.

I don't think they will mind. It's not like we are competing against them for anything. I just want to provide a service to everyone! I think this will benefit all... and free advertising for the DIS board!

Pass the word... I think this is great for everyone!

Vince (Parkhopper) has made a very nice DIS pin trading pin. He will send one to anyone who asks and sends him another Disney pin in return.

Do you have Vince's e-mail address? I would love to trade for one of his pins. Does anyone have a picture of the pin? Since I have discovered DIS I spend more time on my computer than I do with my family.

Okay, I do post every once in a while about this and I guess it is time to do it again. I have the following DIS Member Pin Trader pin available for trade:

I have been trading the DIS pin for over a year now and I do have permission from Webmaster Pete to trade these pins only, no sales are allowed. The pin is available for trade in exchange for any Disney pin of your choice, just like a Cast Member lanyard trade. Just e-mail me if you need more information or would like to trade for one.

Here's another thing we haven't posted in a while for those who are relatively new to the boards. A long time ago. Pre-Parkhhopper pin days we all wanted someway to recognize one another. you know the old carnation in the lapel routine, so a lime green ribbon was attached on the trader. That is why you see lime green name tags, ribbons, mouse ears, and of course, Vince/Suzi's lime green DIS pin. So look for lime green. Some of us old timers still look for it. I personally have green rubber mouse ears ID tag on my bags. You see people with it on their trading bags, on their strollers, just on their collar. Approach them it may be one of us. If not, just lose yourself in the crowd, in a minute they'll never know who you are. LOL

Hmm--I know I posted on this yesterday but my comment seems to have disappeared. I'd definitely be interested in your pins, RussDog. Let us know if you get an OK to go ahead with this idea. Also would like to get one from Parkhopper. I love collecting pins!!

I have lime green ID tags that are on my pin bags, so athey serve a duo purpose. The lime green can be spotted AND if I lose my bag it/I can be identified/notified. I see people with little loops of lime green on their lapel (or where a lapel might be if there weren't in casual clothing)

I could be grossly mistaken, but when I see a person with a Parkhopper DIS pin they are almost ALWAYS pin traders and believe it or not there ARE several other forums on the DIS than the Collectors board go figure!

Seriously I don't notice as many of them as I did before, but in our earlier days it has been known as an identifier. I have gotten quite comfortable going up to a complete stranger if they have a green ribbon on their stroller or wheelchair and asking them if the are registered on one of Pete's boards. If the look at me quizzically I will then offer "the DIS?". If the light bulb doesnt go on I tell them I thought they were the people I was meeting and chat for a moment and then disappear into the crowd. No one has ever acted offended. They expect friendliness from complete strangers there.

Currently the only official DIS merchandise can be found here.

The only DIS pin currently available is the one from Parkhopper mentioned earlier in this thread.

If Pete decides to sanction any other DIS pins, you can be sure we will make an announcement.

No pins bearing the DIS name can be made (or sold) without the express written consent of Pete. Until you get his consent (and as Matthew said, there already is a pin that Pete gave Parkhopper permission to do) please do not solicit this.
