Wow that's not very far from home. We often have to travel more than that for Drs and Hospitals. At least you're allowed out.

Everything else OK?

Some pics from my roadtrip before we went back into lockdown.

Some of you may have heard of Hanging Rock. No, I didn't have a picnic!

The Silo Art Trail is the largest outdoor art gallery. It stretches for over 200 km. Effectively, think rally car driving and the silos are the pitstops and you've got an idea of what this day was like. But the silos are really cool pieces of artwork.

It wasn't all about chasing silos. I was chasing colour at Sea Lake. It's a salt lake that is supposed to have beautiful reflections at sunrise, sunset and for the stars.

Sadly, it wasn't to be for me. There was no water and it was completely clouded over.

Still.....

MungoDay2-92.jpg

I think this was the best of the "sunset" colour I got.

MungoDay2-113.jpg

That was the only pop of red/pink we got.

MungoDay2-114.jpg

It was just overcast. There was to be no astro shooting this night.

MungoDay2-115.jpg

Hopeful for early morning at Sea Lake.

MungoDay3-1.jpg

Hopeful being the operative word!
I wasn't the only one.....
MungoDay3-7.jpg

I might not have gotten glorious colour but I am super delighted with these.

The reason for the trip was to head to Mungo National Park. This NP is as remote as it can get. It's at least 60 - 70km of dirt road to get out to the NP and there is NOTHING out there.

It used to be an inland lake. Completely dried out now.

MungoDay3-35.jpg

At the Great Wall of China, there are these lunette features. Sand humps that are formed from wind and sand movement.

MungoDay3-36.jpg

MungoDay3-37.jpg

Clear, cloudless skies do not make for interesting sunsets. So, all I did was shoot the changing colour along the Great Wall during sunset.

The next day? A completely different story and completely different colour palettes!

This was sunrise.

MungoDay4-1.jpg

Wispy clouds.

MungoDay4-2.jpg

Beautiful colour on the horizon.

MungoDay4-3.jpg

Sunset? Even better!

Heaps of interesting clouds around!

MungoDay4-87a.jpg

We watched the lunettes start to colour up as the sun set.

MungoDay4-89.jpg

And were rewarded with glow!

MungoDay4-89a.jpg

The clouds coloured up even more.

MungoDay4-90a.jpg

Such as interesting sky!

MungoDay4-92.jpg

Irrespective of the day weather, the night sky was amazing.

This was from the back of my accommodation on the first night.

MungoDay3-59.jpg

This was on the second night, near an abandoned wool shed.

MungoDay4-297.jpg

The pick of the colour was sunrise on day 2.

MungoDay5-1.jpg

This will probably make my 2021 calendar.

MungoDay5-4.jpg

All in all, it was well worth the trip out to Mungo!

Those are stunning pics even with the slight disappointment at Sea Lake. Love the painted silos too. A few of them should make your next calendar.

Very nice pictures! I'm not sure how you folks enforce locking found, but it seems to be much more efficient than the US. We are pathetic and it's mostly because citizens don't belive there is a threat and refuse to comply. And Law Enforcement mostly sides with the non compliant so they don't enforce it.

We are going to be continually set back because of the fools who refuse to believe science.

I would think the population size of Australia is a little easier to deal with since it's less than California or Texas.

Hey peeps.

Still in lockdown. And yes. There are a number of people out there that don't believe in the science. I live with one of them and so I know there is no arguing with them. Besides, everyone is entitled to their opinion. There is so much known and unknown out there that its hard to separate fact from fiction.

People in Victoria/Melbourne seem to be much more compliant. But after 6 of these lockdowns, it starting to weigh down on everyone.
At least.....the vaccine availability is increasing. So, we are now in the race to get to 70 - 80% vaccinated. Who knows what will happen then?
I've always said it's a case of when we catch covid, not if.

But otherwise, life continues the best we can.

NOT IF.....BUT.. hey that makes for a great bumper sticker....but rarely is a bumper sticker seen.

thank you for your hardwork on the photos.

I live with one also....though my body is already full of experimental drugs so I am exempt ...so I can't judge

Sorry to hear you're still locked down PIO. I'm getting tired of everyone thinking only their way of thinking is right on every subject. Like you we have a couple in our family that's not trusting the vaccine and to each their own. I'm hoping once was enough for me as I don't want to have COVID again.
