Dis Mom's Club?

Hi saysib! Like VirataMama4 said, yes you can take snacks and there are other rules about items not allowed in the parks.

In Disney's Animal Kingdom theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted."

HTH! :)

:thumbsup2 Thanks! You know, not that I wuld have thought about taking a balloon into AK, but its something I wouldnt have thought about them not having them for the animals safety!

For years I have used just a lanyard to walk around the parks with....now Im considering a hip pack.....what do all of you use?

I am going to take a fanny pack with me, this is our first family trip. I think a fanny pack will be the easiest for me that way I don't have to worry about leaving anything behind in the stroller while we ride:) In the fanny pack I can stick my mini sunblock, spf lip balm, cash, and anything else small I may need.

I used to use a tote or small backpack. This year I took a sling style pack. I liked it because I could get into it without taking it off and it was easy to slip on and off for rides.

I did it Princess Moms! I registered for the Princess Half Marathon! YIKES! I'm really going to run 13.1 miles. :scared1:

Yeah Colleen!!!!!!!

I am a backpack kind of girl, but I am also a notorious over packer and could never fit all my "stuff" in a fanny pack. :rotfl:

:cool1: Yay!! My half marathon plans aren't looking so great because I got major knee and ankle pain (on the same leg) during my 3rd week of training and now every time I even start walking for more than 15 mins it starts hurting... :confused3 I haven't been to the Dr yet but I'm going to try walking again on Sunday. I hope I can do it!!!

Me again, looking for advice :thumbsup2 Our trip is kinda a last minute thing - only booked a couple weeks ago to leave October 1st. I want to make some dining reservations, but cannot get the website to do anything. I have sat the past 3 days with it running in the background for over an hour each time and it keeps just saying 'searching for tables' I have tried a wide search of just park and meal time, I have tried specific restraunts with an exact time and I'm getting nowhere. I live in the UK so calling could get very expensive if I have to keep hanging up and redialling. Am I doing something wrong on the website? Is it always this slow? I've even tried different times of the day, which I had hoped would be an advantage with my time difference. Any advice I would be very greatful!

Are you using the new Firefox 5.0? If so, use Internet Explorer. For some reason the new FireFox is not working with Disney's reservation system! :confused3 I did the same thing for days, until I finally read about it on the restaurant boards.:surfweb:

My Monster turns 4 on the 28th and we're having his party tomorrow! I looked at doing Chuck E Cheese, but couldn't imagine paying $14 per kid and then paying for the adults, so I decided just to do it in the backyard with a BBQ. It would be cheaper and more relaxed... I came up with the "great" idea  to have a pinata and I'd make it myself. I did one back in high school and I had all the components, so how hard could it be? :rolleyes1 Well I have been working on this stupid pinata for a week now and I still have more "tissuing" to do! We had to rent table and chairs, since we didn't have enough. It wasn't too bad since we could rent them from the MWR on base, but not a expense I figured in when calculating this "cheaper" party. We of course had to buy burgers and hot dogs with all the buns, and now I'm realizing that this party is costing me around $200-250 :faint:, not including the presents... Luckily, I shop year round for all my kids and never pay full price for most of their presents. And now its supposed to be over 100 degrees with a heat index around 110-120 tomorrow!!! :headache: So now, I'm looking to have to bring the party indoors and find ways to entertain 10-15 kids of all ages. :scared1:

The only thing that makes it all worth it, is my 13 yr old DD asking me to make her a pinata for her 16th birthday! YAY, I'm not a complete idiot! I can do something right by my teen DD! :rotfl::rotfl:

Now, I'm off to try and finish tissuing my Pokeball pinata! And next time I have a "great" idea I'm going to rethink it and let someone else plan the party!:lmao:

I also normally carry my lanyard, and hubby carries a sling pack. This year I'm thinking of a Vera Bradley MiniHipster, small, soft, cute, and with none of the fanny pack stigma! :lmao:

Thank you so much VirataMama I now have a couple of reservations made and I'm decideding on a few others :cloud9:

As for making a Pinata, you so have to post us pics! That sounds wonderful! My DD turns 4 in October and I'm thankful we'll be out of the country for her birthday with all the party demands she has been making

I must admit my shortfall... I have no clue how to post pics! LOL But I can post a link to my FB page and I'll have pics there!

Ok, so I need some advice and reassurance... As some of you know, my DH is in the Navy and right now we're stationed in MD, but we're up for new orders in Sept time and will be moving around April-June of 2012... We move every 3 years. We've been looking and scouting, hoping by some miracle we'd get Jacksonville or Mayport, but it's been looking like New Orleans is our best bet and closest to WDW so far. My DH is doing safety right now, normally is in aviation electronics, but he is LOVING safety. The Navy has spent thousands on his "safety education" but safety is only a 2 year spot, so in Nov. they are moving him back to the aviation spot. Well, today he was offered orders for Ground Safety for the wing in Ft. Worth, TX by the Wing Safety Commander (BIG BOSS for safety)! I'm so proud of him and all he's accomplished since going back into the Navy... BUT it is in TEXAS! :scared1: The one place I swore I'd NEVER move to or visit. Biggest reason is his mother lives there and I do NOT get along with her. She is very religious almost cult like, but along with that she is very judgmental. To the point that all her daughter-in-laws are the "evil" because we've "taken" her sons from her. Its also farther from WDW then I ever want to be again... Our goal for this next move was to be closer not 5 hrs farther away... :sad1: We haven't had a chance to talk it over, but I'm really sick over the whole thing. It will also be my DD's high school years, so we had talked about the kids and I staying an extra year where ever we end up so that she can finish her senior year with all the same friends...
Please help me with the positives about TX!

First, let me applaud you for the party and pinata you're getting ready for! I know the last thing you want to do is add more expense to the preparations but maybe you can get one of those awning things to set up to give you some shade and/or get one of those misting hoses set up to help with the heat so that you don't have to deal with everyone being inside. Let the kids play with water guns to help stay cool?? Just some ideas!

Next, I live in TX (up more North, in the panhandle) so I feel your pain about being so far away from WDW! I keep saying i want to move to FL but unless I find an awesome job there, I can't really make that move JUST because I want to be close to Disney World.....or can I?? Hee hee! I really like living in TX because I prefer warmer weather and hate snow! It doesn't snow here as much as it does in MD! I really like the Dallas/Ft Worth area! I have family near Dallas and visit them a few times a year. I'm sorry you have the mother-in-law issue....that would drive me nuts but if I were in your position I'd probably try to find ways to make it work since it seems to be a really great position for your husband! Good luck in whatever you all decide! :grouphug:

Its finally D-O-N-E! Here is a link to the pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/65539829@N03/with/5965411525/

zianha, thank you for your suggestions for the party tomorrow. I am planning on having the kiddie pool set up and was thinking of getting a slip and slide for the older kids. I also think we'll look into renting a few shelter things and some of the misting fans. I think the fans are only $15 or so each for the day...

We've also decided that DH will tell the Commander that he will take the offer for TX. The Navy has been real big about your "intentions" with your career and such lately, and I think it would be a black mark on his record so to speak to turn it down. Besides that I think DH would really enjoy the "job" itself... And really who can say that they were "chosen" in the Military! ;)

I do have to ask about the schools in TX. We were really hoping for FL for the school magnet school program that the high schoolers can graduate high school with their associates degree. DH's cousin just did this. Anyways, DH's mom said there was a similar program offered in TX. Does anyone know if this is true? Thank you!

Oo! Oo! Count me in too! Hi there DisMoms!

I'm Lauren and I have a son, Joshua (4) and a daughter, Evelyn (14 months). We went on our first WDW vacation this last April and I'm a total addict!

Josh loves everything Toy Story and Cars. When he met Buzz for the first time it was like he was meeting his hero. So cute!

Ev is as curious as can be and loves girly things which I couldnt be more pleased about since I'm a bit of a girly girl myself.

The rest of our life is spent with our close family and friends and doing all things *band.* :)

Your pinata is awesome!!! My boys like Pokemon too! They would love that but I don't have the patience to make my own pinata! :lmao:

I'm sure the schools in the Ft Worth area have a similar program to what you described because here in my little town, the high school students can take dual credit classes and after high school graduation have enough credits to have or almost have an associates degree.

Love the pics! I may even attempt a piñata someday!!! Congrats on accepting the new job.

Welcome Lauren!!!
