Dis Mom's Club?

Off the subject of the Princess 1/2 marathon bc I can discuss it on that thread. When you all got WDW do any of you do the LGMH (lime green Mickey head) to show you are a Dis member? I have seen a Disdad shirt before. Is there Dismom shirt designs?

I've never done it, but have thought about it each trip. There isn't a shirt for the Dismoms, but there should be!

I have never done the lime green mickey heads, but I have seen them. I like the idea.

So what does everyone do with the lime green Mickey's? Just put them on their stuff? Maybe I will make some for our next trip. I think we will be there the last week in August if DH ever books his parent's time share. I NEED to make ADRs. I have never planned a trip on such short notice. But I am so psyched we are going :dance3: Did I mention we are driving? 4 kids and problaby about 16-17 hours in the car :scared1: Thank goodness for DVD players and DSes.

Hi Moms,

I just have to vent for alittle bit... My DH has 2 kids from a previous marriage, AJ, DSS12 and Kira, DSD5. Since we've moved to MD, we have them for the Summer and every other Winter break.

Anyways, I was in Oregon this past week visiting family and friends and picking up the stepkiddos. Dh's ex dropped them off on Monday night at my mom's. She tells me that it is Kira's bath night, Ok no problem. DH's ex gets ready to leave and gives Kira a hug and says "Oh yea, you need a bath." A little later I get Kira ready for the bath and she smells like really bad body odor. :scared1: I didn't say anything and figured I'd give her a bath and see how it is later. I give her a bath, put her in new pjs and send her to bed. In the mean time, my mom is talking to her brother, AJ, and he tells her that Kira always stinks really bad and has for a long time. Well, the next morning she gets up and I am blown away by the smell again! Now, I'm concerned and I talk to DH and he says we'll take her to the Dr. while she is with us... I just can't believe that her mother hasn't said anything to us or taken her to the Dr to see what is causing this problem. She is only 5 and should not be smelling like a teenage boy who just got done playing football in 90 degree weather!

Then I ask her if the kids need anything and she tells me that AJ, 12, needs underwear, which is the same thing he needed in January when I asked. :rolleyes1 She says that she just bought him some but he is growing so fast that they are now tight... I say ok, what size does he wear, she says 14-16. So, imagine my shock when I go through his suitcase and almost all of his clothes are size 12 and are the clothes I bought him for back to school in July 2010! :headache: The only things that fit him are a pair of swim trunks DH's mom bought in March when the kids were with her in TX and some long sleeve shirt that is actually too big for him. His socks are over a year old, they are the same one I bought him when he was here last year, and are brown and CRUNCHY! Yes, I said crunchy socks. :confused3 His shoes were disgusting and falling apart, also the same ones I bought in July 2010 for back to school and are size 5.5. :scared1: What 12 year old boy has EVER worn the same size shoe/clothes for a year??? So its up to us to buy him things that fit, so off to the store we go last night. He actually wears a size 16, 14s are to tight in the waist and he wears a size 7 shoe!
I also go through Kira's clothes and hers seem to fit, they are just old (most I bought or were the same one sent with her last April), stained and have holes. Luckily, I already had clothes for her at home, knowing I was going to have to buy some for Summer. Her shoes were some sort of "shape-ups" that were a size too small and falling apart.
I just don't get how a mother could do this to her kids. I know she is struggling financially, since she only works at a small coffee shop making coffee drinks, but she smokes like a chimney and used her tax return as a down payment for a 2011 Ford Focus... Besides she get child support from us, and state assistance.

I'm so angry and frustrated with her!:headache::mad:

VirataMama4 - Your start broke my heart. Those poor kids. They are so lucky that they have you and DH's family around to be sure that their needs are met. (((HUGS)))

I have never heard of the green Mickey heads to identify DISers, but I may have some made up for our next trip. :upsidedow

VirataMama4,

I'm going to sound like I am taking up for the children's mother but there is two sides to every story. Unfortunately, I have seen/ heard a lot worse w/ my career. I have also seen horrible relationships go from bad to good. I always recommend the non offending parent to stick out an olive branch such as calling & asking do the kids need anything such as food, clothes,..... I also suggest sending grocery gift cards (food stamps are not enough & do not cover hygiene & cleaning products. Also, get the kids size & send clothing. But, then there is she may have put the worst thing on them bc she wants you all to buy them all new stuff. She may want to play the marter role. Try to be the bigger person.

I was also the product of an extremely ugly divorce. My mom was struggling & my dad's theory was he pays child support. When I became an adult I saw where they were both wrong. My mom was a matter & my dad was a selfish idiot. When I had my oldest I told them they had to learn to get along or they were not welcome at my house. He admitted he was wrong & she agreed to let it go. Not the best outlooks but 9 years later they have become friends. They talk weekly & every holiday. They help one another w/ simple things such as giving each other a ride when the others car/ truck is in the shop.

I hope it gets better for the kids & your family.

Just found this group - Can I join in?

Me, Angie, 34 - Lover of all things Disney, full time job, full time mom..
DH, Chris, 40 - "Converted" to a lover of all things Disney
DS, Jarrott, 10 - light of my life. He's ADHD, so he's a handful.. not so good at waiting in lines!

We live in Louisiana, somewhere between New Orleans and Baton Rouge!

We'll be taking our next trip in November this year, 13th to 18th.
It will be my 3rd trip with DH, and Jarrott's second trip, he last went in 2007.
We're staying at POR this trip, first time, have previously stayed offsite, All Star Movies and Caribbean Beach!

I think my DH needs a support group! He is a Disdad junkie. He is even friends w/ them on FB. :rotfl:

Now he is growing out his goatee to be like Cpt. Jack Sparrow. :dance3:He wants it to have braids. Jokingly, I said he could get it wrapped w/ the thread stuff at WDW in October & he thought it was a fabulous idea. I am not attracted to Johnny Depp but I am Capt. Jack. It's all about the character. I guess it will either deter my attraction or rev it up. Now keep in mind my dh works for a university & is in front of people a LOT. Also, he is a reader for our TELEVISED Mass/ church. He also coaches our kids soccer & basketball. Can you imagine? I'm sure his fellow disdads are supporting this. Keep in mind when I was a kid my dad had a Freddy Fender mustache then he eventually went for the Burt Reynolds look from Smokey & the Bandit to be complete w/ 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Not joking. God help me & my children. :scared1::laughing::banana::rotfl::dance3:

He's friends with my DH on FB. They really have a weird connection but it seems innocent.

Not sure I would approve of the goatee so good luck to you.

About the stinky girl...it may be beyond her mother's control

My middle daughter is a stinky girl too. It's crazy and even as a toddler I'd change her out of her jammies..and OMG she'd stink! Now she's 11 and we finally have a solution! She has to swab her armpits with vinegar. I read it online and it really does work. The vinegar kills the bacteria hiding in her armpits. First she scrubs with soap and water, rinses, applies vinegar with a cotton ball, rinses, pats dry and puts on deodorant once she gets out of the shower. The smell from the vinegar dissipates after a few minutes. It has worked miracles. She's heading into middle school next year which can be tough years for girls. I didn't want her teased or anything for have BO..:scared1:

She's good now..no more stinky! :woohoo:

I'm not saying that it was her mom's fault, but at age 5, she shouldn't be stinking that way, there possibly could be a more serious problem then just stinking. A visit to her DR is necessary, and her mother should know that. Also, her mother only gives her a bath maybe every other day, no matter if she is stinky on non bath days or not.

We have talked with her mother, DH's ex, since I posted about a few of the issues. In regards to DSD5 stinking, she has been "stinky" for the past few months, but her mom didn't realize that it could be a big deal. We are trying to get her into the DR her before she leaves, but we are Navy and live on base, so it is a little more difficult then picking up the phone and making an appt. We have also changed her diet to home cooked meals, organic hormone free milk, baths every day, and NO polyester pjs and she hasn't stunk once since she's been here... :cool1:

Come on down! It's super hot, but super beautiful! You won't find better people anywhere, in my opinion!

I'm off until Tuesday!!! Tonight softball, tomorrow Holiday World, soccer mtg, & softball practice, Saturday softball tournament begins & wraps up sometime next week & it's double elimination so my weekend shall be busy!

So, we've had a change of plans...:rolleyes1
DH & I were planning an Oct. "no-kids" trip to WDW to celebrate our 20th Ann. Looking forward to all the things we would do that we can't when we have 3 kids in tow...like segways at Epcot. And we were going during F&WF. :cool1:

But...things just aren't falling into place at all! And I have been no anxious about leaving the kids. (first time ever) So we changed our ressies to April and we'll go as a family. For Oct. we'll try a long weekend in Duluth since we'll only be about 4 hours away from the kids.

Any other moms out there have a hard time leaving their kids? My mom thinks I'm being ridiculous!

I have gotten pretty good at leaving my kids. :rotfl: I went to my Scentsy Convention alone last year and it was so liberating. Also, in the summer my parents take each kid for a week so that they can have special time alone with them. It was hard the first year, but gets easier each additional year. Plus, then I get one-on-one time with the other kiddo. DH and I are doing our October trip without the kids. The Wine & Dine 1/2 is at night and it is not conducive to kids. :flower3:

That's how my whole Disney Planning started.:rotfl: We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary in June and DH wanted to go to Hawaii--where we spent our honeymoon. However, we had airmiles and timeshares and it was a very affordable trip. And now we have three kids. They'll be 8,5, and 3. Also, we homeschool, so asking someone to take care of our three for all day for a week is a TON of work. So, I asked if we could take a family vacation instead. We were going to do a trip in Sept, but now it's looking like Nov2012. So....I still don't know how we'll celebrate our tenth! :confused3

DH and I did a "no-kids" trip in April 2009 as a late, ok very late, honeymoon when we moved to MD. We took 3 weeks to drive cross country, find a house and then Universal and WDW. The first few days was fine, but after that we missed the kids alot. Once we hit Universal and WDW it was all over and as much fun as we had, we were always talking about how much the kids would enjoy this or that... I think we spent more on "presents" for them then we have any trip since when they've been with us... :rolleyes1

Loggin in here!! Hi I'm Tinalala and I have DD12 and DD8 (about to be - on Monday)!

Reading the posts and laughing because I'm a girl scout leader and I've been trying to tell the parents that the girls are going to get the fourth grade funk this year and they don't believe me!! Some of the girls need to start using deoderant now. This session we're going to talk about keeping a clean body and talk about deoderant!!

Well we've gone to Disney for years and now we're on a three year Disney break - it's KILLING ME!!! I've been listening to Live365 almost everyday and it's helping!! We've made our count down chain which started out at 32 months and it's slowly slowly coming down!

So glad to see there's mom's out there like me!!
