Dis Mom's Club?

Welcome Trish!

Well I thought I would take a minute and update you all on our exciting lives!!

First off we have snuck in a trip in July this year and are heading back in three weeks! We bought BLT points and are certainly using them up!

We are also planning our move to Celebration! We just today found THE house and with any luck we will have a moving date sometime this week. :)

We are anxious about everything! Especially since Mimi is starting Kindy in about two weeks.... so she would go to school for a week. Out for a week. Back for about four weeks and then transfer to a new school after the move. Yikes! That might be a lot for a little one.

:) Hoping you all had a great summer!

hi everyone,
i'm a single mom of a 5DD and she just started kindergarten which was harder for me than her. i cried on her first day, I hate seeing her grow up so darn fast and becoming a little lady. we are going on our first trip together with my bf in november. this will be our first trip together as a little family and without my parents, should be interesting. are there any tips or ideas for a five year old at disney? I was thinking about getting her a little goodie bag for when we go but not sure what kind of disney or non disney stuff to put in it!?

Hi! I would hit the Dollar store to pick up any of your glow needs, such as necklaces, bracelets, and if you're lucky a wand. They also usually have Disney coloring books, stickers and other little items. You can also make family t-shirts or a special one for her. If you have a Disney store by you, you can grab a small stuffed animal or 2, when they are on sale. Also, If she has any Princess dresses, I'd make sure they are all ready to go and don't forget to pack them! If she doesn't have any then you may want to start watching sales to pick up one. And, the Barber Shop on Main Street in Magic Kingdom, is a great money saver instead of doing BBB! They will put color and pixie dust in her hair for something like $8. HTH

thank you so much, those are great ideas and will definitely use them!!! I am so excited, I think more excited than she is at the moment!

also, my countdown ticker isn't showing up, is there a special code to use for it to show up like everyone elses?!

My DD started kindergarten this year too and we are planning on moving in January and I have been worried about how she will deal with changing schools mid-year. So, I can only imagine how you must feel.

I never thought KY was a vacation spot. I guess when you reside in the bluegrass state you just don't see it as a vacation.

We had a great time in Kentucky. We spent sometime in Louisville and Bowling Green. We have a goal to show the kids as much as possible before they grow up and leave home so Kentucky seemed like a good place to start. Far enough from home but close enough that we can drive it. In fact, it was the same distance to go to Louisville as northern WI and we live in WI. We want to go back to Kentucky when the kids get older as we found other fun things to do in the teen years.

My DD5 starts kindergarten in the morning. I kept hugging her tonight as I was putting her to bed. I told her that I was losing my little girl :sad1: she told me that she would be my little girl until she was 6  (a whole 6 weeks away :scared1:). I know that I will be more emotional than her as I am already crying.

She had her open house tonight and we told her teacher that we are going to WDW in December and she will be missing a week of school. Turns out her teacher is a huge Disney fan as well. Her teacher was extremely supportive of the trip and said that her trip will be educational for her. Should I tell her that we go several times a year and is not likely educational:confused3

Starting kindergaten is the hardest. It does get easier. My DD8 is going into third grade and has been very sassy all summer long. Our kids don't start till next Tuesday, but I wish I could just drop her off at school now!

I love your Dis Mom's Club thingy! Where'd you get that?!!! One of my boys started school yesterday. He was SO excited and determined to do it without any help from us. He has Down syndrome, and started second grade, and I guess he wanted to show his independence since that's what the other children without special needs do! He's growing up! Cracked me up, though. He kept turning around and looking at us (he was a good 30 feet or more ahead of us) and yelling "no" like he didn't want us to follow! LOL

This beats crying any day in my book!

Here you go!

You can tag this into your siggy just remove *'s and it should work.

So exciting about your son starting school "alone" and with no tears!

I anticipate a similar experience next week. My dd has been counting down to Kindy since she was two.

just found this thread!

I'm Jenn mom of a 4 yr old who was 10 1/2 weeks early!

I'm a Disney addict and so is my hubby and parents! DD is getting there!

DD starts preschool on the 7th and goes the 7th and 9th then we go to Disney until the 25th! Her teacher laughed when we said she will be there for 2 classes then gone for 2 weeks.

This will be years 3 for us with free dining! We're hoping to do bounceback! We have stayed at POP all three years. When I was pregnant in 2006 we stayed at AS Sports.

Shoot! I can't get it to work! Heaven only knows how I figured out how to get the ticker in there when I joined! I do remember having a hard time until I changed something! But I don't know what that was! LOL

Did you take the *'s out and NOT replace them with a space?

Should work!
