HUZZAH! The lovely CSR I've been working with at my credit union, Bill, managed to get our bank fees refunded and we're now back in the black. My mortgage payment was paid, my car payment was made, and I'm not totally broke. Thank God for Bill, who really came through for us. I'm going to see if I can figure out who to send a letter to, as I want to let their exec team know what a great job he did in helping us through a terribly stressful time.
In other news: what would you do (WWYD) in this situation? I'd seen a few threads about the Y.E.S. program but didn't pay too much attention as I figure it was limited to groups or homeschoolers only. Well, I finally got around to reading one today over in the Budget forum and holy cow! The Y.E.S. programs sound awesome and the discount on tickets...well heck, more WDW money is always good (they're gonna get it from me one way or the other anyway, LOL).
The situation is this: We'll have six adults and six kids on this trip. Kids ages range from 6 to 16. I spoke with Julia, a CM for Y.E.S. today and we did find one program that will allow all of our kids to participate (she's fudging the age / grade level restrictions a bit so that all of them can participate). However, I bought 3 of our 7 tickets already. My DMIL and DBIL have already bought their tickets, too. We all purchased MYW base tickets (no options) through the same place,
Undercover Tourist. The Y.E.S. tickets give us the hopper and water park options for less than
UT. So then, we would:
- ...have to return our UT tickets for a 5% handling fee.
- ...have to then buy tickets for our party of 12 using Y.E.S.
- ...take 3 hours out one day to do the class with the kids, assuming that Y.E.S. get enough kids for this particular class and that it doesn't fill up before we can register for it.
From what I'm reading and if I'm understanding it correctly, we can buy tickets for our entire party through Y.E.S., not just the kids who will be going to the class. If all of us buy through Y.E.S., the savings range from $600ish to $1,000+ depending on the type of tickets we eventually go with. That's a TON of money that we could then use for other things, such as shopping, dining out, etc.
So then, would you do it? Would you go through the hassle of returning the UT tickets and getting the Y.E.S. tickets instead, then doing the class? I mean, the class I've selected sounds like it'd be one that all of the kids would really enjoy. We'd be able to buy park hoppers and wark park admissions, too, which we can't do at the moment (budgets suck). What are your opinions on me being able to actually pull this off logistically?
Any and all opinions (just be nice, please) are welcomed and will be listened to intently.
