DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Howdy Ho everyone :yay:

We just got back from a short trip to WDW. It was hot and crowded but still fun.

We stayed at the AKV. It was OK but we're waiting until the new section is open before we go back. (Long walk to the room!)

We left on Friday but I had to go to the DHS for some of the Star Wars hoopla. :confused3 So Annette stayed back and packed while I went. I stood in line for over an hour for this photo ....

:cool1: We got our MVMCP (12/4/08) and MNSSHP (9/28/08) tickets in the mail today. :cool1: I'm really looking forward to MNSSHP. I've heard a lot of great things about the party. We are going to it after our September cruise.

:worried: Bill is in Washington state this week. We dropped him off at the airport this morning at 5:15 am. Meaning, we left the house around 4:45 am. :faint: That threw off my schedule all day today. He comes home late Friday night. I feel bad for him. The kids have gotten use to him leaving on business trips. So, they aren't too sad to see him leave anymore.

Bill flew Alaska Airlines, which was in the same terminal as Air Tran. He said there was a longggggggggggg line, even at 5:15 am, at Air Tran to check-in for the flight to Orlando. He saw lots of kids with Disney shirts on. Soon that will be us!!!!! :cool1:

I was looking back at my calendar and we sure have been to WDW a lot this past year and still have a few trips ahead of us:
2007
September (Bill - Disney Institute) - Yacht Club
October - Beach Club
December - Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa (before cruise) & Beach Club Villas (after cruise)

2008
April/May - Fort Wilderness (cabin)
September - Beach Club Villas (before cruise) & The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (after cruise)
December - Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa (waitlist for BCV, BWV, AKV and VWL)

It will be sooooooo sad to let our APs expire this December. But, we won't be back to WDW until Fall 2009. It didn't make sense to renew them. However, we ARE getting Cole an AP for our September and December trip. Bill ran the numbers and it will be cheaper to get Cole an AP as opposed to Non-Expiring Park Hopper tickets for both trips. He turns three in late August. So, we are being responsible and honest parents and buying him a ticket for September. I just hope when we go through the turnstiles they don't say, oh you don't need one for him. They did that when we went to the Hannah Montana concert. We didn't need a ticket for Cole afterall. :faint: So, we flushed more than a $100 dollars down the drain. :headache:

Yes, we just found out--the odds-on favorite won out! Sometime in late January, my DDIL will present us with twin grandchildren :jumping1:. DS says that they even have pictures to show us, and that they could see the two tiny hearts beating!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Yay!! Babies!!

Does the terminal there ever close? This just came up the other day because my family is visiting and they had a 5:45am flight out of Greensboro, but the terminal doesn't even open until 5am. :confused3 So they couldn't even be there for the "recommended" time if they'd tried. I thought that was so weird. But then, Greensboro is just a bit dinkier than Dallas. :rotfl:

Of course, it will be a while before we know the genders, but it doesn't matter, we're pretty happy with whatever comes along!

CONGRATULATIONSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome photo!!! I can't wait to live and work down there so that we can enjoy star wars weekend (If we can get off work of course). We've (I've) always wanted to go!!!

We go September on Labor Day for a week plus and then December 28th for a week before the cruise. Our friends are with us both times but are waitlisted in December for any DVC resort.

A couple of years ago we arrived at WDW on a Sunday night which was the last night of the Star Wars weekend. I was able to get a pin and some photos of the decorations but no characters. I was determined to go this year even though it meant starting our 15 hour drive home at 2PM instead of early morning. :faint:

 I'm not sure what time the terminal opens. DFW is an International Airport. So, they have flights coming in and out at all hours. I picked Bill up at the airport at midnight one time. So, I know they have late hours too. We live north of the airport and are sometimes in the flight path. I've seen planes fly over our house at 2/3 am (when letting out the dog:dogdance: ).

:faint: I have changed our ADRs AGAIN!!!! I felt bad for the poor CM I just spoke with. But, she was extremely helpful. :goodvibes

September:
Hollywood & Vine (character meal/lunch)
California Grill (dinner)
CRT (character meal/breakfast)
Tusker House (character meal/breakfast)
Artist Point (dinner/ADULTS ONLY!!! Kid's Nite Out babysitting. :cool1: )
Whispering Canyon (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (character meal/dinner before MNSSHP)

December:
Crystal Palace (character meal/breakfast)
Restaurant Marrakesh (lunch)
Mama Melrose (lunch)
Chef Mickey (character meal/breakfast)

:headache: Bill wasn't too keen on the Tutto Italia, The Brown Derby and Le Cellier reservations I made. He looked at the menus and didn't find anything that stood out. I guess there's always another time. :rolleyes1

:woohoo: I also called Kid's Nite Out today and booked them to babysit the kids while we are at Artist Point. MK has EMH that night. So, Bill and I are going to take the boat over to MK after dinner. I can't wait! We had a great time in May when they watched the kids. Dinner at Spoodles was the best meal of our trip (NO KIDS!!!!). I am also looking into taking a helper from Kid's Nite Out with us to Epcot in December. The Disney VIP Tour Guide is extremely expensive. Bringing a Mother's Helper from KNO will be cheaper for us. We'll see if we book them. Bill was a little puzzled when I mentioned it. I think he'd prefer them to watch all the kids while we went to a park. But, I want to ride with Bill, Will and Emily. We have about two more years until Cole is able to ride ALL the rides.

Mazel Tov!!! That is so awesome. The very best to you and Jim and your DS and DDil!! How does your DG feel about being a big sister?? That's so cool!!

Congrats Beth!!!!!!

Twins are so exciting. I am just a PM away if you have any twin questions.

Brack we stood in that same line and about 4 families in front of us he left and my boys didn't want to wait and see who came in his place but they did get their pics with the white troopers. They honestly know nothing about star wars but they got the mickey and goofy from the SW store and wanted a picture with the real characters.

About the phone I have called and left messages several times but no one has ever called me back and when they actually transfer me to someone "who is in charge" I get disconnected.

Thanks! Shannan is thrilled. She's been telling her parents ever since she was three years old that she was going to have twin sisters. Now she says that she knows that she might get twin brothers or even one sister and one brother, but she keeps saying "I told you so!"

Congrats Beth!!!!!!

Thanks! I have no idea at all how to deal with twins. There aren't any on either side of the family, so this is really a first for us. I appreciate your offer of help, and I suspect you'll be hearing from me. Right now I'm getting ready to start knitting and crocheting lots of little hats, sweaters, blankets and booties since they'll be winter babies. Since I always make two of everything (one for my use as a gift or whatever and one for charity) I think I'm going to be very busy! I just bought lots of yarn on Ebay, so I'm good to go!

Tina -

I was on the Restaurant threads and someone was curious if the CMs worked from home for the dining reservations. Someone responsed that there is a call center in Florida (that we all know about "Hi Emi"). But also, Disney outsources some of the calls during peak hours and seasons. Below is there post with the link in it for the company that works with Disney:

it is my understanding that some do work from home... i believe one of the companies that hires for disney dining is Arise (www.arise.com i think)... i agree it could be a dream job! :)

I am actually going to discuss it with Bill, I may apply. We have a home office and I could work part-time for Disney (in a roundabout way ;)). Since the position is an outsourced/contract employee, I would NOT be considered a CM. :thumbsup2 But, it is a foot in the door. I thought you might be interested in it for at least maybe a part-time job.

Jennifer-

That is the most awesome news ever!!!! I actually have (had) a part-time job at Books-A-Million, but last night they told me that everyone's hours got cut, and that they didn't have any payroll hours for me and a couple of other people. I'm definately going to talk to Robby about this and see if I may be able to do this at night after I get off work at the bank?? I wonder how long the reservation center works?? What hours?? I would have to have something after 6pm.
