DIS Meet Dec 8 07

:scared1:
:sad2: We had a really nasty storm here last night. (Brack, your son probably told you about it.). We woke up to our tree in the backyard knocked over. We were asleep during the storm. But, the newsman this morning said we had hail and strong winds last night. Today, it is just rainy. But, the forecast for this evening is . . .

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The kids love the Weather Channel. So, when they said it may snow of course they got excited.:dance3:

I am off to the store before it gets too bad. :goodvibes Everyone have a great day!

- Jennifer

Brack did tell me about the weather but he forgot the part about snow!

IT IS SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, this is some strange weather. The snow won't last long. So, I am heading outside to play with Bill and the kids. Bill is outside trying to saw the rest of the tree up for trash pick-up tomorrow. The tree hit the child fence around the pool. It didn't do too much damage thankfully. That fence is very resiliant.

I'm off for now . . .

party: CONGRATULATIONS! party:

- Jennifer & Family

:cool1: We woke up this morning to snow still on the ground. I got Will and Emily all bundled up and we played a bit.:cold: Cole was still sleeping. He wore himself out last night playing in the snow. As the temperature is rising today, the snow is slowly melting. :sunny: We were playing in the backyard and the water was dripping from the gutters. Emily thought the house was leaking. :lmao: It was good while it lasted. Now that we've had our one snow day of the year, bring on Spring! Easter will be here before we know it.

We have changed our Spring WDW trip plans once again. :faint: After reading about some schools having two Spring Breaks. We found out the week we were going to be there was still considered Spring Break. So, we pushed our trip back a week (April 27 - May 3). Also, we purchased tickets to the pirate: Pirates and Princesses Party princess: on May 2nd. I'm really excited to attend this event. I can't wait to take a picture of Emily in front of Cinderella's carriage. I was able to get us a breakfast reservation for Crystal Palace at 8:15 am. We have never been in the park before it opens for a meal. It is going to be neat walking down Main Street empty. After doing more research, I found out that the Disney Channel Games are going to be taped that week at the WWoS. So, we have two days planned to stop in and let the kids see some of their favorite Disney Channel characters (Even Miley Cyrus is going to be there. That will be a nice surprise for the kiddos). There is a concert at the end of the week and we have requested (free) tickets to the event. I haven't heard anything back on that. So, we'll see about the concert. Speaking of concerts, this upcoming weekend is the big Hannah Montana concert in Houston. :cool1: We have our hotel booked for Saturday night in Houston. So, we're all set to go. :woohoo:

Everyone have a magical day. :wizard:

Enjoy your snow..we are basking in the 60 degree balmy, but windy weather!! Too strange!!

You are going to LOVE the P&P party! We went in August and my kids had a blast. They are going to be bringing home LOTS of yummy chocolate and beads!! Bring a spare tote bag to hold all the loot at the park!! The loot bags are small, and tend to break (just and FYI).

Your trip sounds awesome!! I am jealous LOL!! I am still hoping we will be going on the EB this summer!

Wow! Congrats! That's an awesome acheivement! :cheer2:

Thanks everyone!
Yes, I'm just relieved that the wait to find out is over.

Stacy,
This won't affect my cruises at all. But depending upon what DCL comes out with in 2010, we may push back our 2009 cruises. Especially if they do Europe!

Wendy:

Jim sends his congratulations. I still can't get him to post here--I think he's "typophobic".:rotfl2:

The thermometer on my back porch says 60 degrees right now at 7:30 AM. I just saw on TV that the wind chill in Atlanta is 23. What's wrong with this picture? We had awesome storms last night. The thunder scared our little dog so badly that she was hiding under my bed with my cats. She never goes near the cats because they beat her around a bit! They were huddled together for quite a while. We also had wind over 50 MPH. It's still very windy, but not as bad as last night. We don't seem to have any damage, though. All the trees that I can see from inside the house are still intact. We don't even seem to have any branches down. Of course, we live in a relatively protected area, shielded from the wind on all four sides.

I hope anyone else who had to endure the weather this week is doing alright!

Beth

Tell Jim, thanks!

The weird weather is coming our way now. It's been unseasonably cold (below 0 degrees celsius), but what's even stranger is it's clear and sunny! I'll take that anyday. :thumbsup2

:goodvibes Happy Wednesday All!:goodvibes

Okay, the kids were playing is snow yesterday morning and now we are wearing shorts. :scared1: This is so crazy! I just came in from playing in the backyard with the kids. It is so nice (probably high 60's/low 70's). Well it was nice until Cole decided to dump mud on Will's head. :lmao:

Before we head to Houston on Saturday, we have to attend a luncheon for Bill's Mom. Her Birthday is this Friday. We have NO CLUE on what to get her. Obviously, we aren't walking in empty-handed. Any suggestions for a 78 year old woman? On a sad note, she is at the beginning stage of Alzheimer's. We only found this out last month when we went to visit her. Bill's Dad just "casually" mentioned it. Which I thought was kind of odd. I guess he's having a hard time dealing with her. She is sometimes very sharp-minded then other times she says very random things. We observed this during our visit. It was very scary. Has anyone had to deal with this? Bill's Aunt (Dad's Sister) had Alzheimer's and lived with them when he was in High School. She lived with them until they had to put her in a home and eventually she passed away. Bill told me all kind of stories about his Aunt sneaking out of the house and getting lost and sometimes just breaking out in tears for no apparant reason. So, I know he is scared about his Mom's future. She was always into reading, crossword puzzles and writing poetry. But, she doesn't have the attention span nowadays to do any of those. Also, Bill's Mom and Dad were both very active in their Senior Center doing community volunteer work and socializing at the center. However, she seems more housebound these days. She is a very nice lady. She welcomed me into their family with open arms. Please keep Mrs. Taylor in your prayers. Thank you. :goodvibes

I will definitely keep Mrs. Taylor in my prayers. My MIL was an aid in a nursing home which specialized in Alzheimer's patients. She always said that the best thing was to keep the patient's mind working--reading, crossword puzzles, a handcraft like knitting or crocheting, even coloring in a coloring book helps. She also said that she never argued with the patients. If a person became confused and thought she was one of their children (or anyone else for that matter!) she just went along with it. She finally had to retire from this when her arthritis became bad enough that she couldn't get around by herself. She says that she really misses it. She felt like she was doing some good and bringing a bit of happiness to her "friends". The next time I talk to her, which should be over the weekend, I'll see if she has any other pointers.
