DIS Meet Dec 8 07

We have had crazy weather here too, the weekend was shorts and tee weather then yesterday it was gloves and hat weather:confused3
Glad everyone is A OK:thumbsup2

:goodvibes Hello All!

You're not kidding about our crazy weather. We were in shorts on Monday :cool1: and then bundled up in jackets on Tuesday.:cold:

:sad1: Bill is still in Washington. We've been keeping busy this week thus far. We had a CRAZY day around here on Monday.:dance3: Will and I had a dentist appointment to get our teeth cleaned. I got everyone into the car and then realized I wanted a bottle of water for the drive. So, I went back into the house, grabbed a bottle, turned on the alarm, locked the door and then slammed the door shut. I got back into the van and at that moment I realized what I just did. I left my keys on the counter in the kitchen. :scared1: I knew all the doors were locked. But of course I had to try anyways. Then, I called Bill to see which window he didn't like. I was going to break a window to get in. However, he was in a meeting and didn't answer his phone. Of course this had to happen when Bill is out of the state. :scared: I gathered my composure and finally rationalized it would be cheaper and easier just to call a locksmith. So, I called information (I left my phone in the car luckily) and said give me the first name under locksmith for my city. I called the guy and pleaded to get here quickly. It was a nice day here on Monday. So, the kids played outside while we waited. He was at my home in ten minutes. :thumbsup2 I went to put Cole in his carseat while the man headed towards the door. I had Cole half in the seat when I hear my alarm system beeping. He got into the house within five seconds of standing in front of the door. I made a mad dash to the alarm system before it went off. On my way, I fell over a satellite dish, two scooters and a box. I fell hard. Then, I got up and fell again. I was in a clumsy state. I limped to the alarm with like three second left. The locksmith kept asking me if I was okay, because I fell pretty bad. It wasn't funny at the time. But, when I think back I have to laugh because I must have looked like an idiot. One thing that really scared me was how quickly he was able to unlock our door. When Bill comes home I want a deadbolt on the door from the garage to inside the house. We have a deadbolt on the front door and back door. I am glad we have the alarm system and our DISdog. JJ was barking at the locksmith. So, I feel safe that if someone does ever try and break into our home, they may think twice with the alarm system and a barking dog. In the end, we did make it to the dentist appointment and both now have sparkling teeth. :rotfl: So, that was my lovely Monday. What a way to start the week. More to come . . .

 Thank you Angie! I appreciate it. I need my Bill home to baby me. He comes home tomorrow evening. :cool1: Like Jason mentioned, he is up in Redmond. He said it has been rainy (a shocker for the Seattle-area ;) ) He saw a few cars that had snow caked on them. However, no snow where he is staying. But, if you go up the mountain a few miles, there is snow. We may go with him on his next trip to WA. We have discussed some day moving to the Redmond-area if there is ever a job advancement opportunity "worth" the move. Bill wants me to check it out to see if I could live in WA. I'm willing to go anywhere his jobs takes him. I like an adventure.

When I met Bill he was a school teacher and we discussed him joining DODDS to teach overseas. However at the time, the only openings they could guarantee us were in Guam. Needless to say, he stayed in the states and went from teaching into the IT field within the school district and then into the private IT sector. I believe things happen for a reason and to never second-guess yourself or past decisions. Bill probably would never be working for his dream company had we gone to Guam. :upsidedow

Maybe someday you and Bill will have a yacht like the one docked in St Thomas. The one with the helicopter. It belonged to some Microsoft big shot. I don't remember the name now but we googled after we were home to see who it belonged to.

That was the most amazing boat I ever saw! I guess we lowly municipal employees can only dream about owning boats like that. Hey--I won $6 in the lottery last week. A few more winning tickets....:rotfl:

Okay, you got my interest peaked on whose yacht that was. The one with the helicopter on it WAS Paul Allen's yacht, co-founder of Microsoft. I researched and he owns THREE yachts! :scared1: That was the smallest of his fleet. I'm sure Angie is familar with him because he owns the Portland Trail Blazers (and Seattle Seahawks).

Jennifer, we are still waiting for picture of half clown. Did you find scanner yet? I really want to know if I saw her. I want to put a face to "that".

Thanks! The best part is that the tickets were a Christmas gift from a co-worker, so I didn't even have to pay for the tickets. I haven't cashed them in yet, but I'll probably get six more scratch-offs. That's how I'll get the money to buy my yacht and helicopter. I will invite all of you on the maiden voyage!

No, but Bill reminded me that you can really only see half her face. But, you DO get a great view of the back of flagger's balding head. :lmao: When Bill gets back, I'll start bugging him again. He was really busy leading up to the trip. :scared:

That yacht is beautiful. We can only dream. :cloud9: What was with all those yachts in St. Thomas? The one closest to the ship was HUGE!

Yep, we know of him here in Portland. But I think he split with Gates and is Apple now. Does that sound right?

Yes, you are correct. He's also ranked at a lowly #19 on the Forbes Richest Men in the WORLD... at a paltry 18 Billion.

Sounds exciting.... It's always amazing when you see someone enter your house in seconds... Seriously though, a dead bolt would have added about 15 seconds to him time - most likely. Your alarm system is a much better deterrent, you have signs outside, and stickers on the window, right?
