DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Speaking of Britney, which I never do (until today)....it is tragic that there is not one person in her life that cares enough about her to do something to help her. Not a friend, parent, sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, or pastor. Okay, that's in my opinion of this whole mess. Sad, sad.
I agree. It's a sad comment on the state of human affairs that some people can be so interested in watching a fellow human being fall apart. It does prove that money doesn't make you happy, though!

I, too, hope that Dennis and Angie and their family are doing alright way out there. This weather is so strange--it was like a spring day here. Even the birds are confused! The cardinals in my yard aren't sure what's going on and they just keep flying around. At this time of year, they usually stay tucked in their nests except to eat.

Beth

I hope they are alright too.

We haven't heard from Dennis & Angie in awhile. The floods out west have turned to ice!

Everything good on the home front here!!! :woohoo: Apparently the radio station hyped it up and there wasn't a tornado, it was just really strong straight line winds. Nothing ever happens around here, so when it does, the media likes to exaggerate a little bit. There was some damage to some homes a couple of streets over from us, but other than that, everything's fine here!!! Anyone else weather the storm?? Everyone okay???

I hope Dennis and Angie are all right. I just thought they were busy selling their house. I forgot about their weather, we don't hear that much about it here. But the WI & IL storms were close to us so they made our news. I didn't know about Arkansas weather until Tina mentioned it.
I haven't been seeing a lot of news lately....too much Britney and election. Too much too soon on the election.

Thanks for the concern my friends! :grouphug: We are fine. Judy is right we have been working very, very hard on the house. Moving stuff to storage this past weekend and finishing up painting jobs, power washing patio, etc, etc., etc. The realtors had their weekly tour of new listings today so a mess of them came by. We had it looking pretty ship shape though. Our realtor says there are 3 people interested already. A quick sale (at a good price!) would be very cool! :cool2: Then I would have more DIS time! :) :surfweb: I have been reading to keep up though.

DDIL did have quite a 2 day ordeal with the weather though. She and DGS drove from here to southern Calif. on the 2 worst days. She had either ice (did not know how to put her chains on! ), wind or rain to contend with the whole way. But, they did eventually arrive home safe if not sound! DS said he gave her a foot massage and had her soak in the tub when she finally got home. Two days of white knuckle driving, I think she deserved a little pampering.

Quick Update....

DH's.. BIL.. started Kemo last week... He is doing OK so far.. but we found out he will need about 8 Months of it... Sooooooooooo looks like he may Not be coming with us to WDW in April as planned.. :worried:

NJ homefront news.. Found out.... they caught 1 of the 2 convicts that escaped and left a note for the guard.. 6 blocks away from the Jail he broke out of.. :scared1: He is back in Jail.. Such a shame the guard commited suicide because of all this.. :guilty: I'm wondering if they can charged the escapee with involantary man slaughter or something now.. Doubtful, but they should.. It is the convicts fault the guard commited suicide after being Harassed all day long at work and home and everywhere from being Named in the Thank You note... shame shame.. He left behind a wife and 4 year old daughter..

OK, back to bed for a bit then to work by 10...

Keeping you ALL in my thoughts...

Do you believe it has been a Month since we cruised?? Where did the time go?

Glad you're ok, and it wasn't a tornado. Straight Line winds can be just as bad... We had one go through Elkhorn about 8 years ago, and it leveled some buildings, a car wash, two barns, and a silo. They thought it was a tornado at first too, because of all the damage, but one could see in the corn fields that all the stalks were laying down in one direction, that it wasn't a tornado. A tornado would have just thrown them every which way. The winds from both can be similar in strength though.

Oh lord, Stacy, I don't know the story you're talking about, but it sounds awful. Prayers for that man's family...

Glad to hear from Angie and Tina, glad everyone's safe and sound. (Including your DDIL, Angie, that does sound harrowing!)

We went from -18 C to 10C (more than 50F change) in a few days here. I'm liking 10C a LOT better. Finally the ice is melting.

Lurking and reading but not posting much...no Disney plans in our future so just keeping up on friends. :goodvibes Ds said, as I parked at his school this morning and we prepared to pick our way across the icy parking lot "I wish we were still in Florida." Me too, buddy, me too.

Our next trip is planned, or at least the flight is booked. We're flying to NC 1st week of August for a couple of weeks. Probably going to that big national park (Great Smoky Mtn?) and I have friends in Raleigh and near the GA border. Dh is up for another road trip. ;)

Wow, I had no idea of all the weather issues in the states. I'm glad to hear that everyone is okay, and that Angie's DDIL made it home safely.

Stacy, I hope everything goes well with your BIL's treatment!

It's wet and rainy here in Belgium, so nothing out of the ordinary. I've been using my GoLight in the mornings to keep my energy up as it's dark 16 hours out of 24.

Have any of you used TourGuideMike.com for your trip planning? I just signed up today - and so far it seems like a great way to organize your vacations. I'm using it for my Sept trip to AKV.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
Wendy

I saw a Robin on Sunday! A Robin in Chicagoland in January is unheard of (until now).

Cute! Wish I was in Florida too! :thumbsup2

Road trip!! :yay: :dance3: Love road trips!

Angie, we are thinking of a late August trip to Disneyland. We were thinking of Paris-Disneyland but the dollar is too weak right now. We haven't been to Disneyland since 1998. So it is time. Any suggestions of where to stay? We stayed at Disneyland Hotel (business trip) last time. In the past we stayed at Mecca (no longer there) and twice at The Castle(?).

We have had crazy weather here too, the weekend was shorts and tee weather then yesterday it was gloves and hat weather:confused3
Glad everyone is A OK:thumbsup2

I wish you all could see the looks on the kids faces when they walk into the childrens room for the 1st time.
Its kinda like this  then  .

Beth we might be at disney when you are, we are trying to change from june to may
Keep me posted on that! I'm hoping this works out for me. I love being with the people I know from the "teddy bear world". They're lots of fun, and being with them at WDW would make a great weekend! And my birthday is the week after, so I can celebrate a bit while I'm there, too.

Judy,
If you want something simple, clean, no frills - we've stayed at the Howard Johnsons right across the street. They have a shuttle bus, or you can walk over.

If you want a splurge, go for the Grand Californian (Not sure if that's the right name).

And you ain't kidding about the dollar being weak. Yesterday the exchange rate was $1.51 to 1 Euro :scared1: Thank goodness my cost of living allowance goes up when the dollar goes down...

:cool1: They caught the 2nd man !!! :cool1: Both of the escapees are Back in jail... 1 was found in Mexico and the other 6 blocks away from the jail.. :confused3

I know that it's the weekend that has May 18th in it. I'll have lots more info after I meet with my friend on the 21st! You will see things that you've never imagined. These people make spectacular "art bears"! I may go even if Leslie decides that she can't or doesn't want to do the show this year.

There are two Best Westerns directly across Harbor Blvd from the main gate. We have stayed at both and they are clean, free breakfast and a closer walk to the maingate than DLH.
