DIS Meet Dec 8 07

I just took the MAT and I am qualified for the CMO position!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: Should I apply for it???

What character were you? For giggles I did it and I am Simba:simba: . However, I obviously will not be applying due to home commitments (children, husband, dog, etc. . . :dance3: ).

I was Mickey!!!! :mickeyjum I don't think I'm going to apply for that position though. I was looking at the disclosure and it looks like they want someone who can be on call 24/7 whenever they need him/her to travel for special events. It would be great for someone who doesn't have any responsibilities (bills, etc.), but since I do have bills (plenty of them), I think we're just going to move down there and do things the old fashioned way.

Bill just IM'd me that he took the MAT. He was Mickey Mouse too! I understand about holding off and not applying for this position. It does look like it is a part-time position and the candidate would be on-call 24/7. It makes me wonder what Disney has up it's sleeve for YOMD this year? Good luck when y'all do move down to Florida. :goodvibes

:tink: I hope everyone is having a "magical" Wednesday. It is Wednesday isn't it? I sometimes lose all track of time staying home with the kiddos. :dance3:

:cold: It is chilly here. Well for Texas it is chilly, in the high 40's. Our fireplace has gotten allot of use lately. :cool1:

:thumbsup2 We finally got around to seeing Pirate of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. I think they only played it once onboard. So, we didn't get to see it on the Magic. :sad2: I think it left me with more questions than answers. Bill and I would occasionally look at each other like "Huh?". Overall it was good with lots of action. The house was shaking from the surround sound. It was very cool. It did end making me think there'd be another movie. Does anyone know if they are planning on making another one? Bill downloaded the movie from XBOX Live. So, we could see it in HD. I hope Disney eventually will put out HD movies on something besides Blu-Ray. But, I'm not holding my breath. I assume Disney has a huge contract with Sony. It stinks for those of us with regular HD DVD players. Oh well.

 Maybe once the new ships are built and the itineraries are announced, we should plan a "reunion cruise"? We really enjoyed cruising with you all and definitely plan to cruise on one of the new ships. We watched the Cruising Do's and Don'ts for the umpteenth time on the Travel Channel the other night. I love how they show the DCL ships for most of the ship shots. They are beautiful ships. Emily recognized Brent the Cruise Director. I took a picture of her with him on our cruise. He was very sweet to her.

I got Mickey Mouse too.. Too Bad I don't have a Web Cam or else I'd apply. I wish there wasn't a Video requirement so soon.. I'd borrow one from somewhere to submit one.. :sad1:

An interview is two way. Even if they offer you a job you don't have to accept if you don't like what you see in the interview process. I'd say give it a try. :thumbsup2

I got Mickey also.

I love the idea of a reunion cruise on one of the new ships! :thumbsup2

So who's planning on a Med cruise in 2010 if DCL comes back?

/
Simba here. Inaugaration cruise of the first new ship, then again on the second. :woohoo: :dance3:

So who's planning on a Med cruise in 2010 if DCL comes back?

I told Bill I was willing to give up our 2009 cruise in the suite if the Magic goes back to the Med. Keeping our fingers crossed. :cloud9:

:cool1: We received our 2008-2009 DVC Vacation Planner in the mail yesterday. Keep an eye out in your mail. We were eyeing the getaways to Italy in there. One thing we can't understand is why the Member Cruise was so many points compared to the point listed in the book? We did pay cash for Bill and I and used points for the kids. It just seemed expensive compared to other cruises. We are in a Cat. 4 for that cruise. I still haven't logged on to see the information on the Member Cruise. I hope they let us see the new Toy Story show. That would be a shame if we didn't get to see it. Like I mentioned before, Cole loves Toy Story.

I want to see the Toy Story show too. I hope they will bring it to the Magic too.

OT: does anyone know... if you book a roundtrip flight.. and only use it one way.. do you get in trouble for it? Like would your account sky miles get taken away or something? Or does it put up a Red flag the next time to try and book a flight??

ok.. Spirit had $8 fares.. so I booked a roundtrip flight for $16 from Atlantic City to Orlando... $16.. :woohoo: Tax and fees $21  go figure.. OK but still $37 for a roundtrip flight was sooooo much cheaper then a one way.. So if I don't show up to use the flight back... What can happen? :confused3

From what I've heard, and I've never done it myself, the airline won't care. However, don't ever try this in reverse. Say your in Atlantic City, and see a good deal for a round trip from Orlando to AC and then back, don't book it, and then just show up for the return flight... they won't let you board.

Added some info. Most airlines have wording that prohibits what you're planning. They call it "Throwaway Ticketing". They say they can assess reasonable costs, and deny frequent flier miles and all that. Like I said, I've known several people do this recently - my brother early last year - and nothing has happened. It's up to you ;)

Thank You !!

I'm definately going to go... but I was playing with a date to come back.. That was my concern.. It's not for several months yet but I could Not pass up the $16 flight.. Maybe I can call the airline and inform them I won't be back.. if that is what we all decide to do.. At least I would be giving them notice early enough to sell the seats back home.. :confused3

I really doubt they would do anything. What if you get tied up in traffic and MISS that flight home? What they do is fill the seat with standby people....if they haven't already overbooked the flight. I seriously doubt they would hunt you down and try to collect charges.
