DIS Meet at Doorway to Dreams Today

Just returned from an excellent DIS Meet over at the Doorway to Dreams here in Chicago. We had a group of about 60 - it was organized by some folks over on the Podcast Boards and everyone had a great time. The group was continuing on to lunch, but I had to get home as I am trying desperately to keep up with Christmas and DD's graduation preparations.

The DVC folks put out a nice little spread of coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks and bottled waters along with some little pastries and cookies. We all gathered and sat for a short presentation during which they gave out some lovely DVC prizes. They had some nice looking DVC bags, a DVC blanket, some H20 products, and assorted DVC travel mugs. The Podcast folks (Thank u Geef!) brought some gifts they received from some mall stores and gave them out as well drawing names. I won a soap which they guaranteed will smell like the burning of Rome in Spaceship Earth, LOL! They are right - it is a strong scent, but I am looking forward to trying it out..it is a special shampoo soap.

They announced a special gift to the first person purchasing a new membership today, and before our party was over, the gentleman next to my DH was eagerly raising his hand indicating he was going to be the first...Welcome Home new BLT Owner!

We toured the BLT one bedroom model and it was lovely, just as we found it to be down at WDW last September. They are still constructing the studio portion there, and workers were hard at work painting in there even today.

As we left we were given a goodie bag, which I am pretty sure contains a DVC Christmas ornament. Haven't even gone through it yet, lol. They did give us the gift boxed DVC Member Cruise pin from 2003 on the way in as well.

I am still holding out for Grand Californian for my next add on though. I would enjoy a stay at BLT, but not in the market to purchase there at this time.

Perhaps someone may post here later to update us on how the luncheon at Uno's went - I am sure they had some yummy food there and lots more fun conversation!

Yes the DVC ornament is in the bag that DVC gave us as we left. We also got a family and friends discount card for the Disney store. I was able to use it to be a present for the little girl who I got from the giving tree at our church. Got her some cute princess pants and 2 sweatshirts which hopefully will keep her warm this winter.

It was great and thanks for all the hard work GEEF ( Todd). Next time I'll be able to stay lon ger but I had Eric's band at my house for practice at noon - 5 pm..

I was there around 1pm or so today and I must have missed it!

we were there yesterday, got our ornament, toured the model, got hot chocolate and cookies, our guide gave us a friends and family discount coupon the disney store. she told us to come back the 20th and 21st of February, they are having some characters come. I asked if they will be having some special incentives, she replied by saying: I can't say anything right now, but if you want to add on, that would be the time. So left wondering what that might be????

Darn it! I didn't even know about it. I totally would have gone.
I went with my friend to Doorway to Dreams on our lunch "hour" on Thursday. We work right across the street from Woodfield Mall.
I am a member and my friend is considering joining. We got the tour and we each got a goodie bag. I received the travel mug and ornament and we both received some DVC coloring books, crayons and Mickey shortbread cookies.
I like BLT but I miss being able to visit my home resort of AKV at Dorway to Dreams.

This was organized by a group on our Podcast boards. There was a post with link on the DIS Meets board too. DIS Meets is the place to check if you are looking for any to attend, whether locally or at WDW. We had one last summer in Chicago too, a Wall-E meet - cute movie!

I visited the DTD store at Woodfield last week with my mom to show her the model...I would have really enjoyed meeting some more fellow homeowners! How can I get on an info list for more events like this one?
