DIS Ladies Only Trip 2007 WISH!

Jenna I don't know if you said it here or on the other thread but 1 lb a week is great! :cheer2:

14 lbs sounds like a lot but when you start this big, it falls off a litle easier in the beginning. My loss is probably similar in percentage form to yours and all the other losers ::yes::

I don't look at old pictures of myself. I was overweight through high school as well - not nearly as much as now. I think I weighed about 150 - 160lbs but that is my goal weight now even though that is still considered overweight for my height.

I have been weighing everyday this week and so far I haven't lost anything... I think it has to do with PMSing but I won't know for sure until probably next Tuesday. :confused3 I have been pretty good - not going over my points at all except within the flex points that I have.

Kelly, don't let PMS week discourage you; YOU are doing GREAT! Keep it up, and you will lose that weight! You are an inspiration! :thumbsup2

I'm off to shower and then I am taking oldest DD to the hospital for outpatient surgery today. I hope everyone has a good day!
I hope it all went well. :wizard:

I am bigger than you and it's not coming off very easy. :guilty:

I have had a moment like that with a picture from the past. One day my husband and our nephew and I were looking at pictures. There was one of me on the beach, and my nephew (he was about 20 at the time) wanted to know who it was. I told him it was me, and he didn't believe me. So I said "I haven't always been fat" and he responded "oh, you haven't?" :lmao: The poor boy has no social skills at all.
That sounds like something my kids would say! They cannot believe I used to be so skinny. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is staying on track this week-end! :cheer2:

Thanks Kelly. My goal is 60 pounds. I think the only thing about the one pound a week, is that I know that I am not giving 100%, so I know it could be more. But making these huge changes in lifestyle is hard, so as long as I keep going in the right direction, I will be happy with it.

Hi all. Well, I had a bad weekend and that was definitely reflected in my eating. :guilty: I don't think I will weigh in tomorrow, I don't need to compound it.

I'll see you all tomorrow.

A Dozen Ways to Duck a Quack
How To Identify Weight Loss Scams

-- By Becky Hand, Licensed & Registered Dietitian

The next time you watch an infomercial, read an advertisement, or spot a new supplement reporting miraculous weight loss results, we wouldn’t blame you for cocking a wary eyebrow. When evaluating claims for weight loss products, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recommends a healthy portion of skepticism; most don’t come close to fulfilling their claims. And in the rare cases where a product might result in some temporary weight loss, it is almost never a permanent solution and is usually unsafe.

Before you spend money on products that promise fast and easy results, weigh the claims carefully. You might even consider contacting the FTC directly for more information or if you have concerns.

These 12 tips will help you critique and evaluate weight loss claims and spot a scam before it’s too late:

1. "It’s so easy to lose weight without dieting or exercising!" Face it—permanent weight loss takes work, effort and time. Pass on any products that promise miraculous results without the effort. Buy one and the only things you’ll lose are money and confidence.

2. "Eat whatever you want and still lose weight!" Losing weight requires sensible food choices, not overloading on high-fat, high calorie foods.

3. "Lose weight forever…you’ll never need to diet again!" For weight loss to be permanent, it requires lifestyle changes. On-going maintenance is always a must.

4. "Block the digestion and absorption of fat, carbs, or calories!" There is no magic potion that will allow you to block the digestion and absorption of fat, carbs, or calories. A little pill to curb cravings and suppress appetite just doesn’t exist.

5. "Rapid weight loss: Lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks!" Looking to lose weight rapidly for your high school reunion or wedding? Products that safely produce lightning-fast weight loss just don’t exist. A weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week is the safest and most effective way to take off weight and keep it off.

6. "Finally, a weight loss formula for everyone!" A diet that claims to be perfect for all is erroneous. One-size-fits-all just doesn’t work. Your lifestyle habits and health concerns are unique. That’s why SparkPeople helps you design your own personalized nutrition and exercise programs to suit your particular lifestyle needs.

7. "Lose weight with this miracle diet patch, cream or gel!" You’ve heard it all before—"Apply and watch the fat melt away!" But truthfully, all that melts away is your hard earned money.

8. "Scientifically Proven! Doctor Endorsed!" Where is the proof and how was the research conducted? Were people studied, or rodents? Were there 3 subjects in the study or 3,000? Has the research been published in a medical journal and reviewed by peers? A doctor of what profession? Or is the "professional" as purely fictitious as your weight loss will be? Be sure to check the details.

9. "Money-back guarantee!" It may make you feel safer to give the product a try, but realize that many companies do not follow through with this promise. You’re left holding an empty promise and an empty pocketbook.

10. "100% safe!" Just another attempt, trying to get you hooked with a meaningless phrase. Think of it this way – if there were no reason to doubt, why would they need to make this claim at all? Many products have been removed from the market due to safety issues, but not until too many lives were already destroyed or lost. Does ephedra ring a bell?

11. Those convincing testimonials: We can all look 10 pounds slimmer by: standing up straight, shoulders back, and stomach in; having a good hair day; applying the right make-up; and hiring a professional photographer. Remember, just because you recognize the actor or actress doesn’t make the product any more reliable. They are now just a little richer and you a little poorer.

12. "A miraculous breakthrough!" Turn and run the other direction when extravagant claims make the product sound to good to be true.

The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit clicky or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).

A couple of years ago I tried the Ephedra free version of Dexatrim... I remember a lot of shaking that I couldnt control when I first started taking them. My heart raced like I was jogging... I didnt like that feeling so stopped taking them. I now know that weight loss is a slow and steady process that takes a little time and effort. ::yes::

Kat, sorry that you had a bad weekend. I did too.. On a side note Aunt Flo came to visit me lastnight so I'm not sure if I'll be weighing in either tomorrow. I hope that you are doing better today. :grouphug:

Why, why, why must I screw things up every night????????   :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

I was doing so good today. Even when Ruben and I were out earlier and he wanted to take me to eat at Cracker Barrel, I said no. It's alot of comfort food and I knew if I went there I'd end up with something I'd regret.

So I suggested Subway instead. I felt so good about it, and the sandwich was really quite good.

Then I came home and for dinner I made a Lean Cuisine for myself and pizza for the kids. Frozen pizza. Nothing special. Nothing all that great. But that didn't stop me from having 3 slices. They were small, but still.

Why would I do that?? What an idiot. :sad2: Always at night I blow it. Ugh, I probably gained again this week. I'll win the prize for who gains the most.

You didn't do too bad. Hey, you could have had Cracker Barrel and then come home and still had pizza. Just think, a few weeks ago you probably would have done just that. I think the statistic is that it takes a month to make a change permanent. Just think, how many of us have had some of our bad habits for YEARS- it's not going to change overnight. I think the beginning tends to be the hardest too because the results aren't yet as visible. You haven't yet had people notice or comment or had to go buy smaller pants. All those little things that reinforce that you're doing a good job and give you the motivation to keep going with it. This is the hardest time, but if you keep going you will get to that reward phase. Just think of how much more fun it will be to take your trip to LV 30,40 or even 50 or more pounds lighter. You'll be more comfy in the car, you'll have an easier time helping with the luggage, and it'll be nice to just plain have less weight to tote around. You are well on your way and it is not over because of a few slices of pizza.  :flower3:

Now I just need to take my own advice :rolleyes1

Now I just need to take my own advice :rolleyes1

And good advice it was :thumbsup2 Beth  in one way, it is good to be tough and honest with yourself and recognize that you made a mistake but DON'T put yourself down. You are obviously trying VERY hard at this. You need to give yourself some credit for that. :goodvibes

Now I just need to take my own advice :rolleyes1
I agree with everything that you said. Beth, dont be to awfully hard on yourself. It took me awhile to break my night snacking also. In fact sometimes I still do it. The only difference is that when I do I try to pick something that is healthy. Lastnight I had a snack size bag of popcorn. Keep going Beth and everyone!!!!! Dont give up!!!! :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

I see Kelly has moved her carrot two more pounds (am I right?) so I thought I'd share my weekly weigh in. I lost three pounds this week from last week's one pound gain, so grand total is down seven. Not too horrible. And I've already dropped down one points category. Yesterday afternoon I went to Super Walmart and stocked up on Weight Watchers meals and some treats too- Skinny cow stuff and some weight Watchers stuff too. What I was really looking for and I didn't find, was the weight watchers non frozen foods. I seem to recall that they used to have shake mixes and muffins and all sorts of other snacky things and I was really hoping to find some of those too. Has anyone seen any of those things lately?

I get the little snack cakes (My fave's are lemon and chocolate. YUM!) and our Walmart has the muffins. They have them in my store with the bread and snack cake. I havent seen the shake mixes but they might have those in the breakfast area?? :confused3

Hi everyone!!

I hope you are all doing well with the weigh-ins!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Despite my major binge last night (and I do mean major, it didn't end with the pizza..:rolleyes1 ) I am down 3 pounds.

Now if you recall last week I was up 4!!! :sad2:

So that means I've gone from 284 to 280 to 279 to 283 and now to 280. Whew! What a freakin roller coaster. But at least now I am headed back in the right direction.

I still would like to lose 30 lbs before we move to Vegas, so I am going to keep at it.

Lots of luck everyone!!! And thanks for the encouragement!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey ladies... Now that fall hockey is over i may just get back to a regular routine... I went walking all morning.. Now don't laugh we walked to get my ds4 from school. Then we went to 7-11 to get slurpees. I got a med instead of my normal X-L...:teeth: then to the pizza place to get bread sticks. I had 2.. Then we went to my aunts house and visited a bit. Stopped at the meat market for some chicken and salads... I  the raw veggies they have soaked in an italian dressing.. Stopped at the pharmacy and then walked home. we were gone for about 2 hours.. Oh so how I wish it would stay nice out... Good luck to everyone on your weight loss...

Walking is good for you Teresa. Keep it up.

Update on the kitties. $120 main, $80 mini. Thank you Anita and Kelli. :thumbsup2

I did not get on the scale today because I know it would have made things worse but I will visit again with it next week.

Congrats everyone who had losses this week. Tomorrow I am going to post a cumulative pound total for the group for this first month. I want to give a chance for everyone to weigh in today/tonight.

I need to find those. Right now I need things pre portioned for me so it gives me less room to mess up. I also need to remind myself that when I cheat I am only cheating myself. Corny as all get out but it's true.

Congrats everyone on the weight loss this week. :dance3:

Yes, I dropped 2 lbs this week. That's not bad considering last night when I got home late from work ((9:30pm) I ate a plateful of mashed potatoes, hamburger helper and some bread and butter. I was starving and tired - not a good combination. Tonight I am hungry and bone tired. I am going to ignore the hunger and head to bed soon.

Today, I only ate 10 points worth of food. I know that is drastically below what I should have ate but I was just sooo busy at work that eating did not cross my mind and now I feel it is too late. Days like this, where I forget to eat, are rare for me.

Well I weighed in this morning, I forgot yesterday. I completely expected a gain this week, I have been really, really bad. But somehow I am down 4 lbs since last week :confused3 I'm happy though :goodvibes So I have lost a total of 9lbs :woohoo: , but only 7 since starting wish. This gave me extra incentive to get back on my exercise program and start eating better.

:cheer2: Congratulations to all who lost again this week :cheer2:

I went to buy some WW muffins, I was told they are very good, but they were out of stock. I will try again this week. I  the lemon cakes, they taste like lemon pound cake, so good! They are the only ones I have tried so far. I did buy the WW popsicles that look like oreo cookie ice cream with cookie crumbs on the oustide but haven't tried them yet, and some WW sorbet bars, haven't tried those yet either. I will let you know how they are once I try them, probably this weekend.

Good luck again this week!!! :wizard:
