DIS Ladies Only Trip 2007 WISH!

This just isn't working for me. :sad1:

For some reason since I told you I wanted to try this I can't stop eating and snacking. :confused3

I feel terrible. I still haven't gotten a scale to weigh myself.

Kelli, its hard to get started sometimes. Can you get yourself to Target or someplace and get a scale? That's the first step here.

You probably saw that blurb Beth posted about taking 30 days to change a habit. Start with something little. A little more water. A little more exercise. You just have to start slowly so you aren't overwhelmed. We're here for you. :grouphug:

Tomorrow is weigh in day and the start of the first mini challenge! I will see you all in the morning.

Goodnight and hope we have some great weigh ins tomorrow! :goodvibes

Oh I want to do this. I just found it. I really enjoyed coming here every week and it seemed to really help me. I am hoping to come on this trip so does that mean I can join up...pretty please. You don't even have to count me in the contest part, I just want to lose some weight.

Please let me know Kat and I will send you my weight.

Thanks

Kelli--you mean this is not working for you yet. It is never too late to start. When you say you cannot stop snacking, are you eating more since you decided to do this? If so, maybe you are fearful you will not be able to eat. If that is so, make sure you plan what you will eat so in your mind you know that you will be eating. The other thing you may need to do is clean your environment. It is harder to eat things if they are not readily accessible. You can do this! It has only been a week. :grouphug:

Maybe you need to just break one or two habits at a time and not try to do everything at once. Is there something that you eat every day and it is not so good for you? If so, maybe you can decide to eat it just one day a week.

Whatever the weights are, it sounds like folks are working on identifying and fixing bad habits. :thumbsup2 That is a great first step, even if the scales don't say what we want them to.

I cannot wait to see what a mini challenge is! :cool1:

I am writing a check out to you now Kat. I will mail it tomorrow. If we are not snowed in, lol. Nasty weather today. :rolleyes2

Tomorrow is weigh in day!!! I am nervous. I tried my best, and certainly better than I had been doing, but still not sure I lost anything.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.....

Beth, just trying has to count. I don't know if I lost anything or not yet either. But I think by just being so much more aware of what I am eating and trying to cut back, even if I did not loose, I am still happy.

I really hope that with tomorrow being the first weigh in day, that no one gets discouraged.

And I am sure that we all did great this first week!!! pixiedust:

Kelli, that is how I was last year, when Kat started this. I gave up within a few weeks.

Now I completely regret doing that, I just keep thinking about where I would be now, a year later, if I had kept it up.

Just stay with us, we are here for ya!:grouphug:

Kelli,

Take it slow, adjust little things. Even small steps are steps in the right direction! We are here for you! ::yes::

Well I dropped a whole 2 pounds since last week :rolleyes2 I guess I should be happy that it was lost and not found ::yes:: Especially since I didn't meet most of my goals for last week

I hope everyone had good news on the scales today pixiedust: It's a brand new week, good luck :grouphug:

Goals for this week:
1. Exercise!!!!
2. Cut out all sodas (this includes ginger ale! had a couple over the week)
3. No sugar in coffee (treated myself over the weekend and put sugar in my coffee)
4. Drink more water at home (tend not to drink much just sitting at home)
5. Make better choices when dining out

Kelli, you can do this. It's not easy but it can be done. Like the others said, start small. It takes time to get into a new habit.

And if you are used to snacking then that's fine. Some people need to eat several mini meals as opposed to 3 main ones. If the urge to snack comes then grab some baby carrots. Or some of those 100 calorie mini bags of popcorn. Maybe drink a big glass of water along with it.

I think one thing you have going for you is you are very active. Always on the go, so you can actually afford to eat more and snack more then someone like me for example who is just home all day and doesn't exercise.

We are here for you. You can do it. :grouphug:

Hi Shirley!! Good to see you. :wave2:

I'm not Kat, but I know she didn't want anyone who wanted to lose weight to be excluded. The only rule she had was if you were in the top three from last time, you can't win this time. BUT as far as the support you know we are all here for you. And any weight loss at all makes us all winners!! :cool1:

Plus we want you on this trip!!! :)

I do that all the time Jenna. There were so many times I quit cause I wasn't happy with how fast I was losing or what I was losing.

Then a whole year will pass and all I can think is "Man, if I'd stuck with it and even if I'd only lost a 1/2 a pound every week, in a year that's 24 lbs!"

Now 24 lbs for someone like me isn't much, but it's something. The time is passing anyways!!!! We might as well be losing something along the way.

2 pounds??? That's awesome Kendra!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
The first week is so hard, and you did great. And so what if you didn't meet all your goals, you tried and I am sure you did better than you normally would.

Soon you will be meeting them all.

It sounds like you have great goals for this week although speaking from experience I know how hard it is to go cold turkey on the soda. I still allow myself one small glass a day of the Diet Pepsi. And boy do I savor that! :rotfl:

Anyways, you did great! And you should be proud. :thumbsup2

And just think of the big picture. If all you did was lose even 1 pound a week between now and the trip, by then you'd have lost approx. 32 pounds!! And I don't even think you need to lose that much! We don't want you to blow away. ;)

Okay, well, I've avoided it long enough. lol

I have already posted my starting weight and pics back on page 3. So that's no secret. I plan to keep posting my weight along the way, it keeps me honest and accountable.

I started at 284, and am now at 280. So, I lost 4 lbs.
Honestly, I was hoping for more, (that's my impatience talking).
But I'm okay with it. It's a start and it's 4 lbs less to carry around. :)

Thank you very much everyone for the words of encouragement.

I have already given up all soda for Lent. So I am already drinking more water than I did before. I guess I just need to find a routine and get into a groove.

DH just put a new tube in my bike and I am going to really try to use the exercise room at the rec. center on Tuesday nights while DD does dance. I am hoping that DH will go with me. ::yes::

I had to much to do last night to start the Zumba Class, maybe Friday.

Kat - I am pretty sure I saw a scale in the exercise room. It is like the ones that the Dr's Office uses. So I will let you know tonight what the number is. :faint:

I still won't share my weight but I will say I want to lose at the minimum 75lbs, but my real goal is to lose 90. Oh it is so discouraging to think of it in those terms, but I got myself in this shape and now I have to get myself out!

that is great Kelli, see you are doing better than you think :thumbsup2

What is a zumba class?

I want to take kick boxing, but I am too ashamed to do it the way I look. I think we might get a heavy bag and then I will get a DVD and try it myself.

Hey Shirley- Great to see you around!!! Are you going to be able to make the trip in November?

Kendra and Beth, Those are great weight loses! Keep at it. With all the drinking I did this weekend I was surprised to see that I only gained 1 lb. That's not as bad as I was thinking it would be. :woohoo:

What are you nuts Beth?! 4 pounds is awesome! If you use your own formula, that will be 128 lbs by Nov. 1!! Now, go get your self a nice glass of water you BIG LOSER! :cheer2:

Zumba - is an exercise class that uses latin dance moves.

Kickboxing looks like it would kick my A**.

Good morning everyone! I hate it that I can't be here like I usually am, its ticking me off. Stupid job. :badpc:

I will be on after work to post about the mini-challenge and check in with everyone.

Shirley, I sent you a PM.

Beth, you had an AWESOME first week.

Kelli, those doctor's scales are the best kind. They are the most accurate represenation of your weight. I swear everytime I go to a doctor and he weighs me I weigh more than my scale says. I hate that. So that's a good place to do it, you'll know you have the right weight.

I somehow managed to lose a pound this week. I have no idea how. :confused3 I ate the whole bowl of HOB pasta on Saturday (let's be honest...I probably would have licked the bowl if it was publicly acceptable) and I drank...alot. But I think the water loss helped me out this week so that's where I am.

For reference, we have 34 weeks til the trip. Think of a pound a week. That's 34 pounds. Alot of you don't have near that much to lose but those of us who do, even that one pound a week is going to make ALOT of difference.

The first challenge is going to have to do with weight loss in the beginning of this challenge. It comes off easiest at the beginning and I want some happy faces before we hit the proverbial "plateau". I will post more when I get home tonight.

Really Kendra? I'm not trying to be dense but you honestly don't look like you need to lose that amount. :confused3

My total goal is to lose a 130 lbs. which will put me at 150 and that's what I weighed when I got married. I was happy with that. I don't think I'll ever be skinny like I was in high school and quite frankly I don't want to be. I wasn't healthy and did crazy things to be that skinny.

Anyways, my point is you just don't look like you'd need to lose anywhere near 75 and definitely not 90. And I understand about hearing high numbers like that and just feeling overwhelmed. Believe me.
But set little goals and reach those one at a time.

My first goal is to lose about 30 lbs before we move to Vegas which is in June.
Do you have a smaller goal you could set? Maybe for an upcoming trip or somthing?

What are you nuts Beth?! 4 pounds is awesome! If you use your own formula, that will be 128 lbs by Nov. 1!! Now, go get your self a nice glass of water you BIG LOSER! :cheer2:
128? Hmmm, I wish. LOL I think you meant 228. ;)

I haven't seen 128 since senior year in high school. And don't think I ever will again. Heck at this point I'd be happy to say I was under 200!!! :rolleyes2 :)
